  • The properties of concrete damaged by fire change according to the temperature. Diffusion coefficient of chloride ion also can change which affect the life expectation under salt circumstance. Diffusion coefficient was measured by NT BUILD 492 using the concrete specimen damaged by high temperature. FEM analysis was performed to predict the life expectancy which can help to diagnose the concrete diagnose and to design maintenance strategy.

  • This study is aimed to investigate the strength variation of fire-damaged reinforced concrete column with polypropylene by non-destructive test. It is studied to infer the recovery degree of residual strength of fire-damaged concrete. For measuring the surface hardness of RC columns, Schmidt hammer test is used. Testing is performed four-times: before fire test, directly after fire test, after 30 days and after 4 months.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Jukryuk and Saengkang-juices on cerebral vascular ischemia (CVI) of the middle cerebral artery (MCA). Method : By admiuistration Jukryuk and Saengkang-juices, we compared treated groups with untreated groups, in view of five points as follows: 1) cerebral damage; 2) damaged area of ischemia; 3) cerebral edema; 4) the number of neuronal cells adjacent to the areas damaged by ischemia; and 5) the number of neuronal cells adjacent to the areas damaged by ischemia Results : In this experiment, the effect of Jukryuk and Saengkang-juices was determined by inducing cerebral vascular ischemia after occluding the middle cerebral artery (MCA) in mice, and making observations and comparisons such as alterations in damaged areas and neuronal cellular changes in the brain. Conclusions : According to the above results, Jukryuk and Saengkang-juices can protect the cerebral vascular ischemia.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a rehabilitation technique for heavily earthquake damaged masonry buildings. A full scale one storey masonry building with window and door openings was manufactured and tested on the shock table by applying increased amplitude free vibration up to the point where heavy earthquake damage was observed. Damaged test building was rehabilitated with vertical and diagonal steel straps and then tested again. The effectiveness of improvements obtained by the rehabilitation technique was investigated. Steel straps improved the lateral strength and stiffness of masonry walls and limited the lateral displacement of building. Stability of the masonry walls were also improved by the steel straps. Steel straps reduced the natural period of the earthquake damaged masonry building and prevented the failure of the building at the same amplitude of free vibration.

  • The number of marine accidents have been decreased since various equipments for navigation control have been introduced to the marine vessels. However, disastrous marine accidents such as ship collisions are occurred more frequently. Therefore, IMO(International Maritime Organization) is enforcing the design requirement of structural strength for marine vessel. Also EU countries are developing new design methodologies and design tools to suggest the design guidance which can minimize the damage of commercial vessels in case of marine collision accidents. In this study, an integrated design system for the safety assessment has been presented to enhance the safety of damaged ships in marine collision accidents. The architecture of system is described by use-cases and IDEF functional analysis. Then an integrated system for safety assessment of damaged ship which is considering both damage stability and structural safety has been developed to support the ship design in early stage.

  • Solar cell converts light energy to electric energy. But a solar cell generates low power, PV module is fabricated by connected in series with dozens of solar cell. Owing to solar cell connected in series, power of PV module is influenced by shading or mismatch power of solar cells. To prevent power loss of PV module by shading or mismatch current, Bypass diodes are installed in PV module. Bypass diode operating reverse voltage by shading or mismatch power of solar cells bypass mismatch current. However, bypass diode in module exposed outdoor is easily damaged by surge voltage. In this paper, we confirm characteristics variation of PV module with damaged bypass diode. As a result, power of PV module with damaged bypass diode is reduced and Temperature of that is increased.

  • The actual vegetation and environmental impact grade of Daekwanrim in Hamyang were investigated and the structure of the plant community was analyzed by the classification of TWINSPAN and three kinds of multivariate ordination (PCA, RA, DCA) techniques.Twenty-eight plots were set up by the clumped sampling method in June of 1990. Carpinus laxiflora and C. tschonoskii communities covered 38% and Quercus species communities covered 39% of the total rea. Environmental impact class 3 and 4 area. Twenty-eight plots were divided into three groups according to the degree of damage by TWINSPAN and ordination techniques. The dominant species in the shrub layer of the heavily damaged site and the light damaged site were Styrax japonica and Sasamorpha purporanscens, so the sucessional trends should be disturbed. As a result of the analysis for the relationship between the stand scores of DCA and the environmental impact class, they had a tendancy to increase from the light damaged to heavily damaged site.

  • The disks containing all the system software-OS(Operating System), application program, and DB(Data Base)-happen to be broken. This happens not only to general computer systems but also to electronic switching system. In the electronic switching system, this causes the essential data and software needed for operating the system to be damaged and is fatal to services, so that they should be recovered as soon as possible. Especially the data, having the information of subscriber, trunk, prefix, and system configuration should be receovered preferentially. To manage this situation, the system should let the operator know that the data are damaged and recover the damaged data. This paper shows a way of recovering this damaged data, the object data of audit, the structure of DBMS and the implementation of audit in the case of the domestic high capacity electronic switching system, TDX-10A.

  • In this paper, a study of 2-step damage detection for space truss structures using the extended Kalman filter theory is presented. Space truss structures are composed of many members, so it is difficult to find damaged member from the whole system. Therefore, 2-step damage identification method is applied to detect the damaged members. First, kinetic energy change ratio is used to find damage region including damaged member and then detect damaged member using extended Kalman filtering algorithm in damage region. The effectiveness of proposed method is verified through the numerical examples.

  • Nano-scale fabrication of silicon substrate in an aqueous solution based on the use of atomic force microscopy was demonstrated. A specially designed cantilever with diamond tip, allowing the formation of damaged layer on silicon substrate easily by a simple scratching process (Tribo-Nanolithography, TNL), has been applied instead of conventional silicon cantilever for scanning. A slant nanostructure can be fabricated by a process in which a thin damaged layer rapidly forms in the substrate at the diamond tip-sample junction along scanning path of the tip and simultaneously the area uncovered with the damaged layer is being etched. This study demonstrates how the TNL parameters can affect the formation of damaged layer and the shape of 3-D structure, hence introducing a new process of proximal nanolithography in aqueous solution.
