  • We obtained ultra-short single pulse with an energy of 80 of from self Q-switched Distributed Feedback Dye Laser. Using three stages of amplifiers constructed by two stages of dye amplifiers and one bethune cell amplifier, we obtained high power pulse and second harmonic generation with BBO in ultraviolet region.

  • The amplifier properties of single distributed feedback dye laser with 106 ps pulse width and 616 nm wavelength were invested using only one XeCl-excimer laser as pump source. For optimized amplification of DFDL, the three-stage amplifiers were arranged with increasing cross-section and accordingly increasing pump energies. The first AmpI, II stages were dye cell of 5 mm, 10 mm and contained a $6{\times}10^{-4}$ [mol/l](solvent : Methanol) of Rhodamine 610. Double-pass amplification in the AmPII was measured to suppress the ASE by using a diffraction grating. The beam intensity of AmpI, II was saturated with a gain of respectively 10 and 48. The last AmpIII was Bethune cell of 30 mm and contained a $3{\times}10^ {-4}$ [mol/l] (solvent : Ethanol) of Rhodamine 610. In the single-pass and double-pass amplification, the output energy was obtained 168.2 $\mu$J and 471$\mu$J respectively.

  • A rate equation model describing the ultrashort pulse formation is presented. The temporal and energy behavior of the distributed feedback dye laser predicted by the model has been compared the earlier papers on DFDL's. The observed good agreement allows application of the theoretical model for picosecond laser.

  • We have obtained ultra-short pulses with a wavelength of 616 nm from a Distributed Feedback Dye Laser pumped by excimer laser. Using the second harmonic generation, we obtained ultra-short pulse at 308nm in ultraviolet region and also performed amplification in 3 stages of XeCl amplifiers.

  • We have measured nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient of optical materials by using a far-field phase modulation technique. The phase variation of the probe beam in the nonlinear material is transformed into the spatial phase modulation in the far-field so that the spatial distribution of the optical intensity in conjunction with the computer simulation analysis can give the nonlinear optical constants. We have obtained the nonlinear refractive indices and nonlinear absorption coefficient of $CS_2$ and $BaF_2$ by fitting the experimental values and numerical simulation analysis of far-field measurements. The nonlinear refractive indices of $CS_2$ and $BaF_2$were obtained as $1.2{\times}10^{-11}$ esu and $1.0{\times}10^{-13}$ esu, respectively at 616 nm, and the nonlinear absorption coefficient of BaF$_2$as $5.0{\times}10^{-11}$cm/W at 308nm. These measured values were in good agreement with previous reports.

  • Web Services allow a user to integrate applications from different platforms and languages. Since mobile applications often run on heterogeneous platforms and conditions, Web Service becomes a popular solution for integrating with server applications. However, because of its verbosity, XML based SOAP messaging gives the possible overhead to the less powerful mobile devices. Based on the mobile client's behavior that it usually exchanges messages with Web Service continuously in a session, we design the Handheld Flexible Representation architecture. Our proposed architecture consists of three main components: optimizing message representation by using a data format language (Simple_DFDL), streaming communication channel to reduce latency and the Context-store to store context information of a session as well as redundant parts of the messages. In this paper, we focus on the Context-store and describe the architecture with the Context-store for improving the performance of mobile Web Service messaging. We verify our approach by conducting various evaluations and investigate the performance and scalability of the proposed architecture. The empirical results show that we save 40% of transit time between a client and a service by reducing the message size. In contrast to solutions for a single problem such as the compression or binarization, our architecture addresses the problem at a system level. Thus, by using the Context-store, we expect reliable recovery from the fault condition and enhancing interoperability as well as improving the messaging performance.
