The results of this study an be summarized as follows. First, after taking the class introducing environmental issues and having a debate other students on the issue both within a small group or all classmates together, just less then 30% of the students changed their selections. In addition, this study examined the mediating effects of social presence. Participants were 46 undergraduate students in A university in Seoul, Korea. They responded the following surveys: task value, twitter self-efficacy, social presence, and learning satisfaction. Baron & Kenny (1986)'s mediation analysis approach with correlation and multiple regression analyses were applied to this study. Findings showed the significant effects of task value, twitter self-efficacy, and social presence on satisfaction on twitter discussion. In addition, social presence mediated task value, twitter self-efficacy, and satisfaction. These results suggest that the twitter discussion should be designed to accommodate different learners characteristics such as task value and twitter self-efficacy and promote greater social presence between learners.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of scientific argumentation and its development in the process of mutual discussion activities by elementary school students in the 5th grade. The results of this study can be summarized as below: First, students used diversity argumentation components for solving the given argumentation theme, however, most students used the assertion or the basis of a simple expression of their own thoughts as a high ratio, and components of a one directional explanatory argumentation process rather than components of a mutual communicative argumentation process. Second, an asymmetric group showed a high-use ratio of communicative argumentation components and achieved argumentation activities harmoniously between a symmetric group and an asymmetric group in organization of groups for solving argumentation themes. It was found that students in the transitional period showed the highest rate of participation within the discussion process. Moreover, they also showed the highest rate of development of discussion skills whilst in the process of using scientific problems. In conclusion, this phenomenon is caused by highlighting the mutual action between the teacher and the student rather than placing an emphasis on the mutual action among students during field instructions.

  • In this study, learning materials that can be applied for web-based distant learning model were developed based on the characteristics of elementary school science in which investigation skills and thinking ability are considered to be important. And the effect of students' activity in a discussion room on student's investigating and thinking ability was investigated. Through very active on-line discussion, students showed their ability to come up with new ideas and to design and implement diverse experimental methods. Especially, since all of the study tasks given to the students were aimed to utilize experimental means and tools that are so common in everyday life, shortfalls that might reside in the web-based distant learning program could be overcome and students' investigative activity might be stimulated.

  • Objectives : Evaluating water and its comparisons to Yin(陰) and Yang(陽). In this section, we will look into this matter from Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑) and introduce an oriental perspective on the subject of water(水部). Methods : Translating Eumchanboksikjeon(飮饌服食牋) from Junsangpaljeon(遵生八牋). An in depth study of related contents and comparing to the water section(水部) of Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑) Results : According to the section of Varieties of Teas and Water(茶泉類) in The Discussion of Springs(論泉水), Goryum(高濂) divided water into five different types in Eumchanboksikjeon(飮饌服食牋) of Junsangpaljeon(遵生八牋). These different types are Water that runs between rocks, Clear and cold water, Sweet and fragrant water, Spiritual water and Well water. Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑) also analyzed 28 different types of water out the 33 its list. The idea is that one must use water differently according its origins, where it originated, when and what season to maximize the usage of the water because the energy of water would be different. Conclusions : By evaluating water, we have learned that water picks up energy and changes according to its surrounding environments. The different types of water used changes the medicinal ingredients and it affects the human body differently. One must keep in mind, the cycles of water, its energy and how it helps us live a healthier life.

  • This study aimed to explore group members' collaborative information by analyzing the number and the content of text contributions on the online discussion board in the group-based research project. This study explored graduate students' collaborative information behavior, affective approach, and types of collaboration and support needed in the group-based research project based on Kuhlthau's Information Search Process(ISP) Model and Yue and He's Collaborative Information Behavior(CIB) Model. It is expected that the results of this study will be useful for understanding of CIB in the group-based research project and applying information literacy instruction to information user in collaboration.
