Drop Policy Considering Performance of TCP in Optical Burst Switching Networks (Optical Burst Switching Network에서 TCP 성능을 고려한 Drop Policy)

  • In OBS networks, the burst dropping due to contention significantly affects the performance of TCP, but existing drop policies have not considered this problem and researches related to TCP have been mainly studied on burst assembling. We propose the drop policy considering retransmission of TCP to improve the performance of TCP in OBS networks. The proposed drop policy is the Retransmission Count-based DP that regards retransmission count of bursts as priority when it selects dropping burst. This paper evaluates the performance of RC-based DP model and general DP model using ns-2. The metrics of performance evaluation are TCP throughput, maximum sequence number of received TCP packets and drop rate of packet as simulation time increases.

Effects of Kammaegdaejotang on the hemodynamic function in the isolated perfused rat heart (감맥대조탕(甘麥大棗湯)이 적출 흰쥐 심장의 혈역학적(血力學的) 기능(機能)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objectives : In order to verify the cardiovascular hemodynamic function of Kammaegdaejo-tang, the experiment was performed in the rats. Methods : Twelve hearts removed from male Sparague-Dawley rats weighing between 250g and 300g were perfused by the Langendorff technique with modified 37 Krebs-Henseleit's buffer solution at a constant perfusion pressure. They were randomly assigned to one of two groups, supplied with either normal saline or Kammaegdaejotang administration. Heart rate, left ventricular pressure, +dp/dt maximum, -dp/dt maximum, and -dp/dt/ +dp/dt ratio were evaluated at baseline after the administration of either normal saline or Kammaegdaejotang. Results : Kammaegdaejotang made the heart rate increasing significantly (p<0.05). Kammaegdaejotang did not effectively work on left ventricular pressure of the isolated heart(p=0.11, no significance). The significant effects of Kammaegdaejotang were observed on +dp/dt max and -dp/dt max(p<0.05). Kammaegdaejotang did not effectively work on -dp/dt/ +dp/dt ratio(p=0.24, no significance).

Simulation Analysis of RICH-DP for Real-time Service in Multi-Channel Networks (다중채널 무선망에서 실시간 서비스를 제공하기 위한 RICH-DP 시뮬레이션 분석)

  • 무선 근거리 지역망(Wireless LAN;WLAN) 환경에서 다중 채널을 이용하여 실시간 서비스를 제공하기 위한 매체 접근제어 계층에서의 채널의 사용 구간 할당 방법을 제안하고, 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통하여 제한된 방식의 실시간 서비스 지원 성능과 채널의 사용 효율을 분석한다. 제안한 채널 사용 구간 할당 방안은 개선된 매체 접근 제어 프로토콜 RICH-DP (Receiver-Initiated Channel-Hopping with Dual Polling)를 바탕으로 한다. 무선 환경에서 RTS-CTS를 사용하는 프로토콜은 SRMA, MACA, MACAW, IEEE 802.11, FAMA 등이 있다. 최근에 단일 채널을 환경에서 RICH(Receiver Initiated Channel-Mopping) 프로토콜이 제안되었다. RICH는 충돌 회피를 위해서 경쟁 구간에서 충돌 감지(carrier sensing)을 사용한다. RICH는 제한된 어플케이션에 국한되는 단절이 있다. 반면에 RICH-DP는 다중 채널 환경에서 충돌 감지와 특별한 코드(spreading code) 할당 없이 일반화된 충돌 회피를 제공한다. 실시간 서비스를 이용하자 차는 단말들로 하여금 RICH-DP를 사용하여 서비스를 제공할 때, 대역폭에 대한 정보를 AP(Access Point)로 전송토록 함으로써 비경쟁 구간에서 뿐 아니라, 경쟁구간에서도 높은 채널 효율이 얻어질 수 있도록 하고 있다. 제한된 방안의 성능 평가를 위한 모의 실험은 OPNET를 이용하여 실시간 서비스 데이터를 7개의 상태 천이를 갖는 VBR 소스로 모델링하고 비동기 트래픽들은 Poisson 소스로 모델링하여 실시간 서비스 단발들의 이용 대역폭과 채널 처리율과 시스템 지연시간을 성능 평가 인자로 하여 수행하였다. 논문에서 제한된 방법을 적용한 개선된 RICH-DP을 모의 실험을 통하여 분석한 결과 기존의 제한된 RICH-DP는 실시간 서비스에 대한 처리율이 낮아지며 서비스 시간이 보장되지 못했다. 따라서 실시간 서비스에 대한 새로운 제안된 기법을 제안하고 성능 평가한 결과 기존의 RICH-DP보다 성능이 향상됨을 확인 할 수 있었다.

A Study on FSA Application for Human Errors of Dynamic Positioning Vessels Incidents

  • Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) has been mostly implemented on the hardware aspects of vessels. Although there are guidelines regarding human error FSAs, there have not been many assessments in such areas. To this end, this study seeks to use precedent studies for the safe operation of DP vessels, conducting an FSA regarding human error of DP LOP (Loss of Position) incidents. For this, the study referred to precedent studies for the frequency of DP LOP incidents caused by human errors, adding the severity of LOP incidents, and then applying them to the Bayesian network. As a result, the study was able to confirm that among DP LOP incidents caused by human errors, the drive-off from skill-based errors was 74.3% and the drive-off from unsafe supervision was 50.5%. Based on such results, RCOs (Risk Control Options) were devised through a brainstorming session with experts coming up with proposals including providing mandatory DPO training, installing DP simulator on the vessels, drawing up measures to understanding the procedures for safe operation of DP vessels. Moreover, it was found that mandatory DPO training is reasonable in terms of cost benefits and that while installing a DP simulator is not suitable in terms of cost benefits, it can significantly reduce risks when operating DP vessels.

  • This paper presents the target object search algorithm under dynamic programming (DP) in the Tree-type maze. We organized an experimental environment with the concatenation Y-shape diverged way, small mobile robot, and a target object. By the principle of optimality, the backbone of DP, an agent recognizes that a given whole problem can be solved if the values of the best solution of certain ancillary problem can be determined according to the principle of optimality. In experiment, we used two different control algorithms: a left-handed method and DP. Finally we verified the efficiency of DP in the practical application using a real robot.

An auto weather-vaning system for a DP vessel that uses a nonlinear controller and a disturbance observer

  • An auto weather-vaning system for a Dynamic Positioning (DP) vessel is proposed. When a DP vessel is operating, its position keeping is hindered by ocean environmental disturbances which include the ocean current, wave and wind. Generally, most ocean vessels have a longitudinal length that is larger than the transverse width. The largest load acts on the DP vessel by ocean disturbances, when the disturbances are incoming in the transverse direction. Weather-vaning is the concept of making the heading angle of the DP vessel head toward (or sway from) the disturbance direction. This enables the DP vessel to not only perform marine operations stably and safely, but also to maintain its position with minimum control forces (surge & sway components). To implement auto weather-vaning, a nonlinear controller and a disturbance observer are used. The disturbance observer transforms a real plant to the nominal model without disturbance to enhance the control performance. And the nonlinear controller deals with the kinematic nonlinearity. The auto weather-vaning system is completed by adding a weather-vaning algorithm to disturbance based controller. Numerical simulations of a semi-submersible type vessel were performed for the validation. The results show that the proposed method enables a DP vessel to maintain its position with minimum control force.

A development of the dynamic positioning(DP) system and model testing for performance estimation on katamaran type unmanned surface vehicle(USV) at open sea (무인쌍동선의 실해역 DP 성능평가를 위한 시스템 및 모형시험 검증 기법 개발)

  • 선박의 운용 효율을 높일 수 있는 방법인 무인 운용체계는 근래에 많은 관심을 받고 연구되어 왔다. 특히 무인수상선과 무인수중체의(USV-AUV)의 복합 운용 분야는 그 동안 어려움이 있었던 심해저 탐사 및 특수 임무 활용에 용이하여 많은 연구가 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 쌍동선 형태인 무인수상선이 모선이 되고 무인수중체가 결합하여 충전하고 다시 진수하여 원거리 및 심해저 조건에서 무인수중체가 운용 가능하도록 하는 시스템의 일부인 USV-AUV의 docking을 위한 DP 시스템을 개발하고 선박해양플랜트연구소 해양공학수조에서 모형시험을 통해 이를 검증하였다. 또한, 실제 제작된 무인쌍동선과 추진 시스템을 활용하여 모형시험을 통해 검증한 DP 알고리즘을 적용하여 화성 제부도 앞바다에서 실선 DP 테스트를 수행하였다. 실 해역에서의 DP 시스템 테스트는 정확한 환경 조건의 계측 및 구현이 어려워 모형시험과 같은 정량적인 평가는 어렵지만, 정성적으로 DP 시스템이 작동하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Prostaglandin D2 contributes to cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain in rats via DP2 receptor in the spinal cord

  • Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a major reason for stopping or changing anticancer therapy. Among the proposed pathomechanisms underlying CIPN, proinflammatory processes have attracted increasing attention. Here we assessed the role of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) signaling in cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain. Methods: CIPN was induced by intraperitoneal administration of cisplatin 2 mg/kg for 4 consecutive days using adult male Sprague-Dawley rats. PGD2 receptor DP1 and/or DP2 antagonists were administered intrathecally and the paw withdrawal thresholds were measured using von Frey filaments. Spinal expression of DP1, DP2, hematopoietic PGD synthase (H-PGDS), and lipocalin PGD synthase (L-PGDS) proteins were analyzed by western blotting. Results: The DP1 and DP2 antagonist AMG 853 and the selective DP2 antagonist CAY10471, but not the DP1 antagonist MK0524, significantly increased the paw withdrawal threshold compared to vehicle controls (P = 0.004 and P < 0.001, respectively). Western blotting analyses revealed comparable protein expression levels in DP1 and DP2 in the spinal cord. In the CIPN group the protein expression level of L-PGDS, but not of H-PGDS, was significantly increased compared to the control group (P < 0.001). Conclusions: The findings presented here indicate that enhanced PGD2 signaling, via upregulation of L-PGDS in the spinal cord, contributes to mechanical allodynia via DP2 receptors in a cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain model in rats, and that a blockade of DP2 receptor activation may present a novel therapeutic target for managing CIPN.

Effect of DP Finishing Conditions on the Mechanical Properties and Hand of Cotton Fabrics (DP 가공조건이 면직물의 역학적 성질과 태에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of DP finishing conditions including process technique and finishing agent on the mechanical properties and hand of cotton fabrics were investigated. 100% cotton fabrics were treated with NMA/DMDHEU and NMA/YF using wet-fixation and steam-fixation process. For comparison, conventional pad-dry-cure process was used with DMDHEU. After DP finishing, tensile and compressional resilience increased and bending hysteresis decreased, resulting in the improvement of dimensional stability of cotton fabric. WF and SF process rendered fabrics better shear properties, tensile energy, and compressional linearity and energy than PDC process. However, SF process produced fabrics with higher geometrical roughness than WF process. After DP finishing, primary hand values except Koshi increased, resulting in the increase of total hand value of cotton fabric.

  • This paper describes a new phase-difference detection method and the associate process algorithm for calculating the mean value of phase difference detected and OVCXO control value and for monitoring and controlling the DP-PLL operation status to be used in the design of a high-frequency DP-PLL. Through the experiments of DP-PLL implemented with 16-bit processor, memories, pheriperals and OVCXO to eraluate the suggested method and algorithm, it is shown that a remarkable improvement in PLL function such as phase detection, and reference clock tracing capability, jitter absorbability and frequency stability compared with other existing DP-PLL synchronization device is achieved.
