  • Recently, much power demand from domestic power consumer is weakening the allowable power reserve margin in summer, especially at midday for one day due to a steep increase of air cooling loads such as air conditioner. Therefore solar airconditioning system can'be considered as one of the best remedies to meet the increase of peak power. Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can derate the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problem in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. As results, obtained are the characteristics of the PWM converter such as low distorted current waveform, high power factor and bidirectional power control. And also the stability of proposed system is verified by examining the dynamics of step load change and power reversal testing. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

  • In this paper, the gearless traction machine drive system using a permanent-maget motor for high-speed elevators is addressed. This application of permanent-magnet motor to the elevator traction machine enables several improvements including higher efficiency, better ride comfort, smaller size and weight, and so on. PWM boost converter is also adopted so that DC-link voltage regulation, hi-directional power flow, and controllable power factor with reduced input current harmonics are possible. To increase reliability and performance, the control board, which can include the car and group controller as well as PWM converter and inverter controller, is designed based on TMS320VC33 DSP The simulator system for high-speed elevators has been developed so that the drive system of high-speed elevator can be tested without my limitation on ride distance and the load condition. Some experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the developed system.

Leakage Current Energy Harvesting Application in a Photovoltaic (PV) Panel Transformerless Inverter System

  • Present-day solar panels incorporate inverters as their core components. Switching devices driven by specialized power controllers are operated in a transformerless inverter topology. However, some challenges associated with this configuration include the absence of isolation, causing leakage currents to flow through various components toward ground. This inevitably causes power losses, often being also the primary reason for the power inverters' analog equipment failure. In this paper, various aspects of the leakage currents are studied using different circuit analysis methods. The primary objective is to convert the leakage current energy into a usable DC voltage source. The research is focused on harvesting the leakage currents for producing circa 1.1 V, derived from recently developed rectifier circuits, and driving a $200{\Omega}$ load with a power in the milliwatt range. Even though the output voltage level is low, the harvested power could be used for charging small batteries or capacitors, even driving light loads.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of Ta-N thin film strain gauges that are suitable for harsh environemts, which were deposited on thermally oxidized Si substrates by DC reactive magnetronsputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere (Ar-$N_2$ (4 ~ 16 %)). These films were annealed for 1 hr in $2{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr in a vacuum furnace with temperatures that ranged from 500 - $1000^{\circ}C$. The optimized deposition and annealing conditions of the Ta-N thin film strain gauges were determined using 8 % $N_2$ gas flow ratio and annealing at $900^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. Under optimum formation conditions, the Ta-N thin film strain gauges obtained a high electrical resistivity, ${\rho}\;=\;768.93\;{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, $TCR\;=\;-84\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal gauge factor, GF=4.12. The fabricated Ta-N thin film strain gauges are expected to be used inmicromachined pressure sensors and load cells that are operable under harsh environments.

  • Developed controller is the part of deflection yoke winding machine which controls the power to form the deflection yoke coil into desired shape after winding. So as to form the deflection yoke coil, it is needed to melt the bonding material which is spreaded on the coil. The heat melt the bonding material which is produced by flowing the current through the winded coil. Therefore, at first it is needed to peel off the enamel from the winded coil so as to flow the current, and then supply the power to produce the heat which form the winded coil into desired shape. Naturally developed controller is composed of the peeling part and the conduction and forming part. All of them consist of the inverter structure and control the output current. The peeling is achieved by low voltage and high AC current, the conduction and forming is by DC current. Developed controller also has a function that detect the resistance of the deflection yoke coil to prevent the damage of the load which is produced by poor peeling.

  • 본 논문에서는 영구 자석형 동기 전동기를 이용한 고속 엘리베이터 시스템 용 무기어식 구동 시스템의 개발 사례를 소개한다. 엘리베이터 구동원으로서 영구 자석형 동기 전동기의 채택은 에너지 절약, 승차감 향상, 기계실의 하중 부담 감소 및 효율적인 공간 활용 등의여러 장점을 지닌다. 전력 변환 장치로는 기존의 다이오드 정류기와 제동 저항 대신 직류단 전압 제어 회생 운전 그리고 낮은 고조파 함유율이 역률 1 제어가 가능한 승압형 PWM 컴버터를 채택하였다. 제어 시스템은 고속 대용량의 단일 DSP를 사용하여 통합형 제어 시스템을 구축함으로써 전체 제어 시스템의 신뢰성 및 성능을 크게 향상시켰다. 시험 장치로는 고속 엘리베이터용 부사 시뮬레이터 시스템을 개발하여 운전 거리에 대한 제약 없이 구동 시스템의 다양한 시험이 가능해졌다.

The Development of the ±80kV 60MW HVDC System in Korea

  • HVDC transmission systems can be configured in many ways to take into account cost, flexibility and operational requirements. [1] For long-distance transmission, HVDC systems may be less expensive and suffer lower electrical losses. For underwater power cables, HVDC avoids the heavy currents required to charge and discharge the cable capacitance of each cycle. For shorter distances, the higher cost of DC conversion equipment compared to an AC system may still be warranted, due to other benefits of direct current links. HVDC allows power transmission between unsynchronized AC transmission systems. Since the power flow through an HVDC link can be controlled independently of the phase angle between the source and the load, it can stabilize a network against disturbances due to rapid changes in power. HVDC also allows the transfer of power between grid systems running at different frequencies, such as 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This improves the stability and economy of each grid, by allowing the exchange of power between incompatible networks. This paper proposed to establish Korean HVDC technology through a cooperative agreement between KEPCO and LSIS in 2010. During the first stage (2012), a design of the ${\pm}80kV$ 60MW HVDC bipole system was created by both KEPCO and LSIS. The HVDC system was constructed and an operation test was completed in December 2012. During the second stage, the pole#2 system was fully replaced with components that LSIS had recently developed. LSIS also successfully completed the operation test. (2014.3)

A Mathematical Approach to Allocate the Contributions by Applying UPFCs to Transmission System Usage

  • Competitive electricity markets necessitate equitable methods for allocating transmission usage in order to set transmission usage charges and congestion charges in an unbiased and an open-accessed basis. So in competitive markets it is usually necessary to trace the contribution of each participant to line usage, congestion charges and transmission losses, and then to calculate charges based on these contributions. A UPFC offers flexible power system control, and has the powerful advantage of providing, simultaneously and independently, real-time control of voltage, impedance and phase angle, which are the basic power system parameters on which sys-tem performance depends. Therefore, UPFC can be used efficiently and flexibly to optimize line utilization and increase system capability and to enhance transmission stability and dampen system oscillations. In this paper, a mathematical approach to allocate the contributions of system users and UPFCs to transmission system usage is presented. The paper uses a dc-based load flow modeling of UPFC-inserted transmission lines in which the injection model of the UPFC is used. The relationships presented in the paper showed modified distribution factors that modeled impact of utilizing UPFCs on line flows and system usage. The derived relationships show how bus voltage angles are attributed to each of changes in generation, injections of UPFC, and changes in admittance matrix caused by inserting UPFCs in lines. The relationships derived are applied to two test systems. The results illustrate how transmission usage would be affected when UPFC is utilized. The relationships derived can be adopted for the purpose of allocating usage and payments to users of transmission network and owners of UPFCs used in the network. The relationships can be modified or extended for other control devices.

SWAT을 이용한 극한 기후변화 시나리오와 유역간 물이동 변화를 고려한 만경강 유역의 미래 수문 및 수질 평가 (Assessment of future stream flow and water quality of Man-gyeong river watershed based on extreme climate change scenarios and inter-basin water transfer change using SWAT)

  • 본 연구에서는 만경강유역(1,602 ㎢)을 대상으로 SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool)을 이용하여 미래 극한 기후변화 시나리오와 유역간 물이동 감소에 따른 유역의 수문 수질 변화를 미래기간(S1: 2010~2039, S2: 2040~2069, S3: 2070~2099)로 구분하여 평가하였다. 이를 위해 유역간 물이동량, 유역내 취수량, 점 오염원 등을 고려하여 SWAT 모형을 구축 후 수위 관측소 2지점(대천, 전주), 수질 관측소 2지점(삼례, 김제)에 대하여 유출량과 부하량을 보정(2012~2014년) 및 검증(2016~2018년)하였다. 검보정 결과 유출량의 평균 R2는 0.7, NSE는 0.51이었으며, SS, T-N, T-P의 평균 R2는 0.72, 0.80, 0.72로 분석되었다. 미래 기후변화에 따른 연평균 유출량은 최대 459 mm/yr 증가하였으며, 연평균 SS, T-N, T-P 부하량은 각각 최대 19,548 ton/yr, 68,748 kg/yr, 13,728 kg/yr 증가하였다. 미래 유역간 물 이동량이 감소하였을 때, 봄과 겨울에 유출량이 감소하였으며, 미래 수질 부하량은 강수량의 영향으로 과거 관측 기간보다 증가하였다. 유출량 감소와 부하량 증가로 인한 수질 악화를 개선하기 위해서는 유역간 물이동이 일정 수준으로 지속되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

핵융합로부품 시험을 위한 고열부하 시험시설 KoHLT-1 구축 (Development of a High Heat Load Test Facility KoHLT-1 for a Testing of Nuclear Fusion Reactor Components)

  • 본 한국원자력연구원에서는 국제열핵융합실험로(ITER)의 일차벽을 개발하기 위해 그라파이트 히터를 이용한 고열부하 시험시설 KoHLT-1(Korea Heat Load Test facility-1)을 구축하였으며, 현재 정상적으로 가동되고 있다. KoHLT-1의 주목적은 Be-CuCrZr-SS의 이종 금속이 HIP 방법에 의해 접합된 ITER 일차벽 mockup의 접합 건전성을 확인하는데 있다. KoHLT-1은 판형 그라파이트 히터, 냉각 jacket이 부착된 상자형 시험용기, 직류 전원, 냉각계통, He 기체 공급계통과 각종 진단계통으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 모든 시설은 Be 처리가 가능한 특수 정화계통이 설치된 실험실에 설치되었다. 그라파이트 히터는 두개의 시험 대상물 사이에 설치되며, 시험대상물과의 거리는 $2{\sim}3\;mm$이다. 시험 대상물의 크기와 요구되는 열유속에 따라 여러 가지의 그라파이트 히터를 설계, 제작하였으며, 전기 저항은 고온 운전 중에 $0.2{\sim}0.5{\Omega}$이 되도록 하였다. 히터는 100V/400 A의 직류전원에 연결되어 있으며, PC와 multi function module로 구성된 전류 조정계통에 의해 미리 프로그램되어 있는 패턴으로 전류를 자동 조절하게 된다. 두 시험대상물에 인가되는 열유속은 calorimetry법에 의해 냉각수의 입, 출구 온도와 유량을 측정하여 얻게 된다. 여러 가지 형태의 ITER 일차벽 Be mockups에 대해 고열부하 시험을 수행하였으며, 시험을 통하여 KoHLT-1 고열부하 시험 시설의 성능이 확인되었고, 24시간 이상의 연속 운전에 있어서도 그 신뢰성이 입증되었다.
