Analysis Third-dimension Turbo Code for DVB-RCS Next Generation (DVB-RCS Next Generation을 위한 Third-dimension Turbo Code 분석)

  • The next generation wireless communication systems are required high BER performance better than present performance. Double binary Turbo code have error floor at high SNR, so it cannot be used in next generation wireless communication system. Therefore, many methods are proposed for overcome error floor at DVB-RCS NG(next generation). In this paper, we analysis structure of third-dimension Turbo code(3D-turbo code). 3D-Turbo code overcomes error flow by additive post-encoder in conventional DVB-RCS Turbo code. Performance of 3D-Turbo code is changed by post-encoder form, interleaving method, value of ${\lambda}$. So we are simulated by those parameter and proposed optimal form. By a result, performance of 3D-Turbo is better than conventional DVB-RCS Turbo code and it overcome error floor of conventional DVB-RCS Turbo code.

  • 본 논문에서는 2009년 5월부터 유럽 DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)를 중심으로 본격적으로 진행되고 있는 차세대 VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) 시스템 표준기술인 DVB-RCS (Return Channel via Satellite) NG(Next Generation) 표준의 시스템 및 서비스 개요와 표준화 ad-hoc 기술 그룹회의에서 제안된 기술들에 대해서 소개하고자 한다. DVB-RCS NG 표준은 2008년 5월부터 DVB-RCS CM (Commercial Module)과 시스템 interoperability 테스트 관할 협의체인 유럽의 Satlabs를 중심으로 새로운 규격 작업을 위한 상업적 요구사항 선정 및 구체적인 서비스/시스템 모델을 수립하였다. DVB-TM (Technical Module)과 CM을 거쳐 최종적으로 SB(Steering Board)에서 2008년 10월에 승인을 받고 RCS ad-hoc 그룹은 study mission을 수행하게 되었다. 2008년 11월부터 DVB-RCS NG 규격을 위한 call for technology 작업, 제안된 기술에 대한 평가 방법, 이를 평가하기 위한 system그룹 및 study 그룹이 결성되어 2009년 1월에 call for technology가 공지되고 2009년 5월 4일까지 20개 기관으로부터 19개의 기고서가 제출되었다. 본 고에서는2009년 7월 회의까지 검토된 후보기술에 대한 소개와 향후, RCS NG 표준에서 유망한 기술에 대하여 다루고자한다.

  • 현재 위성 통신 시스템은 기존의 글로벌 서비스 인프라 구축이 가능하다는 장점에 고품질 통신 서비스 제공 가능을 더하여 명실 상부한 유비쿼터스 네트워크 환경을 지원하는 시스템으로 발돋움하기 위한 준비를 하고 있다. 이를 위해 기존의 DVB-RCS 대비 30% 이상의 성능 향상 지원을 목표로 하는 DVB-RCS NG 시스템에 대한 표준화 작업이 진행중에 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 DVB-RCS NG 표준화 동향과 더불어 DVB-RCS NG에서 표준화 채택이 유력한 링크계층 프로토콜로써 랜덤 액세스 기술과 인캡슐레이션 기술에 대해 전반적인 개념과 세부 기술을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • This paper we introduce next-generation VSAT system based on DVB-RCS2 which is second-generation satellite communication standard. We construct a test-bed for the functional verification of return link modem and discuss the results. According to this, we expect to efficient use of technology for the next-generation VSAT services and broadcasting services.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of soft decision e-BCH codes which presented in DVB-RCS NG system. However, the performance of soft-decision decoding for e-BCH is not much improved as to increase the iterations. Therefore this paper proposed rate-compatible TPC which makes various coding rates by zero padding the row and/or column to adapt next generation (NG) DVB-RCS system. And so we proposed new model of extended BCH code and researches how to develop performance of extended BCH code.

  • The soft-decision e-BCH decoding algorithm based on the Chase algorithm is adopted in DVB-RCS NG systems. For implementation, it is necessary to decide the number of optimal quantization bits when soft-decision e-BCH decoding algorithm is processed. Also, the performance must be satisfied. Therefore, in this paper, when the soft-decision e-BCH decoder is implemented, we select the number of optimal quantization bits using BER performance.

  • In this paper, we analyze throughput performance of MF-TDMA scheme and QS MC-DS/CDMA(quasi-synchronous MC-DS/CDMA) scheme based on scrambling on WH sequence and PPGC sequence in early frequency offset caused by high speed transfer terminal. QS MC-DS/CDMA scheme with scrambled WH sequence shows 5.7% higher throughput than MF-TDMA scheme and 8% higher throughput than QS MC-DS/CDMA with PPGC sequence in high speed transfer terminal environment such as maximum 1000Km/h speed with high frequency of Ka-band. Finally, we show that QS MC-DS/CDMA scheme with scrambled WH sequence is more efficient than traditional MF-TDMA scheme at the aspect of throughput in DVB-RCS system with Ka frequency band.

  • This paper analyzed performance of three dimensional turbo code and turbo ${\Phi}$ codes proposed in the next generation DVB-RCS systems. In the view of turbo ${\Phi}$ codes, we proposed the optimal permutation and puncturing patterns for triple binary input data. We also proposed optimal post-encoder types and interleaving algorithm for three dimensional turbo codes. Based on optimal parameters, we simulated both turbo codes, and we confirmed that the performance of turbo ${\Phi}$ codes are better than that of three dimensional turbo codes. However, the complexity of turbo ${\Phi}$ is more complex than that of three dimensional turbo codes by 18%.
