  • The dead-end anode (DEA) system is a method that closes the anode outlet and supplies fuel by pressure. The DEA method could improve fuel usage and power efficiency through system simplification. However, flooding occurs due to water and nitrogen back diffusion from the cathode to the anode during the DEA operation. Flooding is a cause of decreased fuel cell performance and electrode degradation. Therefore, tthe structure and components of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) should be optimized to prevent anode flooding during DEA operation. In this study, the effect of a porous flow field with metal foam on fuel cell performance and fuel efficiency improvement was investigated in the DEA system. As a result, fuel cell performance and purge interval were improved by effective water management with a porous flow field at the cathode, and it was confirmed that cathode flow field structure affects water back-diffusion. On the other hand, the effect of the porous flow field at the anode on fuel cell performance was insignificant. Purge interval was affected by metal foam properties and shown stable performance with large cell size metal foam in the DEA system.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric productivity analysis tool, has become an accepted approach for assessing efficiency in a wide range of fields. Despite of its extensive applications, some features of DEA remain bothersome. DEA offers no guidelines to where relatively inefficient DMU(Decision Making Unit) improve since a reference set of an inefficient DMU consists of several efficient DMUs and it doesn't provide a stepwise path for improving the efficiency of each inefficient DMU considering the difference of efficiency. We aim to show that DEA can be used to evaluate the efficiency of System Integration Projects and suggest the methodology which overcomes the limitation of DEA through hybrid analysis utilizing DEA along with machine learning.

  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric productivity analysis tool, has become an accepted approach for assessing efficiency in a wide range of fields. Despite of its extensive applications and merits, some features of DEA remain bothersome. DEA offers no guideline about to which direction relatively inefficient DMUs improve since a reference set of an inefficient DMU, several efficient DMUs, hardly provides a stepwise path for improving the efficiency of the inefficient DMU.In this paper, we aim to show that DEA can be used to evaluate the efficiency of life insurance companies while overcoming its limitation with the aids of machine learning methods.

  • In this study, we had investigated several input factors and output factors, to maintain safety management, of domestic shipping companies, and then had analyzed the efficiency of performance of performance about each shipping companies' safety management system from 1998 year to 2004 year using DEA method As the result of analysis, the annual mean efficiency of total companies tended downward every year. Analysis was that the cause was increase of the cost of repairing ship, the cost of ship's stores and idle day of ship.

  • In this paper, we propose a data envelopment analysis (DEA) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) integrated model to improve the selection process in the acquisition of a weapon system which is the key component to the success of the project. In particular, we applied DEA in the first stage to choose a frontier group among the candidates in the selection process of the next-generation fighter system (the 3rd FX) in Korea. Then, by using the Delphi technique, we surveyed military experts and applied AHP to determine the best choice among the candidates. The results of the study match the actual decision made by the Korean government in the weapon system acquisition. The results of the proposed DEA-AHP integrated method in the selection of the next-generation fighter systems in Korea demonstrate the usefulness of the method. In this paper, we also discuss the future implications of the proposed model.

  • A hollow fiber membrane containing BSA as ligand was Prepared by radiation-induced grafting GMA onto a porous polyethylene hollow fiber and subsequent reacting with DEA and TEA. The density of the DEA and TEA of the membrane were 3.4 mmol/g, 1.7r mmol/g, respectively. The DEA membrane exhibited a higher amount of than the TEA membrane. BSA was immobilized by the graft chains during the permeation of BSA solution throught the DEA and TEA membrane. The BSA was adsorbed in multilayer binding of 8 onto the DEA membrane whereas adsorption onto the TEA membrane remained constant. A two-stage stepwise BTC was observed due to independent chiral recognition for L, D-Trp solution by DEA-BSA membrane.

  • This paper attempts to improve the typical DEA model that is often used as a performance evaluation method for service firms. The after-sales service system in a Korean electronic company is chosen as a sample case. The performance evaluation method currently practiced in the firm was reviewed and some critical issues of the current method were discussed. DEA model would be considered a solution for solving those Issues. However, typical DEA models has various drawbacks in determining the weights over evaluation criteria. Proposed is the priority-constrained DEA model that accommodates the strategic Importance of each evaluation criterion. The results of the proposed model are compared with those of typical DEA models. It is shown that the priority-constrained DEA model is superior to the others in terms of evaluation quality.

  • The focus of this study is to represent a methodology of analysis for integrated logistic system by means of the Evolution Strategies and Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). The integrated logistic system is composed of AS/RS (Automated Storages and Retrieval System), AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicle System) and Conveyor System. We design the simulation alternatives with choosing the qualitative critical factors for the each subsystem. Evolution Strategies is used to optimize the quantitative critical factors and responses of each alternative. DEA is applied to measure the efficiency of the alternatives in order to select the optimal operation efficiency scheme. The method of analysis which combines Evolution Strategies with DEA can be used to analyze the qualitative and quantitative critical factors in the integrated logistic systems.

This paper analyzes the efficiency of introducing companies of ERP system using DEA model. We also suggest the introducing of ERP system which can be benchmarked based on analyzed information. We evaluate the CCR, BCC efficiency and RTS of 38 introducing companies of ERP system. The result shows that three enterprises whose values of CCR efficiency are 1, and seven enterprises whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. RTS indicates IRS of 22 companies. DRS of 2 companies and CRS of 4 companies.
