  • In this paper, a particular application of digital photos, remote sensing, remote shooting air moving, high-resolution and high compression of medical images required by remote shooting of JPEG2000 standard applied in the field of hardware design, production was implemented. JPEG2000 standard for image compression using the software implementation of the processing speed is very slow compared to conventional JPEG disadvantages, and also the standard of JPEG2000 DWT (Discrete wavelet transform) to improve the level of compression for image data if processing speed is a phenomenon that has degraded. In order to solve these JPEG2000 compression / decompression groups were designed and applied. In this paper, the optimal JPEG2000 compression / reservoir hardware by changing the level for still image compression, faster computation speed and quality has shown improvement.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal wavelet in a system for canceling background noise of acoustic signals. This system performed Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) instead of the existing Short Time Fourier Transform(STFT) and then improved noise cancellation performance through a deep learning process. DWT functions as a multi-resolution band-pass filter and obtains transformation parameters by time-shifting the parent wavelet at each level and using several wavelets whose sizes are scaled. Here, the noise cancellation performance of several wavelets was tested to select the most suitable mother wavelet for analyzing the speech. In this study, to verify the performance of the noise cancellation system for various wavelets, a simulation program using Tensorflow and Keras libraries was created and simulation experiments were performed for the four most commonly used wavelets. As a result of the experiment, the case of using Haar or Daubechies wavelets showed the best noise cancellation performance, and the mean square error(MSE) was significantly improved compared to the case of using other wavelets.

  • In the conventional fractal image compression in the DWT(discrete wavelet transform), the domain and range blocks were classified as B${\times}$B block size first before all domain block for each range block was searched. The conventional method has a disadvantages that the encoding time takes too long, since the domain block for entire image was searched. As an enhancement to such inefficiencies and image quality, this paper proposes wavelet-based fractal image compression with multiscale factors. Thus, this proposed method uses multiscale factor along each level and band to enhance an overall image quality. In encoding process of this method, the range blocks are not searched for all the domain blocks; however, using the self affine system the range blocks are selected from the blocks in the upper level. The image qualify of the conventional method is 32.30[dB], and the proposed method is 35.97[dB]. The image quality is increased by 3.67[dB].

  • One of main issues in watermarking is to resolve the strength of watermark for solving the problem of trade-off between fidelity and robustness of watermarking. In the previous research, the strength of watermark has been resolved fixed value generally without considering local image characteristics such as image brightness, contrast, and edge. This paper proposes a new model to predict the strength of watermark considering local image characteristics such as image brightness, contrast, and edge for digital wavelet transform(DWT)-based image watermarking. For the study, psychological experiment was fulfilled to measure the human image perception and regression analysis showed the proposed model was statistically significant at the level of ${\alpha}\;=\;0.01$. Also the model is practically validated on fidelity and robustness of watermarking.

  • In this paper, a robust watermarking scheme is proposed that uses the scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm in the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) domain. First, the SIFT feature areas are extracted from the original image. Then, one level DWT is applied on the selected SIFT feature areas. The watermark is embedded by modifying the fractional portion of the horizontal or vertical, high-frequency DWT coefficients. In the watermark extracting phase, the embedded watermark can be directly extracted from the watermarked image without requiring the original cover image. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme obtains the robustness to both signal processing and geometric attacks. Also, the proposed scheme is superior to some previous schemes in terms of watermark robustness and the visual quality of the watermarked image.

  • A digital wave tank (DWT) simulation technique has been developed by authors to investigate the interactions of fully nonlinear waves with 3D marine structures. A finite-difference/volume method and a modified marker-and-cell (MAC) algorithm have been used, which are based on the Navier-Stokes (NS) and continuity equations. The fully nonlinear kinematic free-surface condition is implemented by the marker-density function (MDF) technique or the Level-Set (LS) technique developed for one or two fluid layers. In this paper, some applications for various engineering problems with free-surface are introduced and discussed. It includes numerical simulation of marine environments by simulation equipments, fully nonlinear wave motions around offshore structures, nonlinear ship waves, ship motions in waves and marine flow simulation with free-surface. From the presented simulations, it seems that the developed DWT simulation technique can handle various engineering problems with free-surface and reliably predict hydrodynamic features due to the fully-nonlinear wave motions interacting with such marine structures.

  • In this paper, the DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) based watermarking method for authentication and detection of image modification was proposed. The proposed algorithm inserts watermark into high frequency domain after 1-level wavelet transform by exchanging wavelet coefficients and embeds the characteristic values of high frequency domain of original image into the LSB part of watermarked image. Therefore, By extracting LSB values and watermark in the high frequency domain from the watermarked image, we can authenticate the image and detect modified positions.

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal gives a clear indication whether the heart is at a healthy status or not as the early notification of a cardiac problem in the heart could save the patient's life. Several methods were launched to clarify how to diagnose the abnormality over the ECG signal waves. However, some of them face the problem of lack of accuracy at diagnosis phase of their work. In this research, we present an accurate and successive method for the diagnosis of abnormality through Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), QRS complex detection and Support Vector Machines (SVM) classification with overall accuracy rate 95.26%. DWT Refers to sampling any kind of discrete wavelet transform, while SVM is known as a model with related learning algorithm, which is based on supervised learning that perform regression analysis and classification over the data sample. We have tested the ECG signals for 10 patients from different file formats collected from PhysioNet database to observe accuracy level for each patient who needs ECG data to be processed. The results will be presented, in terms of accuracy that ranged from 92.1% to 97.6% and diagnosis status that is classified as either normal or abnormal factors.

  • Better fundamental understanding of the interactions between the in-cylinder flows and combustion process is an important requirement for further improvement in the fuel economy and emissions of internal combustion(IC) engines. Flow near a spark plug at the time of ignition plays an important role for early flame kernel development(EFKD). Velocity data measurements in this study were made with a two-component laser Doppler velocimetry(LDV) near a spark plug in a single cylinder optical spark ignition(SI) engine with a heart-shaped combustion chamber. LDV velocity data were collected on an individual cycle basis under wide-open motored conditions with an engine speed of 1,000rpm. This study examines and compares the flow fields as interpreted through ensemble, cyclic and discrete wavelet transformation(DWT) analysis. The energy distributions in the non-stationary engine flows are also investigated over crank angle phase and frequency through continuous wavelet transformation(CWT) for a position near a spark plug. Wavelet analysis is appropriate for analyzing the flow fields in engines because it gives information about the transient events in a time and frequency plane. The results of CWT analysis are provided and compared with the mean flows of DWT first decomposition level for all cycles at a position. Low frequency high energy found with CWT corresponds well with the peak locations of the mean velocity. The high frequency flows caused by the intake jet gradually decay as the piston approaches the bottom dead center(BDC).
