A low power SRAM using supply voltage charge recycling (SVCR-SRAM) scheme is proposed. It divides into two SRAM cell blocks and supplies two different powers. A supplied power is $V_{DD}$ and $V_{DD}/2$. The other is $V_{DD}/2$ and GND. When N-bit cells are accessed, the charge used in N/2-bit cells with VDD and $V_{DD}/2$ is recycled in the other N/2-bit cells with $V_{DD}/2$ and GND. The SVCR scheme is used in the power consuming parts which bit line, data bus, word line, and SRAM cells to reduce dynamic power. The other parts of SRAM use $V_{DD}$ and GND to achieve high speed. Also, the SVCR-SRAM results in reducing leakage power of SRAM cells due to the body-effect. A 64K-bit SRAM ($8K{\times}8$bits) is implemented in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. It saves 57.4% write power and 27.6% read power at $V_{DD}=1.8V$ and f=50MHz.
This study was conducted to estimate the effects of fire intensity and recovery methods on coleopteran communities in three burned forests, Goseong, Gangneung, and Samcheok in Gangwon province, Korea. Four sampling sites were selected in each study area according to disturbance degree (DD) caused by fire intensity and recovery methods. DD in the study sites were categorized as 0 (no fire), 1 (weak fire), 2 (strong fire), and 3 (strong fire followed by human disturbance). Beetles collected by pitfall traps were classified into 3 functional guilds: detritivore, herbivore, and carnivore. Diversity and abundance were slightly higher in the burned sites (DD = 1-3) than in the unburned sites (DD = 0), although there was no statistical significance. Coleopteran communities differed according to fire intensity and recovery method. This suggests that recovery of burned forests using both natural recovery and reforestation may increase the diversity of coleopteran communities.

Nonlinear filters which are utilized rank-order information and temporal-order information, have many proposed, in order to restore nonstationary signals which are corrupted by additive noise. In this paper, we propose a data-dependent LWOS filter whose coefficients change based on local statistics. LWOS(Linear Combination of Weighted Order Statistics) filters[1]which also utilized two informations, and have properties of efficient impulsive and nonimpulsive noise attenuation and sufficiently details and edges preservation. DD-LWOS filters can remove non-impulsive oises while preserving signal details. DD-LWOS2 filter gets more better performance than DD-LWOS filter when input image corrupted by additive noise which includes Impulsive noise components.
There have been various recent methods proposed in detecting driver drowsiness (DD) to avert fatal accidents. This work proposes a hardware/software (HW/SW) co-design approach in implementation of a DD detection system adapted from an AdaBoost-based object detection algorithm with Haar-like features [1] to monitor driver's eye closure rate. In this work, critical functions of the DD detection algorithm is accelerated through custom hardware components in order to speed up processing, while the software component implements the overall control and logical operations to achieve the complete functionality required of the DD detection algorithm. The HW/SW architecture was implemented on an Altera DE2 board with a video daughter board. Performance of the proposed implementation was evaluated and benchmarked against some recent works.

This paper proposes efficient routing scheme named MP-DD(MultiPath-Direct Diffusion) which is simple enough to be applicable to the wireless sensor networks. Conventional DD uses only one optimal path, therefore it consumes more energy of specific nodes. MP-DD uses multiple path and has a information of hop upstream node in the direction of the base-station is determined which are obtainable via the process of self-organization of the network. Simulation results show the feasibility of the simple routing schemes for the sensor networks.
Bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a potent stimulator of bone resorption in periodontitis. Co-culture systems of mouse calvaria-derived osteoblasts and bone marrow-derived preosteoclasts were used as an in vitro osteoclast differentiation. This study revealed that co-cultures using ddY or ICR mouse strain responded differently to LPS while responded equally to $1{\alpha},25(OH)_2D_3$. Thus, the different response to LPS indicates dissimilarity of two mouse stains in their capacity for generating osteoclasts while the two mouse strains share the similarity in response to $1{\alpha},25(OH)_2D_3$. To identify which cells between osteoblasts and preosteoclasts in the co-culture are responsible for the dissimilarity, the reciprocal co-cultures were performed between ddY and ICR mouse strains. The treatment of $1,25(OH)_2D_3$ to ddY/ICR (osteoblasts from ddY/preosteoclasts from ICR) and ICR/ddY reciprocal co-cultures also showed the similarity. In case of LPS treatment, the results of ddY/ICR were similar to ddY/ddY and the results of the other reciprocal co-culture, ICR/ddY combination, were consistent with those of ICR/ICR. It suggests that the dissimilarity between the two mouse strains may resident in osteoblasts but not in preosteoclasts. Therefore, the osteoblast is responsible for mouse strain-dependent osteoclastogenesis in response to LPS. Although mouse models will continue to provide insights into molecular mechanisms of osteoclastogenesis, caution should be exercised when using different mouse strains, especially ddY and ICR strains as models for osteoclast differentiation.
The effects of aphidicolin (APC), an inhibitor of DNA polymerase alpha, or 2', 3'-dideoxythymidine 5'-triphosphate (ddTTP), an inhibitor of DNA polymerase beta, on the repair of DNA damage induced by ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) or bleomycin (BLM) were investigated in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO)-K1 cells. Three assays were employed in this study: unscheduled DNA synthesis, alkaline elution and alkaline sucrose gradient sedimentation. It was shown that APC or ddTTP inhibited DNA induced by EMS, and thus, the post-treatment with APC or ddTTP following EMS treatment was resulted in the more amount of unscheduled DNA synthesis, and the more accumulation of DNA single-stand breaks than the cells post-incubated without APC or ddTTP. While, in the BLM induced DNA repair, only ddTTP inhibited DNA repair induced by BLM. And thus, the groups post-incubated with or without APC after BLM treatment had the same value in the amount of unscheduled DNA synthesis and of DNA single-strand breaks, while post-treatment with ddTTP was resulted in the increased amount of unscheduled DNA synthesis and the increased DNA sin -strand breaks than the group without ddTTP. These results suggested that both of DNA polymerase $\alpha$ and $\beta$ participated in the repair of DNA damage induced by EMS, but in BLM-induced DNA repair, polymerase $\beta$ participated.ipated.
Cheonggukjang is one of the traditional fermented soy-based foods in Korean diets. Studies in cell cultures, humans have revealed anti-hypertension, anti-stress, anticancer, antioxidant, immune enhancing effects. Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix, and Red ginseng are popular medicinal plants and widely used for oriental medicine. In this study a strategy had been developed to mobilize beneficial phenolics from Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix, and Red ginseng combined with fermented soy by Cheonggukjang fermentation for antioxidant and Type II diabetes management. The quality and functional characteristics of Chenggukjang fermented with Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix and Red ginseng. Cheonggukjang (CKJ), Angelica gigas Cheonggukjang (CKJ-DD), Rehmanniae radix Cheonggukjang (CKJ-RG), Angelica gigas and Rehmanniae radix Cheonggukjang (CKJ-DD+RG) and Red ginseng Cheonggukjang (CKJ-RED) were evaluated. The mobilized phenolic profile was evaluated for antioxidant activity and the potential to inhibit ${\alpha}$-amylase linked to hyperglycaemia. This research has important implications for the development of functional soy-based-fermented foods enriched with Angelica gigas, Rehmanniae radix and Red ginseng phenolics for oxidative stress - induced diabetic complications. Furthermore, Hunter's color values of 5 types cheonggukjang, lightness (L-values), redness (a-values) and yellowness (b-values) were evaluated. Free amino acid content of CKJ-RED (0.993 mg/gd. w.) showed higher than that of CKJ (0.205 mg/g-d.w.).
This Paper presents a novel approach to single channel microphone speech enhancement in noisy environments. Widely used noise reduction techniques based on the spectral subtraction are generally expressed as a spectral gam depending on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The well-known decision-directed(DD) estimator of Ephraim and Malah efficiently reduces musical noise under the background noise conditions, but generates the delay of the a prioiri SNR because the DD weights the speech spectrum component of the Previous frame in the speech signal. Therefore, the noise suppression gain which is affected by the delay of the a priori SNR, which is estimated by the DD matches the previous frame rather than the current one, so after noise suppression. this degrades the noise reduction performance during speech transient periods. We propose a computationally simple but effective speech enhancement technique based on the sigmoid type function for the weight Parameter of the DD. The proposed approach solves the delay problem about the main parameter, the a priori SNR of the DD while maintaining the benefits of the DD. Performances of the proposed enhancement algorithm are evaluated by ITU-T p.862 Perceptual Evaluation of Speech duality (PESQ). the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) and the speech spectrogram under various noise environments and yields better results compared with the fixed weight parameter of the DD.
