  • Biped robot requires that an energy source and a control part should be installed on the body to realize active system. So, we choose the DC motor having high torque in compact size in this study. In the DC motor serve system, we choose power amplifier with analog configuration, developed the module combined the controller and the driver. We applied this module to robot actuator and studied the response characteristics in an action and a return. Main controller with serve system, loading PIC micro controller, can be load on the robot with light weight.

  • Recently, rapid process of network technology has an effect on the field of control engineering. And it gives effect to network control system(NCS) research that grafts existing control system and network has been studied. According to one-chip development of TCP/IP that is the most useful in LAN server for hardware, it can usefully and conveniently apply to network control system before. This paper construct network control system that can work close-loop control takes advantage of Ethernet that is the most for general data transmission network. Here, protocol uses for data transmission makes use for TCP/IP. This work the basic data transmitter-receive experiment to take advantage of network node was produced. And then, DC-motor can be control plant. Finally, I will prove to build speed control system of multiple DC-motor through Ethernet.

  • In this paper, back-propagation neural network is used for the identification and trajectory control of a DC motor. The neural network is trained to identify the unknown nonlinear dynamics of the motor and load and the trained neural network is used for speed control of the DC motor to have good performance. Simulation results show the good performance of the control system based on the neural network under arbitrarily chosen speed trajectories.

  • Motor frequency can be measured by a hall sensor. Among the many hall sensors, a linear type hall sensor is good at high accuracy frequency measuring problem. However, in general, this linear type hall sensor has DC offset which can vary along sensor's operating voltage change. Therefore, In motor frequency measurement problem using the linear hall sensor, it needs an estimator that can estimate frequency and DC offset simultaneously. In this paper, we propose the least mean square estimator to estimate motor frequency. To verify its performance, we compare the LMS estimator with a commercial analog tachometer. Experimental results shows the proposed LMS estimator works well in varying frequency and stationary DC offset.

  • Two control algorithms for synchronizing multiple DC motors are proposed to compensate load variation and gain mismatches. Specifically, a mathematical model of a practical DC servo system is drived and analyzed to see synchronizing effect at the steady-state. Also a compensator is proposed to synchronize multiple motors at the transient-state. As an experimental system, two-axis synchronizing control system is developed and tested to show the validities of our proposed method.

  • This paper studies on the noise reduction for a small automobile DC Motor (a window motor) using the 6 sigma process. The application of 6 sigma process suggested reliable and valuable statistical data for the quality of the DC motor at the production line. In the measurement step in 6 sigma process, the FMEA(Failure Mode Effect Analysis) were used for the detection of noise sources. The application of 6 sigma process gave not only the improving method for the quality of the DC motor but also the confidence of improvement itself since it was done on the basis of the test results for a number of DC motors at the production line. Consequently the 6 sigma process was proved very effective for the noise reduction at the production line.

  • This paper deals with the disturbance observer (DOB) based sliding mode control (SMC) for a DC motor to control motor rotating speed precisely and to ensure strong robustness against disturbance including load torque and parameter variation. The reason of steady state error in speed on conventional SMC without DOB is analyzed in detail. Especially, the suggested DOB is designed to prevent measuring noise and harmonics caused by derivative operation on rotating speed. The control performance of the DOB based SMC is evaluated by the various simulations. The simulation results showed that the DOB based SMC had more robust performance than the SMC system without DOB. Especially, precise speed control was possible even though motor parameter variation and load torque was added to the system.

  • This paper discusses the development of a new optimization algorithm for DC motor design. In principle, the new algorithm utilizes a mixed method that consists of genetic algorithms in conjunction with direct search method. The genetic algorithms are used for locating the global optimum region while the direct search method is used to achieve objective function convergence. In order to validate the effectiveness, the new algorithm has been applied to an actual DC motor. Field and torque characteristics of the DC motor are computed using finite element method and the principle of virtual work, respectively.
