  • This paper presents a hetero-integration of electrostatically actuated RF MEMS Switch and step up DC-DC converter on a redistribution layer using commercial PCB process. RF characteristics of Duroid with $56{\Omega}$ impedance GCPW transmission line and that of FR4 with $59{\Omega}$ impedance CPW transmission line were analyzed. From DC to 6GHz, RF characteristics of Duroid were better than that of FR4, insertion loss was 2.08dB lower, return loss was 3.91dB higher, and isolation was 3.33dB higher.

  • A novel integrated optimization method based on the Generalized Bender’s Decomposition (GBD) is proposed to combine both generation and transmission expansion problems. Most of existing researches on the integrated expansion planning based on the GBD theory incorporate DC power flow model to guarantee the convergence and improve the computation time. Inherently the GBD algorithm based on DC power flow model cannot consider variables and constraints related bus voltages and reactive power. In this paper, an integrated optimization method using the GBD algorithm based on a linearized AC power flow model is proposed to resolve aforementioned drawback. The proposed method has been successfully applied to Garver’s six-bus system and the IEEE 30-bus system which are frequently used power systems for transmission expansion planning studies.

  • This paper presents a Daubechies wavelet-based fault detection method for fault identification in transmission lines. After the Daubechies wavelet coefficients are calculated, the proposed algorithm has been implemented difference equation using C language. We have modeled a 154kV transmission line using the ATPDraw software and have acquired test data. In order to evaluate effects of DC offset, simulations carried out while varying an inception angle of the voltage $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$. For performance evaluation, fault distance was varied. As we can see from the off-line simulation, the proposed algorithm shows rapid and accurate fault detection. Also we can see the proposed algorithm is not affected by the fault inception angle change.

  • If DC voltage adjustment can be controlled very easily, it is much more effective rather than AC in transmission efficiency. The main reason why DC is more effective than AC, DC has the same role as the 70[%] of AC whenever the same power send. In addition, AC streams the surface of electrical wire, but DC streams overall of electrical wire. Digital load, which is operated by DC, has increased in modern times. The step of convert of AC-DC has to be reduced. When we turn the dispersed AC-DC converters into the concentrated AC-DC converter, it can improve the effective of the whole system. Further more, if digital society develops more than now and the time of electric vehicle comes, the need of DC will increase much more than these days. This paper suggests that DC output of distributed power source and high efficient 3 phase PWM converter can control the adjustment of output voltage, harmonic restraint, power factor improvement and dump power.

  • This paper presents a graphical windows-based software for the education and training of transmission network charge. The motivation for the development of the simulator is to provide students with a simple and useable tool for gaining an intuitive feel for transmission network charge. The developed simulator consists of the main module (MMI, GUI), the power flow module (PF), the power flow tracing module (PFT), and usage cost DB module (UCD). Each module has a separate graphical and interactive interfacing window. The developed simulator provides with two power system analysis methods (i.e., DC-PF and Modified DC-PF) and supports the PSS/E input data format to load input data of power system. Also, power flow tracing can be calculate using four methods such as "Felix Wu", "Modified Felix Wu", "DCLF ICRP", and "Reverse MW mile". Results of calculation for transmission usage cost are displayed and compared on the window through the table and/or chart. Therefore, the developed simulator can be utilize as a useful tool for effective education and training of transmission network charge.

  • A hybrid HVDC system that is composed of line commutated converter (LCC) at the rectifier side and voltage source converter (VSC) in series with LCC at the inverter side is studied in this paper. The start-up strategy, DC fault ride-through capability, and fault recovery strategy for the hybrid HVDC system are proposed. The steady state and dynamic performances under start-up, AC fault, and DC fault scenarios are analyzed based on a bipolar hybrid HVDC system. Furthermore, the immunity of the LCC inverter in hybrid HVDC to commutation failure is investigated. The simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC show that the hybrid HVDC system exhibits favorable steady state and dynamic performances, in particular, low susceptibility to commutation failure, excellent DC fault ride-through, and fast fault recovery capability. Results also indicate that the hybrid HVDC system can be a good alternative for large-capacity power transmission over a long distance byoverhead line.

  • High quality indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films have been prepared by DC magnetron sputtering technique. By controlling the deposition parameters such as substrate temperature and oxygen flow rate, we were able to minimize the negative ion damage during the deposition. Films pr데ared under such conditions were found to posses an excel]ent electrical resistivity of $1.6\times10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ and also found to have a optical transmission above 90%. We also observe that, increasing the oxygen now rate above 4 sccm leads to an increase in electrical resistivity of the films while the transmission was found to saturate with the increase in the oxygen gas flow.

  • This paper proposes a new approach utilizing empirical mode decomposition (EMD) reconstruction to process vibration signals of a transformer under DC bias caused by high voltage direction transmission (HVDC), which is the potential cause of additional vibration and noise from transformer. Firstly, the Calculation Method is presented and a 3D model of transformer is simulated to analyze transformer deformation characteristic and the result indicate the main vibration is produced along axial direction of three core limbs. Vibration test system has been built and test points on the core and shell of transformer have been measured. Then, the signal reconstruction method for transformer vibration based on EMD is proposed. Through the EMD decomposition, the corrupted noise can be selectively reconstructed by the certain frequency IMFs and better vibration signals of transformer have been obtained. After EMD reconstruction, the vibrations are compared between transformer in normal work and with DC bias. When DC bias occurs, odd harmonics, vibration of core and shell, behave as a nonlinear increase and the even harmonics keep unchanged with DC current. Experiment results are provided to collaborate our theoretical analysis and to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed EMD method.
