  • When there is a missing value in the raw data, if ignore the missing values and proceed with the analysis, the accuracy decrease due to the decrease in the number of sample. The method of imputation and analyzing patterns and significant values can compensate for the problem of lower analysis quality and analysis accuracy as a result of bias rather than simply removing missing values. In this study, we proposed to study irregular data patterns and missing processing methods of data using machine learning techniques for the study of correction of missing values. we would like to propose a plan to replace the missing with data from a similar past point in time by finding the situation at the time when the missing data occurred. Unlike previous studies, data correction techniques present new algorithms using DNN and KNN-MLE techniques. As a result of the performance evaluation, the ANAE measurement value compared to the existing missing section correction algorithm confirmed a performance improvement of about 0.041 to 0.321.

  • In this paper, we propose a solution that enables continuous indoor/outdoor positioning of smartphone users through the integration of Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) and GPS/WiFi signals. Considering that accurate step detection affects the accuracy of PDR, we propose a Deep Neural Network (DNN)-based technology to distinguish between walking and non-walking signals such as walking in place. Furthermore, in order to integrate PDR with GPS and WiFi signals, a technique is used to select a proper measurement by distinguishing between indoor/outdoor environments based on GPS Dilution of Precision (DOP) information. In addition, we propose a technology to adaptively change the measurement error covariance matrix by detecting measurement outliers that mainly occur in the indoor/outdoor transition section through a residual-based χ2 test. It is verified through experiments on a testbed that these technologies significantly improve the performance of PDR and PDR/GPS/WiFi fingerprinting-based integrated pedestrian navigation.

  • Recently, manufacturers have been struggling to efficiently use production equipment as their production methods become more sophisticated and complex. Typical factors hindering the efficiency of the manufacturing process include setup cost due to job change. Especially, in the process of using expensive production equipment such as semiconductor / LCD process, efficient use of equipment is very important. Balancing the tradeoff between meeting the deadline and minimizing setup cost incurred by changes of work type is crucial planning task. In this study, we developed a scheduling model to achieve the goal of minimizing the duedate and setup costs by using reinforcement learning in parallel machines with duedate and work preparation costs. The proposed model is a Deep Q-Network (DQN) scheduling model and is a reinforcement learning-based model. To validate the effectiveness of our proposed model, we compared it against the heuristic model and DNN(deep neural network) based model. It was confirmed that our proposed DQN method causes less due date violation and setup costs than the benchmark methods.

  • Nowadays object tracking process becoming one of the most challenging task in Computer Vision filed. A CSR-DCF (channel spatial reliability-discriminative correlation filter) tracking algorithm have been proposed on recent tracking benchmark that could achieve stat-of-the-art performance where channel spatial reliability concepts to DCF tracking and provide a novel learning algorithm for its efficient and seamless integration in the filter update and the tracking process with only two simple standard features, HoGs and Color names. However, there are some cases where this method cannot track properly, like overlapping, occlusions, motion blur, changing appearance, environmental variations and so on. To overcome that kind of complications a new modified version of CSR-DCF algorithm has been proposed by integrating deep learning based object detection and CSRT tracker which implemented in OpenCV library. As an object detection model, according to the comparable result of object detection methods and by reason of high efficiency and celerity of Faster RCNN (Region-based Convolutional Neural Network) has been used, and combined with CSRT tracker, which demonstrated outstanding real-time detection and tracking performance. The results indicate that the trained object detection model integration with tracking algorithm gives better outcomes rather than using tracking algorithm or filter itself.

  • The short-term quantitative precipitation prediction (QPF) system is important socially and economically to prevent damage from severe weather. Recently, many studies for short-term QPF model applying the Deep Neural Network (DNN) has been conducted. These studies require the sophisticated pre-processing because the mistreatment of various and vast meteorological data sets leads to lower performance of QPF. Especially, for more accurate prediction of the non-linear trends in precipitation, the dataset needs to be carefully handled based on the physical and dynamical understands the data. Thereby, this paper proposes the following approaches: i) refining and combining major factors (weather radar, terrain, air temperature, and so on) related to precipitation development in order to construct training data for pattern analysis of precipitation; ii) producing predicted precipitation fields based on Convolutional with ConvLSTM. The proposed algorithm was evaluated by rainfall events in 2020. It is outperformed in the magnitude and strength of precipitation, and clearly predicted non-linear pattern of precipitation. The algorithm can be useful as a forecasting tool for preventing severe weather.

  • In the image field, data augmentation refers to increasing the amount of data through an editing method such as rotating or cropping a photo. In this study, a generative adversarial network (GAN) image was created using CycleGAN, and various colors of dogs were reflected through data augmentation. In particular, dog data from the Stanford Dogs Dataset and Oxford-IIIT Pet Dataset were used, and 10 breeds of dog, corresponding to 300 images each, were selected. Subsequently, a GAN image was generated using CycleGAN, and four learning groups were established: 2,000 original photos (group I); 2,000 original photos + 1,000 GAN images (group II); 3,000 original photos (group III); and 3,000 original photos + 1,000 GAN images (group IV). The amount of data in each learning group was augmented using existing data augmentation methods such as rotating, cropping, erasing, and distorting. The augmented photo data were used to train the MobileNet_v3_Large, ResNet-152, InceptionResNet_v2, and NASNet_Large frameworks to evaluate the classification accuracy and loss. The top-3 accuracy for each deep neural network model was as follows: MobileNet_v3_Large of 86.4% (group I), 85.4% (group II), 90.4% (group III), and 89.2% (group IV); ResNet-152 of 82.4% (group I), 83.7% (group II), 84.7% (group III), and 84.9% (group IV); InceptionResNet_v2 of 90.7% (group I), 88.4% (group II), 93.3% (group III), and 93.1% (group IV); and NASNet_Large of 85% (group I), 88.1% (group II), 91.8% (group III), and 92% (group IV). The InceptionResNet_v2 model exhibited the highest image classification accuracy, and the NASNet_Large model exhibited the highest increase in the accuracy owing to data augmentation.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of extracting speech features for phoneme recognition based on spikegram. The Fourier-transform-based features are widely used in phoneme recognition, but they are not extracted in a biologically plausible way and cannot have high temporal resolution due to the frame-based operation. For better phoneme recognition, therefore, it is desirable to have a new method of extracting speech features, which analyzes speech signal in high temporal resolution following the model of human auditory system. In this paper, we analyze speech signal based on a spikegram that models feature extraction and transmission in auditory system, and then propose a method of feature extraction from the spikegram for phoneme recognition. We evaluate the performance of proposed features by using a DNN-based phoneme recognizer and confirm that the proposed features provide better performance than the Fourier-transform-based features for short-length phonemes. From this result, we can verify the feasibility of new speech features extracted based on auditory model for phoneme recognition.

  • Most of the match-3 puzzle games supports automatic play using the MCTS algorithm. However, implementing reinforcement learning agents is not an easy job because it requires both the knowledge of machine learning and the way of complex interactions within the development environment. This study proposes a method in which we can easily design reinforcement learning agents and implement game play agents by applying PPO(Proximal Policy Optimization) algorithms. And we could identify the performance was increased about 44% than the conventional method. The tools we used are the Unity 3D game engine and Unity ML SDK. The experimental result shows that agents became to learn game rules and make better strategic decisions as experiments go on. On average, the puzzle gameplay agents implemented in this study played puzzle games better than normal people. It is expected that the designed agent could be used to speed up the game level design process.

  • Cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) are widely used in various dredging constructions such as channel excavation, wharf construction, and reef construction. During a CSD construction, the main operation is to control the swing speed of cutter to keep the slurry concentration in a proper range. However, the slurry concentration cannot be monitored in real-time, i.e., there is a "time-lag effect" in the log of slurry concentration, making it difficult for operators to make the optimal decision on controlling. Concerning this issue, a solution scheme that using real-time monitored indicators to predict current slurry concentration is proposed in this research. The characteristics of the CSD monitoring data are first studied, and a set of preprocessing methods are presented. Then we put forward the concept of "index class" to select the important indices. Finally, an ensemble learning algorithm is set up to fit the relationship between the slurry concentration and the indices of the index classes. In the experiment, log data over seven days of a practical dredging construction is collected. For comparison, the Deep Neural Network (DNN), Long Short Time Memory (LSTM), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT), and the Bayesian Ridge algorithm are tried. The results show that our method has the best performance with an R2 of 0.886 and a mean square error (MSE) of 5.538. This research provides an effective way for real-time predicting the slurry concentration of CSDs and can help to improve the stationarity and production efficiency of dredging construction.
