Analysis and signal stability measurement for DGPS radio wave propagation (DGPS 전파 신호의 안정도 측정 및 분석)

  • The stability of DGPS signal in the DGPS service area was measured and the service availability according to the receiving signal strength was analyzed in this paper. Based on the effects of radio wave propagation in the seasons of winter and summer, daytime and night, the method to provide the DGPS service coverage was presented in this paper. The signal's strength of DGPS radio wave were measured at a constant distance from the DGPS reference station during a constant period. The propagation of DGPS radio wave is affected by status of ground conductivity, so the DGPS service area is dependant on the ground conductivity. To provide the stable service coverage, it is necessary to apply the adaptive power control for receiving signal's variations and the antenna design for alleviation of high elevation's radiation.

DGPS service analysis in the korean coastal ferry route (국내 연안 여객선 항로에서의 DGPS 서비스 분석)

  • Based on the DGPS radio wave measurement in the coast of the yellow-sea, south-sea and east-sea, the DGPS service regions in the korean coastal ferry route are analyzed in this paper. The impact of obstacles on the propagation due to the archipelago and island regions are measured and analyzed in the point of service region. The ocean-based DGPS reference stations provide the wide DGPS ocean service regions with signal strength more than $40dB{\mu}V/m$ and signal-to-noise ratio more than 10 dB. Based on the overlapping of the service regions between the DGPS reference stations, the DGPS services with good quality are provided in the coastal ferry route segments. In case of regions where the propagation obstacles are scattered, the increasingly good service can be provided under conditions of output power reinforcement and antenna efficiency enhancement.

  • 미국의 전파항법정책(FRP Federal Radionavigation Plan)은 여전히 SA정책(미국방성에서 GPS 위성 궤도에 오차를 실어 전파발사를 하는 정책)을 유지하고 있고, P(Y)코드 접속에 의한 고정밀 위치정보 사용 역시 미군 및 NATO군 등 미 국방성에서 인가한 사용자에게만 허용되고 있는 관계로 그 외의 사용자는 3차원 고정밀 위치정보가 요구되는 항공기 이착륙 유도시스템, 해ㆍ육상 정밀 구조/탐색 및 육ㆍ해ㆍ공 특수목적 등에 군사용 P(Y)코드대신 DGPS를 사용하고 있다. 본 연구는 한반도 남해안 및 동해안 일부까지를 유효거리로 하고 있는 일본 Marine Radiobeaeon/DGPS 시스템에 대한 한반도 연근해에서의 위치정보 사용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 한반도 남해안에서 측정 가능한 일본 DGPS국을 선택 모델로 하여 DGPS Data 측정실험 및 위치정보 정밀도 분석을 하였다. 연구결과 군사용 P(Y) 코드수준의 정밀도를 유지하고 있어 곧 구축 예정인 한국형 DGPS 국가망과 함께 선택적으로 사용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Service analysis and propagation measurement for DGPS land-based reference station in Korea (국내 DGPS 내륙 기준국 전파 측정 및 서비스 분석)

  • Based on the radio wave propagation measurement of DGPS land-based reference stations, the DGPS service coverage and signal quality in the receiving points are analyzed in this paper. The DGPS signal strength and SNR in the receiving point are measured in the winter and summer season, respectively. In case of DGPS reference station that can not provide the designed service coverage, the solution to improve the service coverage is presented in this paper. Almost all DGPS reference station except reference station with low ground conductivity or mountainous terrain provide the DGPS service coverages of 80% or more of the designed service area. The service coverages of DGPS reference stations can be improved to pre-designed service area in case of installation management of DGPS site on the plain terrain and good ground conductivity. It is necessary to get the high efficiency of transmitting antenna to improve the service area.

A Study on the DGPS Radiobeacon Propagation Measurement of Domestic Ferry Lines (우리나라 선박 항로구간의 DGPS 전파 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Starting with maritime DGPS base stations of Palmido, Ochongdo which have been operated since 1999, truly our nation has become the most powerful country possessed with total of 17 DGNSS base stations in the field of DGNSS operation infrastructure. This paper examines into the country's DGNSS services as measuring the service range of the maritime DGPS base stations in the domestic ferry lines which sections are from Jeju to Incheon, from Busan to Jeju, from Jeju to Nokdong, the propagation characteristics of the radio waves of 300 kHz bands on sea and land path. As a result of identifying the service range of the DGPS in the sea routes of the southern sea and the western sea, the measured results of the DGPS signals are confirmed more than 100 NM(recommended service range). It can be possible to practical use the position information, which is safe navigation and various marine traffic management systems. It will be useful an expansion of maritime DGPS reference station in the near future.

Analysis on the Performance Degradations of Chung-Ju DGPS Reference Station by Radio Environment (전파환경에 의한 DGPS 충주 기준국의 성능저하 분석)

  • DGPS Reference station is established in Korea for improvement of GPS navigation accuracy and needs of integrity. Recently, DGPS stations provide user positioning information on land as well as ocean. However, this paper investigated visibility and interference environment for performance degradation of Chung-ju DGPS reference station. In case of Young-do reference station, visibility and interference environment were satisfied with reference standard. In case of Chung-ju reference station, visibility was satisfied with 7 degree elevation angle. However, interference environment was not satisfied with reference standard of -50dBm. This paper proposed time differential measurement analysis method excluding error of signal noise for analyzing measurement error. Chung-ju reference station measurement analysis result is three times the error than on Young-do in Dec, 2015. In addition, this paper has confirmed measurement performance degradations because of reference station equipment problem. Future study will be carried out performance analysis of 17 DGPS reference station.

Analysis and measurement of service area of ocean-based DGPS reference station in Korea (국내 해상 DGPS 기준국의 서비스 영역 측정 및 분석)

  • Based on the radio wave measurement of korean ocean-based DGPS by season, in this paper, the service coverages of ocean-based DGPS reference stations were analyzed according to the climate and season. The signal strengths and signal-to-noise ratios in the land service areas that are provided by ocean-based DGPS reference stations were measured. The ocean-based DGPS reference station except reference stations on the mountainous terrain and the low ground conductivity provide more than 68% service area in comparison with the designed land service coverage providing by the ocean-based DGPS reference stations. To provide the designed service area that is unrelated to a season, it is necessary to install and operate the DGPS reference station with good ground conductivity and high efficiency antenna. Also, the poor service regions which is generated by obstacles of electric wave on pathway can be resolved by the double service area providing by land-based DGPS reference stations.

Signal Coverages of DGPS Beacon Stations in Korea (우리나라 DGPS 보정국의 위치보정신호의 이용범위)

  • For the purpose of comparison between the designed coverage and actual coverage of Korean DGPS (Differential Global Position System) beacon stations, we have received the ship‘s positions with states and IDs of their stations on the navigation route of Jeju-Tianjin by automatic selection mode of DGPS receiver and on them of Jeju-Inchun and Jeju-Vladibostok by manual mode. Also in case that some obstructions were on propagation routes from DGPS beacon stations to receiving positions, a restriction on available ranges of DGPS beacon signals was investigated. The results obtained are as follows : 1. The coverage of Korean DGPS beacon stations was designed 100NM (Nautical mails) at 40.0dB(over ${\mu}$V/m). But the actual coverages of them according to their stations and propagation routes were 0.3-3.6 times as wide as designed coverage. 2. In case that the propagation route of beacon signals from DGPS beacon stations was on the sea, the propagation distance of north direction from the stations was longer than south direction. 3. The coverages of Echongdo and Ulungdo stations were 366NM on the yellow sea and 342.3NM on the east sea of Korea respectively, and were widest than any other stations. 4. The coverage of Marado station on the south and yellow seas of Korea was very unstable because of the Halla mountain on the propagation route. Maximum receiving range to be measured by automatic selection mode of DGPS receiver was 145NM on the route of Jeju-Tianjin on June 22-July 1, 2002. Minimum receiving range to be not measured by manual selection mode was 28.7NM on the route of Jeju-Inchun on June 26-28, 2003

  • Reseatch and Analysis on the DGPS radiobeacon propagation measurement of Domestic ferry lines Starting with maritime DGPS Base stations of Palmido, Ochongdo which have been operated since 1999, truly our nation has become the most powerful country possessed with total of 17 DGNSS base stations in the field of DGNSS operation infrastructure.   • 우리나라에서는 1995년 5월 서해권 DGPS 보정정보 전송 서비스를 시작으로 NDGPS 기준국망 구축을 완료하고, 선박의 안전한 항행을 위해 실시간 DGPS 보정정보를 국내 연안과 도서지역에 송신하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 NDGPS와 유사한 보정정보 서비스로서 우리나라에서도 수신이 가능한 일본의 위성기반 보정위성항법체계인 MSAS와 현재 우리나라에서 VHF 대역으로 서비스하고 있는 NDGPS 의 성능을 항해장비 이용 관점에서 비교분석한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 NDGPS 기준국과 이용자 사이의 기저거리를 기준으로 보정정보 도달시간과 수평측위 정확도를 측정한다. 그리고, NDGPS 와 MSAS 간의 성능차이와 항해장비용 보정시스템으로서 MSAS 적용 가능성에 대한 분석결과를 보인다.
