Estimating factor for Improving Arc Extinction Capability of DC Magnetic Switch (직류전자 접촉기의 아크 소호력 향상 요인 추정)

  • This paper describes are quenching chambers of three type for Magnetic Switch and analyzes electromagnetic blowout force acting on the arc using 3D finite element method we make prototype device of each model and establish characteristics of arc quenching by measuring arcing time. This paper compares electromagnetic blowout to inverse arcing time. As the result this proposes the improving method for arc quen performance in DC magnetic switch.

Modification of DC Flashover Voltage at High Altitude on the Basis of Molecular Gas Dynamics

  • The effect of altitude on thermal conduction, surface temperature, and thermal radiation of partial arc was investigated on the basis of molecular gas dynamics to facilitate a deep understanding of the pollution surface discharge mechanism. The DC flashover model was consequently modified at high altitude. The validity of the modified DC flashover model proposed in this paper was proven through a comparison with the results of high-altitude simulation experiments and earlier models. Moreover, the modified model was found to be better than the earlier modified models in terms of forecasting the flashover voltage. Findings indicated that both the thermal conduction coefficient and the surface thermodynamics temperature of partial arc had a linear decrease tendency with the altitude increasing from 0 m to 3000 m, both of which dropped by approximately 30% and 3.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, the heat conduction and the heat radiation of partial arc both had a similar linear decrease of approximately 15%. The maximum error of DC pollution flashover voltage between the calculation value according to the modified model and the experimental value was within 6.6%, and the pollution flashover voltage exhibited a parabola downtrend with increasing of pollution.

  • A new zero voltage and zero current switching(ZVZCS) full bridge DC-DC converter with transformer isolation is proposed for arc welding machines. The proposed DC-DC converter uses an auxiliary transformer to obtain ZCS for leading leg, which provides load current control capability even in short circuit condition. The auxiliary circuit also operates in ZVZCS mode. The power rating of the auxiliary transformer is about 10% of the main transformer. The operation is verified by experiments for 12[KW] prototype.

  • This paper presents a new full-bridge soft switching PWM DC-DC converter circuit topology that adding one switcher, one lossless snubber quasi-resonance capacity to power source for general welding machine This full-bridge soft switching DC-DC convoter· topology can applicable 600[V] switching device (IGBT)incase of AC 400[V] common power source because the voltage of active switcher is 1/2 of DC bus line voltage. And low voltage hight current out)ut that first coil current is smaller than second coil current in high frequency transformer can be obtained with decreasing path loss in conventional DC bus line switcher. As it operate ZCS/ZVS in full range, high frequency, high efficiency and high output are implemented at low voltage and high DC current switching power supplies. All of this items are got from simulation and the result of experiment. If make up for the weak points of this proposed circuit, it will be used more easily for next generation TIG, MIG and MAG type of arc-welding machine.

  • In this paper A switched mode AC/DC three phase boost converter with high power factor and sinusoidal input current waveform is analyzed and simulated. The proposed converter retain high power factor and sinusoidal input current waveform even under electric arc welder load. It is shown that experimental result and simulation waveform yield a sinusoidal input current waveform at high power factor.

  • The study about three-phase synthetic making test using DC power has been performed in order to increase the making test capacity on Vacuum Circuit Breaker. And, it made possible to solve the limitations that short-circuit testing facilities can not fulfill the testing requirements of VCB exceeding three-phase 36[kV] 31.5[kA]. By using DC power and high speed spark-gap switch, this method made the equivalence with the pre-arc that occurred during the making process under the fault condition of power system. As results, KERI(Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) could have capacity to carry out type test for VCB under three-phase 52[kV] 40[kV], which satisfies the IEC Standard.

  • 신재생에너지의 신뢰성 및 효율의 발전과 함께 컴퓨터 및 각종 디지털 부하의 증가로 인하여, 효과적인 DC 에너지 공급 시스템을 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그중 DC 전원의 경우, 아크 발생과 누설전류 검출이 중요한 문제가 된다. 본 연구에서는 반도체 소자를 사용하여 아크가 발생하지 않게 하는 콘센트에, 누설 감지 감도는 8mA, 감지 시간은 120ms 이내의 누설 전류 검출 기능을 보강한 DC 콘센트를 제안한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a new diagnosis method of DC/DC converter aging. The method is based on the variations of parasitic resistor for the aging process. We apply an on-line diagnosis of DC/DC converter because the observation is not a device, but a system. This study proposes a method of DC/DC converter diagnosis by analyzing the variations of model on the variations of parasitic resistor.

  • Recently, application of arc welding to galvanized carbon steel sheet is on the increasing Ould in the fields of automobile and construction industries. In arc welding process, zinc is evaporated in weld pool, even under the appropriate welding condition and produce blowhole and/or pit. Zinc gas cause instability of arc and increase spatter and fume. This research is purposed to minimize the heat-input and the formation of porosities in the welded joint of the galvanized carbon steel sheet using variable polarity AC wave pulse MIG welding system. An appropriate welding condition which showed low spatter and good bead appearance was acquired by applying the AC pulse MIG welding machine to DC duplicated MIG welding with the solid wire. When oxygen gas was added to shield gas of MIG welding for galvanized steel sheet, arc length was increased and arc stability was improved. In the AC duplicated welding, the loss of galvanized layer was decreased as the amount of heat-input was decreased when the EN ratio was increased under the condition that average welding current was evenly set.

  • This paper compare the Townsend theory with the Molten metal bridge theory of Holm for the arc discharge at opening contacts. And we measured the arc voltage at opening contacts of the 3 types arc extinction unit used in DC magnetic contactor. So, we sure that the molten metal bridge contributes to form the arc. By the experiment of the 3 types arc extinction unit, we know that the magnetic force acting on the arc doesn't effect forming arc but contribut the arc extinction.
