In this paper we propose Fourier magnitudes based privacy preserving clustering on time-series data. The previous privacy-preserving method, called DFT coefficient method, has a critical problem in privacy-preservation itself since the original time-series data may be reconstructed from privacy-preserved data. In contrast, the proposed DFT magnitude method has an excellent characteristic that reconstructing the original data is almost impossible since it uses only DFT magnitudes except DFT phases. In this paper, we first explain why the reconstruction is easy in the DFT coefficient method, and why it is difficult in the DFT magnitude method. We then propose a notion of distance-order preservation which can be used both in estimating clustering accuracy and in selecting DFT magnitudes. Degree of distance-order preservation means how many time-series preserve their relative distance orders before and after privacy-preserving. Using this degree of distance-order preservation we present greedy strategies for selecting magnitudes in the DFT magnitude method. That is, those greedy strategies select DFT magnitudes to maximize the degree of distance-order preservation, and eventually we can achieve the relatively high clustering accuracy in the DFT magnitude method. Finally, we empirically show that the degree of distance-order preservation is an excellent measure that well reflects the clustering accuracy. In addition, experimental results show that our greedy strategies of the DFT magnitude method are comparable with the DFT coefficient method in the clustering accuracy. These results indicate that, compared with the DFT coefficient method, our DFT magnitude method provides the excellent degree of privacy-preservation as well as the comparable clustering accuracy.
In this work, we suggest another method to localize DFT in spatial domain. This enables DFT algorithm to be used for local pattern matching. Once calculated, it costs same load to calculate localized DFT regardless of the size or the position of local region In spatial domain. We applied this method to face detection problem and got the results which prove the utility of our method.

Recently, the DFT-Spread OFDM has been studied for the PAPR reduction. However, the DFT-Spread OFDM produces more ICI and SCI problems than OFDM because phase offset mismatch of the DFT spreading code results from the random phase noise in the oscillator. In this paper, at first, phase noise influence on the DFT-Spread OFDM system is theoretically analyzed in terms of the BER performance. Then, the conventional ICI self-cancellation methods are discussed and two kinds of ICI self-cancellation methods are newly proposed. Lastly, a new DFT-Spread OFDM system which selectively adopts the ICI self-cancellation technique is proposed to resolve the interference problem and PAPR reduction simultaneously. Proposednew DFT-Spread OFDM system can minimize performance degradation caused by phase noise, and still maintain the low PAPR property. Among the studied methods, DFT-Spread OFDM with data-conjugate method or newly proposed symmetric data-conjugate method show the significant performance improvements, compared with the DFT-Spread OFDM without ICI self-cancellation schemes. The data-conjugate method is slightly better than symmetric data-conjugate method.

In this paper, we propose a selective DFT spreading method to solve a high PAPR problem in uplink OFDMA system. A selective characteristic is added to the DFT spreading, so the DFT spreading method is mixed with SLM method. However, to minimize increment of computational complexity, differently with common SLM method, our proposed method uses only one DFT spreading block. After DFT, several copy branches are generated by multiplying with each different matrix. This matrix is obtained by linear transforming the each phase rotation in front of DFT block. And it has very lower computational complexity than one DFT process. For simulation, we suppose that the 512 point IFFT is used, the number of effective sub-carrier is 300, the number of allowed sub-carrier to each user's is 1/4 and 1/3 and QPSK modulation is used. From the simulation result, when the number of copy branch is 4, our proposed method has more than about 5.2 dB PAPR reduction effect. It is about 1.8 dB better than common DFT spreading method and 0.95 dB better than common SLM which uses 32 copy branches. And also, when the number of copy branch is 2, it is better than SLM using 32 copy branches. From the comparison, the proposed method has 91.79 % lower complexity than SLM using 32 copy branches in similar PAPR reduction performance. So, we can find a very good performance of our proposed method. Also, we can expect the similar performance when all number of sub-carrier is allocated to one user like the OFDM.

This paper presents a new index mapping method for DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) and its application to multidimensional DFT. Unlike conventional index mapping methods such as DIT (Decimation in Time) or DIF (Decimation in Frequency) algorithms, the proposed method is based on two levels of decomposition and it can be very efficiently used for implementing multidimensional DFT as well as 1-dimensional DFT. The proposed pipelined architecture for multidimensional DFT is very flexible so that it can lead to the best tradeoff between performance and hardware requirements. Also, it can be easily extended to higher dimensional DFTs since the number of CEs (Computational Elements) and DCs (Delay Commutators) increase only linearly with the dimension. Various implementation options based on different radices and different pipelining depths will be presented.

In this paper we compare two frequency domain digital watermarking methods for digital Images, namely DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) based and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) based methods. Unlike DCT coefficients, which always have real values, DFT coefficients normally have complex values Therefore, the DFT coefficients have amplitude and phase components Among them, the phase components are known to carry more Important information for the Images. So, we insert the watermark to the phase of the DFT coefficients only This DFT watermarking method is compared with the conventional DCT based watermarking method for the object-based watermarking problem. Experimental results show that the DFT-phase based method IS more robust to general Image processing attacks including resize, lossy compression(JPEG), blurring and median filtering. On the other hand, the DCT based method is more robust to the malicious attack which inserts different watermarks.

In this paper, An efficient non-scan DFT method for datapaths described in RTL is proposed. The proposed non-scan DFT method improves testability of datapaths based on hierarchical testability analysis regardless to width of the datapath. It always guarantees higher fault efficiency and faster test pattern generation time with little hardware overhead than previous methods. The experimental result shows the superiority of the proposed method of test pattern generation time, application time, and area overhead compared to the scan method.

DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) is one of the most widely used method to estimate the phasor of a relaying signal. The harmonics are eliminated by the DFT. However, high frequency components, except for harmonics, are not removed and cause an error in DFT-based phasor estimation process. This paper suggests high frequency noise reduction method by using a newly designed low-pass filter to estimate a signal phasor. When selecting a stop-band cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter, high frequency components generated by faults are considered. To reduce the phasor estimation delay caused by a low-pass filter, this paper proposes a low-pass filter whose settling time is reduced. An adverse effect of high frequency noise on DFT-based phasor estimation is reduced. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, signals which are collected under a fault condition at a 345[kV] transmission system modeled by EMTP-RV are used.
The effect of the DFT methods and basis sets on harmine molecule has been investigated. 26 DFT methods with 6 basis sets were used. Two main comparison chosen DFT methods in this work has been investigated. It is concluded that this contribution is very important and cannot be neglected. In the following analysis, changes in energy levels were investigated by two different methods. Considering a specific basis set, changes in energy levels were obtained using different DFT methods. A specific DFT method is chosen and changes in energy levels have been investigated by means of various basis sets. Effect of the choice of basis sets on geometrical parameters on harmine molecule has also been investigated.

As an FMT (Filtered Multi-Tone) transmission method of Wideband VHF communication system specified by the ETS (European Telecommunications Standards) EN 300 392-2, this paper introduces three existing realization methods, i.e., the direct filtering method using different band SRRC (Square-Root Raised Cosine) filters for each subcarrier, the PPN-DFT method using the IDFT-PPN (Poly-Phase Network) and PPN-DFT at the transmitter and receiver, respectively, and the Extended DFT method. Then, it proposes the extended IDFT-SDFT (Sliding Discrete Fourier Transform) that computes the DFT values only for interested subcarriers every sample time, and shows that it has an advantage of blind symbol timing (using no training symbol) individually for each user signal (independently of other users' signals) in the multi-user environment where the subcarriers are assigned in contiguous or interleaved blocks to each user and each user signal possibly experiences different channels.
