  • SU-8 is a epoxy based photoresist designed for MEMS applications, where a thick, chemically and thermally stable image is desired. But SU-8 has proven to be very sensitive to variation in processing variables and hence difficult to use in the fabrication of useful structures. In this paper, negative SU-8 photoresist processed has been characterized in terms of delamination. Based on a full factorial designed experiment. Employing the design of experiment (DOE), a process parameter is established, and analyzing of full factional design is generated to investigate degree of delamination associated with three process parameters: post exposure bake (PEB) temperature, PEB time, and exposure energy. These results identify acceptable ranges of the three process variables to avoid delamination of SU-8 film, which in turn might lead to potential defects in MEMS device fabrication.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of Robot-Arm part use Design of Experiment(DOE). The DOE(Design of Experiment)was conducted to find out main effect factors for design of Robot-Arm part. In this design of Robot-Arm, 5 control factors include numbers of 4 level are selected and we make out L16 orthogonal array. Using this orthogonal array, find out optimal value and main effect factors of object function for design of Robot-Arm part by 16 times of test. We evidence this optimal value by using CATIA V5 Analysis.

  • In recent years, the demands of the aspherical glass lenses increase since it is difficult to obtain the desirable performance in the plastic lens. Glass lens is manufactured by the forming with high precision mold core. This paper presents the analysis of optimal grinding condition of tungsten carbide(WC, Co0.5%) using design of experiments(DOE). The process parameters are turbin spindle, work spindle, feedrate and depth of cut. The experiments results are evaluated by MINITAB software.

  • The injection molding process has applied to a variety of fields by a development of various plastic resins. Recently, this process has been extending to a field of parts of shoes. In this study, the injection mold of shank which is a one of the parts of shoes has been designed. The position of gate and the injection procedure have been optimized by a simulation using the CAE software and an analysis using the DOE. As a result, the improved injection mold of shank has been manufactured in a short time. Appling the CAE and the DOE at the process of the injection mold design eventually lead an increase in the productivity and the quality of parts.

  • The research presents an application of Balanced ANOVA (BANOVA) by utilizing randomized orders for various Split-Plot Designs (SPDs) which include two cell designs, split-plot with one-way HTC (Hard to Control) factor, split-plot with two-way HTC factor, split-split-plot design and nested design. In addition, four MINITAB examples of 2-level split-plot designs based on the number of blocks and the type of whole-plots are presented for practitioners to obtain comprehensive understanding. Furthermore, the geometrical interrelated properties among three typical Designs of Experiments (DOE), such as Factorial Design (FD), Response Surface Design (RSD), and Mixture Design (MD) are discussed in this paper.

  • The vertical roller mill is the important machine grinding and mixing various crude materials in the manufacturing process of portland cement. Vertical roller mill is subjected to the cyclic bending stress by rollers load. It demands $4{\times}10^7$ cycle but has $4{\times}10^6{\sim}8{\times}10^6$ cycle. It fractures at the edge of grinding path of outside roller. The repair expense for it amounts to 30% of total maintenance. Therefore, this study shows optimal design for vertical roller mill using DOE and neural network.

  • Topology optimization methods are classified into two methods such as the density method and the homogenization method. Those methods need to consider relationships between the material property and the density of each element in a design domain, the relaxation of the design space, etc. However, it is hard to apply on some cases due to the complexity to compose the design objective and its sensitivity analysis. In this paper, a modified topology optimization is proposed to assist designers who do not have mathematical or theoretical background of the topology optimization. In this study, optimal topology of structures can be achieved by the sequential design of experiment (DOE) and the sensitivity analysis. We conducted the DOE with an orthogonal array and the sensitivity analysis of design variables to determine sensitive variables used for connectivity between elements. The modified topology optimization method has advantages such as freedom from penalizing intermediate values and easy application with basic DOE concept.

  • In this paper, we have studied the deformation problem of the scaffold caused by the FDM type 3D printer. The DOE (Design of experiment) and 3SC was used to solve the deformation problem of the scaffold generated from the adhesion surface between the scaffold and the bed. The methodology was used to derive the solution and the experiment was conducted on the derived solution. As a result of evaluating the experimental results obtained for the solution, it was found that the deformation of the scaffold was much improved. By using the DOE, We were possible to derive the output condition of scaffold.
