Suppression of side lobe and grating lobe in ultrasound medical imaging system (의료용 초음파 영상 시스템에서 부엽과 격자엽의 억제)

  • We propose an effective method for suppressing both side and grating lobes by applying 2-dimensional Fourier Transform to the received channel data during the receive focusing process of an ultrasound imaging system. When the signal from the image point is focused, the channel signals have the same DC value across the channels. However, even after echoes from outside an imaging point are focused, they are manifested as having different spatial frequencies depending on their incident angles. Therefore, after the receive focusing delay time is applied, 2-D Fourier Transform is performed on the time-channel data to separate the DC component and other frequency components in the spectral domain, and the weighting value is defined using the ratio of the two values. The side lobe and grating lobe were suppressed by multiplying the ultrasound image by a weighting value. Ultrasound images with a frequency of 5 MHz were simulated in a 64-channel linear array. The grating lobe appearing in the ultrasound image was completely removed by applying the proposed method. In addition, the side lobe was reduced and the lateral resolution was greatly increased. Results of computer simulation on a human organ mimicking image show that the proposed method can aid in better lesion diagnosis by increasing the image contrast.

자기공명영상에서 신호의 dynamic range와 quantization noise 분석

  • 목적: 고자장 자기공명영상 시스템 등으로 신호대잡음비가 향상됨에 따라 데이터 측정에서 analog-to-digital converter (ADC)의 quantization noise 가 중요한 시스템 사양으로 부각되고 있다. 특히 자기공명영상은 공간주파수 영역에서 데이터를 측정하기 때문에 dc와 ac간의 신호 차이가 매우 크며, 이러한 dynmic range는 3-D 영상에서 더욱 커진다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 자기총명 영상기법 및 실험 파라미터에 따른 신호의 dynamic range와 ADC의 bit 수에 따른 quantization noise를 살펴봄으로써, 주어진 시스템에 적합한 ADC의 bit 수를 분석하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 펄스 시퀀스의 종류, 파라미터, 2D/3D 등에 따른 각 신호의 크기를 수학적으로 모델링하여 신호의 크기를 예측하였다. 또한 whole body MRI 시스템에서 실험을 통하여 신호의 크기를 비교하였다. ADC의 quantization noise를 실험과 시뮬레이션을 통하여 살펴보았다. 시뮬레이션은 test 영상을 Inverse FFT 하여 spatial frequency domain data를 만든 후, 다양한 bit 수의 ADC로 quantization을 한 후 다시 영상을 재구성하였다. 재구성된 영상과 원영상 간의 error가 quantization noise가 된다. 또한 이러한 error가 주파수 영역에서의 error 값과 일치하는지를 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG 비트스트림 기반의 동영상 저작권 보호를 위한 간단하면서도 효율적인 실시간 워터마킹 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘에서는 MPEG 부호화된 동영상에 대해 DCT 계수 영역으로 부분 복호화한 후 양자화 기법을 사용하여 DC 계수에 비가시성을 가지도록 워터마크를 삽입한다. 실험결과 제안된 알고리즘은 기존의 비트스트림 기반 워터마킹 기법보다 계산 복잡도 및 강인성 면에서 향상된 성능을 보여주고 있다.

  • Recently, it is important to process multimedia data efficiently. Especially, in case of retrieval of multimedia information, technique of user interface and retrieval technique are necessary. This paper proposes a new technique which detects cuts effectively in compressed image information by MPEG. A cut is a turning point of scenes. The cut-detection is the basic work and the first-step for video indexing and retrieval. Existing methods have a weak point that they detect wrong cuts according to change of a screen such as fast motion of an object, movement of a camera and a flash. Because they compare between previous frame and present frame. The proposed technique detects shots at first using DC(Direct Current) coefficient of DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). The database is composed of these detected shots. Features are extracted by HMMD color model and edge histogram descriptor(EHD) among the MPEG-7 visual descriptors. And detections are performed in sequence by the proposed matching technique. Through this experiments, an improved video segmentation system is implemented that it performs more quickly and precisely than existing techniques have.

  • In this paper, we propose an advanced hardware architecture for the CAVLC entropy encoder engine for real time Full HD video compression. Since there are 384 data coefficients which are sum of 376 AC coefficient and 8 DC coefficient per one macroblock, 384 coefficient have to be processed per one macroblock in worst case for real time processing. We propose an novel architecture which includes parallel architecture and pipeline processing, and reduction "0" in AC/DC coefficient table. To verify the proposed architecture, we develop the reference C for CAVLC and verified the designed circuit with the test vector from reference C code.

  • A DCT-based energy-ratio measure for autofocus in digital camera is proposed in this paper. This measure, namely AC2DC1 and AC5DC1, determines the sharpness of an image using a ratio between AC and DC energy in the DCT domain. This method is derived from energy analysis of DCT coefficients. Autofocus score calculation method is used to assess the performance of the proposed measure and to compare it with other measures. Experimental results under various conditions verify the robustness of the proposed focus measure for the Gaussian as well as impulsive noises.

  • 본 논문에서는 DCT의 DC 성분에 워터마크를 삽입하여 강인성을 갖는 디지털 워터마킹 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법에서는 8$\times$8 블록 DCT를 수행하였으며, 사용한 워터마크 신호는 평균 0, 분산 1 및 길이가 1000인 정규분포 랜덤시퀀스이다. 작은 값을 갖는 워터마크 신호와 질감 영상영역에서 DC성분에 워터마크 신호들을 삽입하였다. 제안한 방법의 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과, 제안 방법의 강인성이 기존의 디지털 워터마킹 방법보다 우수한 방법임을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we proposed several scene analysis algorithms. These algorithms using image difference and histogram operate on the sequence of DC coefficient which is extracted from Motion JPEG or MPEG without full-frame decompression. Since DC sequence has the most information of full frame while it has reduced data. Experimental results show less than 1/64 of full frame analysing complexity and exactly analyze scene changes and extract key frames.

  • 본 시스템은 기존에 사람이 수행하던 경비업무를 영상 전송용 무선 이동기기가 대신 수행하도록 설계된 무인 경비시스템 이다. 본 시스템은 특정 지역 구간을 영상 전송용 무선이동기기가 수동 또는 자율 운행을 통하여 무인 순찰 업무를 수행한다. 영상 전송용 무선이동기기는 동영상을 실시간으로 수집하여 경비실에 설치된 서버로 무선 통신을 통하여 전달하고, 서버에서 전달된 동영상을 통하여 경비 업무를 수행하는 무인경비시스템이다. 세부 기능들로는 서버로부터 이동명령을 무선 통신으로 전달받아 DC 모터를 이용하여 무선이동기기를 이동하는 기능, 무선이동기기로부터 수집된 동영상을 서버에게 전송하여 서버가 영상을 분석하고 진행방향을 자율적으로 제공하는 기능, 무선이동기기의 배터리 잔량에 따라 실행중인 기능을 조절하여 배터리 지속 시간을 보장하는 기능 등이 있다.

Study on the Camera Image Frame's Comparison for Authenticating Smart Phone Users (스마트폰 사용자 인증을 위한 카메라 영상 프레임 비교에 관한 연구)

  • APP based on the smart phone is being utilized to various scopes such as medical services in hospitals, financing services at banks and credit card companies, and ubiquitous technologies in companies and homes etc. In this service environment, exposures of smart phones cause loss of assets including leaks of official/private information by outsiders. Though secret keys, pattern recognition technologies, and single image authentication techniques are being applied as protective methods, but they have problems in that accesses are possible by utilizing static key values or images like pictures. Therefore, this study proposes a face authentication technology for protecting smart phones from these dangerous factors and problems. The proposed technology authenticates users by extracting key frames of user's facial images by real time, and also controls accesses to the smart phone. Authentication information is composed of multiple key frames, and the user' access is controlled by distinction algorism of similarity utilizing DC values of image's pixel and luminance.
