Oxidative stress has been implicated in cutaneous damage in various inflammatory skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis. The present study was undertaken to investigate the antioxidative and anti-inflammatory activities of the extract of Duchesnea chrysantha (DCE). DEC was prepared by extracting with 80% ethanol. Total flavonoids and polyphenols were measured by a colorimetric assay. The free radical scavenging activity of the extract was analyzed by the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl), ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and Griess reagent assay. An oxidative product of nitric oxide (NO), was measured in the culture medium by the Griess reaction. The level of prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were measured by Western blot analysis. Total flavonoid and polyphenol contents of DCE were included $24.73{\pm}0.45$ and $178.77{\pm}2.65$, respectively. DCE significantly increased electron donating ability (DPPH), nitrite scavenging (NO) and ABTS reducing activity in dose dependant. We investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of DCE on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. DCE significantly suppressed NO and prdstaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) in dose dependant. Furthermore, the levels of iNOS and COX-2 protein expressions were markedly suppressed by the treatment with DCE in a dose dependent manner. These results suggest that DEC may has value as natural product with its high quality functional components, antioxidative and anti-inflammatory activities.

This study investigated characteristics of decomposition of tetrabutoxysilane (TBOS) as a slow release substrate (SRS) and on effect of TBOS decompostion compounds (acetate and butylate) for anaerobic dechlorination of trichloroethylene (TCE). In the batch experiment, TCE, cis-dichloroethene (cis-DCE), 1-butanol and TBOS were analysed by GC/FID and acetate and butylate were measured by HPLC. 1M of TBOS transferred and accumulated 4M of 1-butanol by abiotically hydrolysis reaction. The hydrolysis rate was in a range of 0.186 ${\mu}M/day$. On other hand, 1-butanol fermented to butyrate and acetate with indigenous culture from natural sediments. This results showed that TBOS could be used a slow release substrate in the natural sites. The dechlorinated potential of TCE with acetate and butyrate was increased with a decreasing initial TCE concentrations. In addition, first order coefficients of dechlorination with acetate as electron donor was higher then that with butyrate. It is because that dechlorination of Geobacter lovleyi was affected by substrate affinity, biodegradability and microbial acclimation on various substrates. However, dechlorinated potential of Geobacter lovleyi was decreased with accumulation cis-DCE in the anaerobic decholoronation process. The overall results indicated that SRS with Geobacter lovleyi might be a promising material for enhancing dechlorination of TCE on natural site and cis-DCE should be treated by ZVI as reductive material or by coexisting other dechlorinated bacteria.

The transfer reaction characteristics of tetracycline (TC) across a polarized water/1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE) interface was studied via controlling both pH and ionic strength of the aqueous phase in conjunction with cyclic and differential pulse voltammetries. Formal transfer potential values of differently charged TC ionic species at the water/1,2-DCE interface were measured as a function of pH values of the aqueous solution, which led to establishing an ionic partition diagram for TC. As a result, we could identify which TC ionic species are more dominant in the aqueous or organic phase. Thermodynamic properties including the formal transfer potential, partition coefficient and Gibbs transfer energy of TC ionic species at the water/1,2-DCE interface were also estimated. In order to construct an electrochemical sensor for TC, a single microhole supported water/polyvinylchloride-2-nitrophenyloctylether (PVC-NPOE) gel interface was fabricated. A well-defined voltammetric response associated with the TC ion transfer process was achieved at pH 4.0 similar to that of using the water/1,2-DCE interface. Also the measured current increased proportionally with respect to the TC concentration. A $5{\mu}M$ of TC in pH 4.0 buffer solution with a dynamic range from $5{\mu}M$ to $30{\mu}M$ TC concentration could be analyzed when using differential pulse stripping voltammetry.

Objectives : Daucus carota sativa has been frequently used as food supplements in many of the Asian countries, and a nutritional medical drug in traditional medicine. This research investigated the effects of Daucus carota sativa extract (DCE) on acute phases of inflammation in Raw 264.7 cells treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in terms of the inhibition of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) and pro-inflammatory cytokines production. Methods : NO, $PGE_2$, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$, interleukin-$1{\beta}$ and interleukin-6 contents were assayed by ELISA, and expressions of inflammation-related proteins such as inducible NO synthase (iNOS) were determined by immunoblot analyses. Results : DCE treatment attenuated the LPS ability to increase the productions of NO and $PGE_2$ as well as the protein level of iNOS in a concentration-dependent manner. Consistently, treatment of the cells with DCE suppressed the production of TNF-${\alpha}$, interleukin-$1{\beta}$ and interleukin-6. DCE also caused decreases of inhibitor of ${\kappa}B{\alpha}$ phosphorylation induced by LPS in the cells, which means DCE inhibition of NF-${\kappa}B$ activity. Furthermore, DCE blocked LPS-induced phosphorylation of p38 and SAPK/JNK. Conclusion : This study showing here may be of help to understand the action mechanism of DCE, and provide the information for the medical use of Daucus carota sativa for the inflammatory disease.
After aconitine-type alkaloids have been isolated from the crude drug "Buza" as the precipitate, they could be identified with colour test, UV/Vis. absorption wavelength, TLC. The presence of aconitine-type alkaloids are confirmed by the reaction with the Reineke ion, $[Cr(NH_3)_2(SCN)_4]^{1+}$, and TCR ion, $[Co(SCN)4]^{2-}$, to produce the white precipitate or one of the containing from blue to yellowish blue. It is based on the formation of complex compounds by aconitine-type alkaloids with Reineke and TCR reagent. The method has been found to be simple, convenient and suitable for routine identification of aconitine-type alkaloids, related basic compounds, the crude drug "Buza" processed from the roots of certain Aconitum spp. plants(Ranunculaceae).
To improve the dyeability of polyurethane (PU) resin, low molecular weight diols containing dye site in the molecular structure was added as a chain-extender. PU resin were synthesized with the variations in the chain extender, polyol type, and hard segment/soft segment (HS/SS) ratio. When HS/SS ratio is 1.4 and dimethylolpropionic acid(DMPA) or N-butyldiethanolamine (BDEA) was used as a chain extender, because of heterogeneity of reaction mechanical properties were diminished. But when N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) was used as a DCE, and HS/SS ratio lowed to 1.3, mechanical properties and dyeability improved. In particular, when linear type 1,4-BD was formulated with MDEA, hydrolysis resistance and mechanical properties of PTMG type PU was improved. And initial elasticity, tensile strength and elongation could be controlled by the variation of HS/SS ratio, DCE mixing ratio of 1,6-HD or NPG.
Perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (pMRI) is a special technique for evaluation of blood flow. Exogenous pMRI methods which are dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) use an intravenous bolus injection of paramagnetic contrast agent. In contrast, an endogenous pMRM method which is arterial spin labeling (ASL) use diffusible blood in body. In order to scan pMRI in human, technical optimizations are very important according to disease conditions. For examples, DSC is popularly used in patients with acute stroke due to its short scan time, while DSC or DCE provides the various perfusion indices for patients with tumor. ASL is useful for children, women who are expected to be pregnant, and in patients with kidney diseases which are problematic in nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF). Perfusion MRI does not require any injection of radioisotopes. We expect that demand for perfusion MRI will be higher in evaluating drug efficacy and other treatment effects.

Batch experiments were performed to evaluate the effect of sulfate reduction on methane production and reductive dechlorination, both compete for hydrogen with sulfate reduction. Dechlorination was inhibited by sulfate reduction at lower hydrogen concentration because their threshold values for hydrogen are similar (2 nM). Unlike methane production mainly inhibited transformation of cDCE to ethene, sulfate reduction inhibited the initial dechlorination step, PCE reduction into cDCE as well as cDCE dechlorination. The presence of sulfate eliminated methanogens as hydrogen competitor because of its high threshold value of 10 nM. When sulfate coexisted with PCE, dechlorination efficiency was not affected by the increase of seed concentration as both dechlorination and sulfate reduction were stimulated simultaneously by the increased seeding culture.
Tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE), critical pollutants to human health and groundwater ecosystems, are managed by groundwater quality standards (GQS) in South Korea. However, there are no GQSs for their by-products, such as cis-dichloroethylene (DCE) and vinyl chloride (VC) produced through the dechlorination process of PCE and TCE. Therefore, in this study, we monitored PCE, TCE, cis-DCE, and VC in 111 national groundwater wells for three years (2016 to 2018) to evaluate their distributions, a biological dechlorination possibility, and human risk assessment. The detection frequency of them was 30.2% for PCE, 45.1% for TCE, 43.9% for cis-DCE and 13.4% for VC. The four chlorinated compounds were commonly detected in 21 out of 111 wells. In the results of statistical analysis with 21 wells data, DO and ORP also had a negative correlation with four organic chlorinated compounds, while EC and sulfate has a positive correlation with the compounds. This indicates that the 21 wells were relatively met with suitable environments for a biological dechlorination reaction compared to the other wells. Finally, cis-DCE had a non-carcinogenic risk of 10-1 and the carcinogenic risk of VC was 10-6 or higher. Through this study, the distribution status of the four chlorinated compounds in groundwater in South Korea and the necessity of preparing plans to manage cis-DCE and VC were confirmed.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical utility of ultrafast dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI compared to conventional DCE-MRI by studying lesion conspicuity and size according to the level of background parenchymal enhancement (BPE). Materials and Methods: This study included 360 women (median age, 54 years; range, 26-82 years) with 361 who had undergone breast MRI, including both ultrafast and conventional DCE-MRI before surgery, between January and December 2017. Conspicuity was evaluated using a five-point score. Size was measured as the single maximal diameter. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare median conspicuity score. To identify factors associated with conspicuity, multivariable logistic regression was performed. Absolute agreement between size at MRI and histopathologic examination was assessed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: The median conspicuity scores were 5 at both scans, but the interquartile ranges were significantly different (5-5 at ultrafast vs. 4-5 at conventional, p < 0.001). Premenopausal status (odds ratio [OR] = 2.2, p = 0.048), non-mass enhancement (OR = 4.1, p = 0.001), moderate to marked BPE (OR = 7.5, p < 0.001), and shorter time to enhancement (OR = 0.9, p = 0.043) were independently associated with better conspicuity at ultrafast scans. Tumor size agreement between MRI and histopathologic examination was similar for both scans (ICC = 0.66 for ultrafast vs. 0.63 for conventional). Conclusion: Ultrafast DCE-MRI could improve lesion conspicuity compared to conventional DCE-MRI, especially in women with premenopausal status, non-mass enhancement, moderate to marked BPE or short time to enhancement.
