  • Proteins that are involved in cellular signal cascade experience phosphorylation and dephosphorylation cycles in their tyrosine residue(s) during cell adhesion. In order to identify the protein(s), which tyrosine desidues are specifically phosphorylated when the cells attached to the substrate, we compared the tyrosine phosphorylation level of proteins between suspension and adhered culture condition in rat fibroblast 3Yl cells. We found that a cluster of 70 kDa protein was specifically phosphorylated when the cells adhered to the substrate, but did not effect the cells held in suspension. The phosphorylated protein is identified as paxillin, a focal adhesion protein in immunoprecipitation and immunobloting analysis. These results suggest that the tyrosine phosphorylation of paxillin may play a role in cell-substrate adhesion.

  • Recombinant plasmids harboring a heterologous gene coding for the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) were transfected and expressed in Drosophila melanogaster S2 cells. A stable transformation of polyclonal cell populations expressing EGFP were isolated after 4 weeks of selection with hygromycin B. The recombinant EFGP expressed in transformed S2 cells consisted of a molecular weight of 27 kDa. EGFP expression was also confirmed by fluorometric measurement. The maximum EGFP concentration was about 9.3 mg/I. The present findings demonstrate not only the successful stable expression of EGFP in Drosophuila was about 9.3 mgI. The present findings demonstrate not only the successful stable expression of EGFP in Drosophila S2 cells, but also the use of EGFP as a reporter to analyze gene expression, with its potential of a Drosophila cell expression system for recombinant protein production being an alternative to a baculovirus-insect cell expression system.

  • The induced antibiotic peptides were isolatde from the white-spotted folwer chafer, Protaetia brevitarsis by injection of E. coli suspension to the larvae of the insect. The antibacterial activity of the peptides were assayed by the plate growth ingibition method, and were purified by ion-exchange chromatography, reversed-phase HPLC, ion-exchange HPLC and SDS-PAGE etc. The peptides were estimated as 9 kDa in molecular weight and named Protaecin I and Protaecin II, respectively. Protaecin I and II have strong antibacterial activities against Gram-positivie and/or Gram-negative bacteria, and they are stable in the heat treatment and in the range of pH 2-12.

  • Head of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer indicates its growth number of years and has been widely used for supplying energy to weaklings or used as vomit. Butanol fraction of Panax ginseng head was significantly effective on gastritis and ulcer models in rats. and also had anti-oxidative properties in the previous study. It has been well established that gastric ulcer is induced by imbalance between aggressive factors and protective factors. and the oxidative reaction makes the lesions on gastric mucosal injury severer. • The aim of this study was designed to determine the induction of rat growth hormone(rGH) by extracts of a popular herb, Glycyrrhizae radix(GR), roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra $\sub$Linne/, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis $\sub$Fischer/. In vitro study was carried out using primary rat pituitary cell culture for 3 days and then was treated with methanol extract corresponding to 1 mg of dried weight of herb per 1 $m\ell$ of culture solution. • In the previous studies. we confirmed the anti-inflammatory components of Kalopanax pictus bark using activity-guided fractionation in vivo. For the elucidation of anti-inflammatory mechanism, we evaluated the effects of these components on the inhibition of NF-$\sub$K/B activity and human leukocyte elastase. A cell-based assay system developed in our laboratory was used in transfectant RAW 264.7 cells. (omitted)

  • Most concrete is recently made of an aggregate which is properly absorbed, and carried in it in order to do capability at every fields. We have been close to demand new capability of high flowing and enduring for specific concretes. That is difficult to cope with claiming the efficiency on deterioration from lack of a high quality aggregate. Therefore, For solving the problems we apply to a packing method for using dried materials. That is to say it is a kind of making into an instant. In this study, There is a purpose to present fundamental data, comparing and analyzing a phenomenon about aggregate's absorption following the rate of adding water, for using existing materials.

  • Loxoprofen sodium is an orally used anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent. For alleviation or inhibition of the pain symptoms regardless of referred or superficial pain, the prompt absorption of a drug and its immediate bioavailability might be generally required for a formulation or development of a new drug. Therefore, in intramuscular administration, its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects were evaluated compared with an oral administration in animals. The occurrence of gastric damages which is common in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was also observed.
