  • In this paper approves (AC and DC) high voltage by experimental GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) chamber and (AC and DC) power source to study breakdown characteristics by pressure(P) change and change of electrode distance(d) at (AC and DC) high voltage of Imitation I-Air, $N_2$ : $O_2$ = 79(%) : 21[%]) to alternate $SF_6$ and achieved research. 대용량 변압기유의 전기적특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Properties of Transformer Oils for Large Power)

  • In order to investigate the electrical properties of transformer oils for large power, the characteristics of AC and Impulse breakdown in gap length of 1.0~2.5mm and that of volume resistivity were researched in temperature range of 20~$100^{\circ}C$. An geometrical capacitance of electrode with coaxial cylindrical shape for measuring the volume resistivity was 16pF, and highmegohm meter with model no. VMG-1000 was used, and also the applied voltage were DC 100, 250 and 500V. In the dependance of breakdown characteristics due to electrode gap length, it was confirmed that breakdown voltage was nearly uniform by volume effect according to the increase of gap. In the characteristics for AC breakdown, the dielectric strength was increased to $90^{\circ}C$ but decreased over $90^{\circ}C$, and also in case of impulse breakdown, it was increased to 7$0^{\circ}C$ and at dated $70^{\circ}C$ over in temperature range. The calculated mobility of oils in the characteristics for impulse breakdown were about $10^{-5}$~$10^{-4}cm^2/V{\cdot}S$, and the value of volume resistivity was almost invariable in low temperature range, regardless of voltage by the stable thermal properties, and it indicated a peak at $50^{\circ}C$ and had a sudden change to decrease over that temperature, and also the value of volume resistivity in 250V/mm at $80^{\circ}C$ is suitable for the International electrical standards, it was confirmed.

  • In order to investigate the influence of manufacturing process on the electrical properties, we used two kinds of low density polyethylene prepared using metallocene catalyst (mL), linear low density polyethylene prepared using Ziegler catalyst (LL) and low density polyethylene by high pressure process (LD). mL has the narrowest composition and molecular weight distributions. We measured the dc and impulse breakdown strengths and current densities at 3$0^{\circ}C$, 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 9$0^{\circ}C$. mL had a higher breakdown strength and a lower high-field current than LD and LL. These results were discussed from the point of manufacturing processes.

해수범람 전·후의 CSPE 특성변화 (Variation in Properties of Seawater Flooded and Non-Flooded CSPE)

  • Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) was not flooded seawater and flooded seawater & freshwater for 5 days, respectively, and these samples are referred to as BSF(before seawater flooding) and ASFF(after seawater & freshwater flooding), respectively. The apparent density, dissipation factor, relative permittivity, melting temperature, dielectric breakdown time and increased time of applied voltage are higher than those of BSF, but the insulating resistance, dielectric strength, percent elongation and glass transition temperature of ASFF are lower than those of BSF. The differential temperature of those is $0.026{\sim}0.028(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF, respectively, and the differential temperature of those is $0.013{\sim}0.037(^{\circ}C)$ after AC and DC voltage is applied to BSF, respectively. In the case AC and DC voltage is applied to ASFF as well as BSF, the variations in temperature of AC voltage are higher than those of DC voltage. It is investigated that dielectric loss due to dissipation factor ($tan{\delta}$) is related to electric dipole conduction current. It is certain that the ionic (electron or hole) leakage current was increased by conducting ions such as $Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $Mg^{2+}$, $SO_4^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$ and $K^+$, those are related to cured atoms of O and S that relatively increased after seawater flooding.

  • In this work, the effect of blend on physical and electrical properties investigated. The two kinds of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) whose densities are evaluated at $0.9179[g/cm^3]$ and $0.9192[g/cm^3]$, respectively, were used and blended according to the different blend ratio. The LDPE with the blend ratio of 50[wt%] represented the lowest impulse breakdown strength, $F_{BImp}$ at $30[^{\circ}C]$, but the highest $F_{BImp}$ at $90[^{\circ}C]$. DC breakdown strength, $F_{BDC}$. decreased with the increase of blend ratio at $30[^{\circ}C$, but increased at $60[^{\circ}C]$. The current density decreased with a blend ratio up to 75 [wt%] at $90[^{\circ}C]$. By analyzing the diffraction patterns of XRD, we found that the LDPE with the blend ratio of 50 [wt%] represented the largest crystal size of (020) plane. We investigated the relationship between the effect of blend and electrical properties and these results are discussed.

UV 센서를 이용한 절연애자의 코로나 방전 측정 및 자외선 이미지의 비교 (Comparison of UV images and Measurement of the Corona Discharge from Insulators using the UV Sensor)

  • Inspections and diagnoses of corona discharge are important in order to prevent electrical faults of external insulation in power systems. This paper studies a measurement of ultra-violet rays(UV) strength of corona discharges on insulators using a UV sensor with an optic lens. The data has been compared with the images of a UV camera. The UV sensor estimated that DC voltage needed to be set at 700V for accurate data analysis of the properties of UV detected during corona discharge. UV was generated at 60kV when the corona discharge occurred. UV strength and images of UV increased at a high voltage. The image area of the UV using a UV camera and the detection of UV using a UV sensor have shown, that the polymer insulator mounted on a live part must be checked when the applied voltage on the good polymer insulator is greater than 37.5% of its breakdown voltage.

  • Dielectric strength of insulators made of epoxy composites rapidly decreases due to ageing to interfaces between the matric resin and filler particles. The adhesion variation of interfaces caused by moisture absorption also alters electrical properties that are the basic characteristics of insulators, particularly, in outdoor use. In this paper, electrical properties of epox/SiO$_2$composites were investigated at boiling absorption condition to observe the influences of moisture. In order to analyze the basic physical properties of samples, scanning electron microscopy and DC, AC and impulse voltage dielectric strength were measured. Also, the breakdown time of samples was measured under AC 6[kV] applied voltage, and the variation of lifetime was verified by using Weibull distribution function.

A Study on the Insulation Characteristics of Epoxy Composites Using Electric Field Simulation

  • 본 논문에서는 전기 전자부품 및 기구의 절연재료로 널리 적용되고 있는 에폭시 복합재료의 절연 특성 및 신뢰도를 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위해 경제적, 기계적 요인에 의해 필수적으로 첨가되어야 하는 충진재의 분포에 따른 전계 변화를 예측하기 위하여 전계해석 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 그 결과를 확인하였다. 또한 직류 전압 인가 조건하에서 주변 온도 변화 및 충진재 분포에 따른 절연파괴시험을 수행하였고 그 변화를 관찰하였다. 시편은 에폭시 수지에 충진재를 0, 50, 100[phr] 첨가하여 3종류가 제작되었으며 모든 시편의 경우에서 온도가 증가함에 따라 절연파괴강도가 저하됨을 확인하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 및 실제 절연강도시험 결과를 비교 고찰하여 전기 기구의 절연설계에 필요한 기술적 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • Following the successful development of practical high temperature superconducting (HTS) wires, there has been renewed activity in the development of superconducting power equipments. HTS equipments must be operated in the coolant, such as liquid nitrogen (L$N_2$) or cooled by cooler, such as GM-cryocooler to maintain the temperature below critical temperature. In this paper, dielectric strength of some insulating materials, such as epoxy, teflon, and glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) in L$N_2$was measured. Surface breakdown voltage of GFRP which is basic property in design of HTS solenoid coil was measured. Epoxy is a goof insulating material but it is fragile at cryogenic temperature. The multi-layer insulating method of current lead is suggested to compensate this fragile property. It consists of teflon tape layer and epoxy layer fixed with texture. Based on these measurements, the 6.6㎸ class HTS magnet for DC reactor type high-T$_{c}$ superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) was successfully fabricated and tested.d.
