FPGA Implementation of I/Q Imbalance Estimator in OFDM System (OFDM 시스템에서 I/O 불평형 추정기의 FPGA 구현)

  • This paper designed IQ imbalance estimator and compensator to cancel the IQ imbalance error in DVB-T system using OFDM by Matlab. Among Matlab model, we designed and implemented IQ imbalance estimator and compensator by System Generator of Xilinx and Matlab model compared with Xilinx System Generator Model for FPGA implementation. As a result of simulation, we confirmed that both model estimated and compensated IQ imbalance error very well. Also, we verified the performance through hardware co-simulation, timing analysis and resource estimation with Xilinx Spartan3 xc3s1000 fg676-4 target Device.

Bit Split Method for Efficient Channel Estimation in UWA Channel (수중 다중경로 채널에서 효과적인 채널추정을 위한 비트 분리 방법)

  • Underwater acoustic(UWA) communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of UWA channel causes signal distortion and error floor. In this paper, we proposed split input bits of channel decoder using method of maximum value, average value, LLR value for optimal estimation. Channel coding method is LDPC(N size=16000) standard in DVB-S2. As shown in simulation results, the performance of LLR value method is better than other methods.

  • 이 연구는 Ka대역 위성 HDTV 방송 서비스를 제공하기 위해 강우강도에 따른 전송방안을 제안하였다. Ka대역은 Ku대역에 비하여 강우에 취약하기 때문에 이를 안정적으로 활용하기 위해서는 강우감쇠를 효과적으로 경감시키는 기술개발이 필수적이다. 유럽위성방송 표준인 DVB-S2에서는 강우감쇠에 대한 대처방안으로 채널상황에 따라 여러 변조방식과 채널 부호 율을 이용하는 적응형 변복조 방식을 지원하고 있으며, 이 논문에서는 DVB-S2기반의 전송방식과 Ka대역 중계기의 규격을 적용하여 강우강도에 따른 전송방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위하여 ITU-R P.618-9 강우감쇠 추정 모델과 기상청에서 측정한 1998년부터 2007년까지의 최근 10년간 국내 주요지역의 30분 누적강우량을 이용하여 지역별 강우 감쇠값을 도출하였고 강우강도와 시간 율 관계분석을 통하여 강우강도에 따른 강우감쇠 값을 획득하였다. 획득한 강우감쇠 값을 무궁화 위성 3호의 링크 설계에 적용하여 강우강도에 따른 적용 가능한 전송방안을 도출하였다. 이 연구를 바탕으로 강우의 지역적 편이가 높은 우리나라의 강우 특성을 유연하게 반영하여 각 지역에 맞는 적응적인 전송 방식을 고려할 수 있다.

  • The Spectrum Sensing technology is the core technology of the Cognitive Radio (CR) system that is one of the future wireless communication technologies. This is the technology that temporarily allocates the frequency bandwidth by scanning surrounding wireless environments to keep licensed terminals and search the unused frequency bandwidth. In this paper, we implement the efficient Spectrum Sensing methods based on CR technology in an embedded board. The DVB-H signal with the 6MHz bandwidth is used as the RF input signal. And we confirm the Spectrum Sensing result using Modified Periodogram Method, Welch's Method, SCF Method. And also, We examine the execution speed of each of detailed functions and the performance of Spectrum Sensing methods on TI320C6416 DSP board inserted in an embedded board.

  • The Spectrum Sensing Technology is the core technology of the Cognitive Radio (CR) System that is one of the future wireless communication technologies. In this paper, we proposed the efficient Spectrum Sensing Method using the Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) that is the algorithm for Time-Frequency analysis of the raw data. Applied window function to STFT algorithm is a Kaiser window, it is piled up its 50% range. For the simulation, the DVB-H signal with the 6MHz bandwidth is used as the Input Signal. And we confirm the Spectrum Sensing result using Modified Periodogram Method, Welch's Method for compared with Short Time Fourier Transform Algorithm. And also, Spectrum Sensing Module is implemented using embedded board.

  • OFDM should be used for the fourth generation communication for high speed communication. Because of high spectral efficiency and high tolerance to fading channel, OFDM is applied to many high speed wire and wirless communication such as DAB(Digital Audio Broudcast), DVB(Digital Video Broadcast), IMT 2000 etc. Inter-modulation, however, is derived from PAR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) of OFDM signals. The paper describes PTS(Partial Transmit Sequence) and SLM(Select Mapping) of an existing methods which can reduce PAR. And then the document introduces the new method that is called "Combine PAR method". The method proposed in this paper is to combine PTS and SLM. As a result of the simulation, Combine PAR method is better than the existing methods.g methods.

  • This paper presents the architecture and the implementation of a 2K/4K/8K-point complex Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) processor for Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. The architecture is based on the Cooley-Tukey algorithm for decomposing the long DFT into short length multi-dimensional DFTs. The transposition memory, shuffle memory, and memory mergence method are used for the efficient manipulation of data for multi-dimensional transforms. Booth algorithm and the COordinate Rotation DIgital Computer(CORDIC) processor are employed for the twiddle factor multiplications in each dimension. Also, for the CORDIC processor, a new twiddle factor generation method is proposed to obviate the ROM required for storing the twiddle factors. The overall 2K/4K/8K-FFT processor requires 600,000 gates, and it is implemented in 1.8 V, 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS. The processor can perform 8K-point FFT in every 273 ${\mu}s$, 2K-point every 68.26 ${\mu}s$ at 30MHz, and the SNR is over 48dB, which are enough performances for the OFDM in DVB-T.

  • Today's digital broadcasting services based on DVB-SI standard are provided a two-way broadcast. However, using the power of STB if the user does not use a waste of time spent on standby power is becoming a serious problem. Accordingly, for energy savings both at home and abroad to actively promote green policies, but highly functional STB, the internal software to automatically update the appropriate scheduling techniques are not shown, power usage does not meet the standard can. Therefore, In this paper We analyze the current STB technology and the problems, as proper use of power to the standard STB design scheme and the automatic software installation method of operation is presented.

A Modification of ATSC Transmission System for Terrestial 3D HDTV Broadcasting (지상파 3D HDTV 전송을 위한 ATSC 전송 시스템의 확장 및 수정에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we examined the possibility of the transmission capacity increase by an extension and a modification of ATSC 8-VSB transmission system[1] for broadcasting a 3D HDTV services through 6 MHz terrestrial channel. First we examined the performance and the limit of conventional ATSC 8-VSB transmission system. After that LDPC & BCH code are employed instead of conventional RS & TCM code and the transmission parameter is founded for the capacity increase with resonable TOV by varying the code-rates and increasing the modulation constellation. We do not consider the perfect backward compatibility for maximum transmission capacity increase like DVB-S2 system.

  • DVB-S2/RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite/Return Channel via Satellite)는 위성 방송 및 데이터 통신을 위한 표준으로서 높은 통신 품질 및 향상된 위성 자원 이용을 위해 수립되었다. DVB-RCS 의 MF-TDMA (Multi-Frequency Time Division Multiple Access)는 동적인 자원할당이 가능하며, 이에 따라 통신 요구 사항이 증가하는 군 위성 통신 체계로의 적용 연구가 활발하게 진행 중이다. 그러나 기존 MF-TDMA 위성 통신은 군 통신에 필수적인 항재밍에 대한 고려가 부족한 실정이다. 부분대역 재밍시, 다구의 RCST (Return Channel Satellite Terminal)에 통신 저하를 초래 할 수 있으며, 망 자원을 관리하는 제어 채널의 재밍으로 다수 RCST 의 채널 탈퇴를 초래할 가능성이 있다. 본 논문에서는 부분대역 재밍 시 RCST 의 통신 저하를 최소화하며, 제어 채널 재밍으로 인한 다구 RCST 의 채널 탈퇴를 예방하는 자원할당 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 다양한 대역폭을 지원하는 MF-TDMA 에 적용 가능함으로써 다양한 장비가 혼재하는 군사 환경에 매우 적합하다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제어 채널의 재밍 확률과, RCST 의 자원할당 효율을 기존 자원할당 알고리즘과 비교하였으며, 제안한 알고리즘이 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인 하였다.
