MR 댐퍼의 동특성 해석 (Dynamic Characteristics Analysis of A Magneto-Rheological Damper)

  • MR(Magneto-rheological) fluid is smart fluid that can change its characteristics then magnetic fields are applied. Recently, many researches have been performed on this MR fluid for the application in a vareity of areas including automobile shock absorbers. This paper describes the design procedure of a MR damper and the analysis results of its dynamic characteristics. MR fluid in the magnetic field shows initial yield shear stress and increasing resistive viscosity with final saturation thereafter. Herschel-Bulkley model is used to simulate the flow characteristics of MR fluid and magnetic analysis is used to identify the magnetic property of the MR fluid in the orifice of the damper. The dynamic characteristics of the damper was predicted and compared with the experimental results for typical sinusoidal excitations.

  • Air damper has a great advantage that is independent of temperature change. This paper presents an analysis approach and an application for designing nonviscous air damper with a piston and a cylinder. The objective functions for optimum design is damping coefficient and is maximized by changing two design variables that are length between piston and cylinder and orifice diameter. A digital computer program was developed which determines optimal air damper configuration for maximum damping coefficients. The results were applied to the automatic washer and are confirmed to be valid for the range of operating conditions.

  • Recently MR CDC damper has been applied to semi-active suspension control system gradually. Compared to former hydraulic CDC damper, it has rapid time response performance as well as simple internal structure and wide range of damping force. In order to develop control logic algorithm which enables to take maximum advantage of unique characteristics of MR CDC damper, it is inevitable to perform a thorough investigation into its nonlinear performance. In many previous researches, MR fluid model was either simply assumed as Bingham Plastic, or a phenomenological model based on experiment was established instead to predict damping performance of MR CDC damper. These experimental flow model which is not based on flow analysis but intentionally built to fit damping characteristics, may lead to totally different results in case of different configuration or structure of MR CDC damper. In this study, a generalized flow formula from mathematical flow model of MR fluid for annular orifice is derived to analyze and predict damping characteristics when current is excited at piston valve.

자동차용 유압식 시트댐퍼의 댐핑 메카니즘에 관한 연구 (Study on the Damping Mechanism of an Hydraulic Type Automotive Seat Damper)

  • Typically, the seat of an automotive vehicle generally includes a horizontal seat-cushion portion and a vertical seat-back portion that is operatively connected to the seat-cushion portion. The seat may include a recliner for the reclining of the seat-back portion relative to the seat-cushion portion by the seat occupant. An energy absorber or damper can also be provided for the seat-back portion. Because the recliner is configured to be released at a relatively high speed, and it results in an impact at the end of a folding stroke, the damper needs to dissipate energy as the seat back moves with respect to the seat cushion; therefore, the role of the seat damper in the automotive-seat design is important. In this paper, the mechanism of an hydraulic-type automotive-seat damper is investigated, and the torque characteristic is simulated according to the design-parameter variations such as the orifice area and the working-fluid properties.

반능동 제어를 위한 MR 유체 댐퍼의 설계 (Design of MR Fulid Dampers for Semi-Active Control)

  • 대형 구조물의 진동제어를 위하여 MR 유체 댐퍼를 사용한 반능동 제어기법에 대하여 연구하였다. 기존에 많이 사용되고 있는 수동제어기법은 일단 제어장치를 설치한 후에는 구조물에 실제로 작용하고 있는 외부 하중의 현재 특성에 대해서 적절히 반응할 수 없다는 제한을 가지고 있으며, 이를 극복하기 위하여 연구되어온 능동제어기법은 구조물이 진동을 감소시키기 위하여 구조물에 직접적으로 가해지는 커다란 제어력을 요구하며, 이로 인해 경우에 따라서는 불안정한 상태가 유발될 수도 있다는 점이 단점으로 지적되고 있다. 최근에 Spencer 등은 반능동 제어기법을 제안하였는데, 이는 수동제어장치의 제어특성을 On-Line 으로 조절하는 방식으로서 제어 가능한 수동제어기법으로도 불리운다. 구조물의 진동제어에 필요한 제어력이, 특수한 제어기구에서 발생되는 인위적인 힘이 아니라, 적절한 구조부재에서 발생되는 자연적인 부재력이므로, 무엇보다 강인하고 신뢰할 수 있는 제어기법이며, 이때 제어장치의 구조적 특성을, 측정된 구조물의 응답에 맞추어 적절히 조절함으로써 다양한 외부하중에 대해 보다 효율적인 제어가 이루어질 수 있도록 한 방법이다. 반능동제어를 위한 제어기로서는 Variable Orifice Dampers, Friction Controllable Isolators, Variable Stiffness Devices, Electro-Rheological (ER) Fluid Damper, Magneto-Rheological(MR) Fluid Damper등이 제안되고 있으며, 본 논문에서는 반응속도가 빠르고, 적은 파워만을 요구하며, 커다란 제어력을 낼 수 있는 MR Damper를 사용하여 지진하중을 받는 구조물의 반능동 제어게 대하여 연구하였다. MR Damper의 특성이 비선형이므로 이에 적합한 Sliding Mode Fuzzy Control(SMFC)기법을 사용하였으며 이때 SMFC 의 최적 설계를 위하여 Genetic Algorithm을 적용하였다. 제안된 제어기법의 실제 적용성을 검증하기 위하여 기존이 제어결과와 비교 검토하였으며, 그 결과로부터 MR Damper를 사용한 반능동 제어기법이 구조물의 진동제어에 매우 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

DEVELOPMENT OF A REVERSE CONTINUOUS VARIABLE DAMPER FOR SEMI-ACTIVE SUSPENSION

  • Semi-active suspension systems are greatly expected to be in the mainstream of future controlled suspensions fur passenger cars. In this study, a continuous variable damper for a passenger car suspension is developed. It is controlled actively and exhibits high performance with light weight, low cost, and low energy consumption. To get fast response of the damper, reverse damping mechanism is adapted, and to get small pressure change rate after blow-off, a pilot controlled proportional valve is designed and analyzed. The reverse continuous variable damper is designed as a HS-SH damper which offers good body control with reduced transferred input force from tire, compared with any other type of suspension system. The damper structure is designed, so that rebound and compression damping force can be tuned independently, of which variable valve is placed externally. The rate of pressure change with respect to the flow rate after blow-offbecomes smooth when the fixed orifice size increases. Damping forces are measured with the change of the solenoid current at the different piston velocities to confirm the maximum hysteresis of 20N, linearity, and variance of damping farce. The damping farce variance is wide and continuous, and is controlled by the spoof opening, of which scheme is usually adapted in proportional valves. The reverse continuous variable damper developed in this study is expected to be utilized in the semi-active suspension systems in passenger cars after its performance and simplicity of the design is confirmed through real car test.

로터리 댐퍼의 토오크 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Torque Characteristics of Rotary Dampers)

  • Rotary dampers are damping devices which provide high resistance to shaft rotation. Rotary dampers are being used in various areas to enable the gentle opening and closing of the rotation motion relative to home furniture, industry machinery and automotive parts. Rotary dampers can be installed directly at the rotating point of a various part and can achieve uniform, gentle movement which increases quality and value of products. And generally, the silicone fluid is used as the damping medium because of its stable viscous properties. The movement of these little decelerators can be achieved with a high viscosity of working fluid and throttles installed in the body of the rotary damper. The damping force can be achieved clockwise, anti-clockwise or in both directions according to the structure of the orifices or throttles. In this paper, the torque performances of the rotary damper containing air in the working fluid were studied. For this purpose, the torque characteristic of the rotary damper according to the variation of various operating conditions such as clearance of leakage, dimensions of groove orifice, content ratio of air, etc., were simulated with AMEsim software.

  • 외부에서 인가되는 전류의 세기에 따라 결합력의 세기가 달라지는 자기점성유체의 특성을 이용한 자기점성 유체 댐퍼는 유체의 결합력을 통해 전단력을 발생시켜 진동의 제어가 가능하다. 자기점성유체 댐퍼의 성능을 좌우 하는 코일 작동부의 최적화를 위해 유한요소해석을 이용해 코일 형상에 따른 전자기력의 성능비교를 실시하였다. 또한 고효율 댐퍼를 제작하기 위한 방법으로 다단의 코일 작동부를 가지는 댐퍼를 제안하였으며, 기존의 댐퍼와의 전자기적 성능 비교를 통해 댐퍼의 성능 비교를 수행하고 제한된 조건에서 최대의 효과를 가질 수 있는 방안을 제시하고 그에 따른 전자기장 해석을 수행하였다.

  • The pneumatic vibration isolation systems have been widely used in industry and laboratories, but the full mathematical analysis and nonlinear modeling techniques have not been reported yet, even while the nonlinear features of the pneumatic vibration isolation system decide the main characteristics. For instance, the orifice in a pneumatic vibration isolator has been traditionally considered as a simple viscous damper, which was too much simplified to explain the performance of the isolation system. In this paper, the nonlinear characteristics are considered for the orifice and chamber, etc. The numerical simulation is carried out by the MATLAB/Simulink software. From the analysis result, a clear trend of the nonlinear features is shown: the vibration transmissibility changes not only due to the excitation frequency but also due to the amplitude of the vibration excitation. Therefore various design parameters are optimally chosen for the vibration isolation system. The proposed methods show good compatibility between the analysis results and the experiments.
