What is Monitored and by Whom in Online Collaborative Learning?: Analysis of Monitoring Tools in Learner Dashboard

  • The purpose of this study is to draw implications for designing online tools to support monitoring in collaborative learning. For this purpose, eighteen research papers that explored learner dashboards and group awareness tools were analyzed. The driving questions for this analysis related to the information and outcomes that must be monitored, whose performance they represent, and who monitors the extent of learning. The analytical frameworks used for this study included the following: three modes of co-regulation in terms of who regulates whose learning (self-regulation in collaborative learning, other regulation, and socially shared regulation) and four categories of dashboard information to determine which information is monitored (information about preparation, participation, interaction, and achievements). As a result, five design implications for learner dashboards that support monitoring were posited: a) Monitoring tools for collaborative learning should support multiple targets: the individual learner, peers, and the entire group; b) When supporting personal monitoring, information about the individual and peers should be displayed simultaneously to allow direct comparison; c) Information on collaborative learning achievements should be provided in terms of the content of knowledge acquired rather than test scores; d) In addition to information related to interaction between learners, the interaction between learners and learning materials can also be provided; and e) Presentation of the same information to individuals or groups should be variable.

진동 규제기준에 따른 인체의 허용 한계거리 예측 (The Prediction of Allowable Limit Distance about Human Body by Vibration Regulation)

  • The shock vibration such as machine vibration, blasting vibration etc. has effect on nearby structure as well as human body. The purpose of this study is to predict allowable limit distance of vibration about human body. First of all, vibration velocity such as PPV, PVS was measured by shock vibration experiment, and vibration level was calculated by conversion formula of vibration velocity. And then, allowable limit distance was analyzed by converted vibration level. The results are as follows : Firstly, the correlation coefficient of converted vibration level was over R=0.94, and vibration level caused by PVS was usually represented to high curve line. Secondly, the cross point of vibration level between ground and concrete condition was represented to 66.68dB(V), and allowable limit distance was represented to difference over three times when vibration regulation was raised from 65dB(V) to 80dB(V).

Regulation of $[^3H]Norepinephrine$ Release by Opioids in Human Cerebral Cortex

  • To investigate the receptors mediating the regulation of norepinephrine (NE) release in human cerebral cortex slices, we examined the effects of opioid agonists for ${\mu}$-, ${\delta}$-, and ${\kappa}$-receptors on the high potassium (15 mM)-evoked release of [$^3H$]NE. [$^3H$]NE release induced by high potassium was calcium-dependent and tetrodotoxin-sensitive. [$D-Pen^2$, $D-Pen^5$]enkephalin (DPDPE) and deltorphin II (Delt II) inhibited the stimulated release of norepinephrine in a dose-dependent manner. However, Tyr-D-Ala-Gly-(Me)Phe-Gly-ol and U69,593 did not influence the NE release. Inhibitory effect of DPDPE and Delt-II was antagonized by naloxone, naltrindole, 7-benzylidenaltrexone and naltriben. These results suggest that both ${\delta}_1$ and ${\delta}_2$ receptors are involved in regulation of NE release in human cerebral cortex.

MB-OFDM UWB 시스템에서 DAA 기술 기준 적용을 위한 피 간섭 신호 검출 방안 연구 (A Detection Algorithm Study of the Victim Signal for the DAA Regulation in MB-OFDM UWB System)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 3.1~4.8 GHz 대역에서 UWB를 허용하기 위해 MB-OFDM UWB 통신을 수행하지 않는 silent time 동안 MB-OFDM UWB 시스템 수신 구조를 이용하여 국내 DAA 기술 기준에서 정한 -80 dBm/MHz 이상의 피 간섭 신호를 검출하고 피 간섭 신호의 주파수 대역을 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안하는 것이다. 국내 DAA 기술 기준에서는 UWB 기기에서 -80 dBm/MHz 이상의 피 간섭 신호를 검출할 경우, 2초 이내에 회피 동작을 수행하도록 정의하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 UWB 통신 채널 변경을 통한 간섭 회피 동작을 수행하기 위해 -80 dBm/MHz 이상의 피 간섭 신호를 시간 영역 수신 신호 정보를 이용하여 검출하는 피 간섭 신호 검출 알고리즘과 UWB 통신 대역을 유지하면서 피 간섭 신호가 존재하는 대역에서만 송신 출력을 -70 dBm/MHz 이하로 낮추는 tone-nulling 회피 동작을 수행하기 위해 주파수 영역 정보를 이용하여 피 간섭 신호의 subcarrier 위치를 추적하는 알고리즘을 제시하고, 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 검증하였다.

Effects of Extracellular Stimulation of Different Niche Condition on the Transcriptional Regulation of Matrix Metalloproteinase Genes in the Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

  • Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been known to affect to cell migration, proliferation, morphogenesis and apoptosis by degrading the extracellular matrix. In the previous studies, undifferentiated mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) were successfully proliferated inside the extracellular matrix (ECM) analog-conjugated three-dimensional (3D) poly ethylene glycol (PEG)-based hydrogel. However, there is no report about MMP secretion in ESCs, which makes it difficult to understand and explain how ESCs enlarge space and proliferate inside 3D PEG-based hydrogel constructed by crosslinkers containing MMP-specific cleavage peptide sequence. Therefore, we investigated what types of MMPs are released from undifferentiated ESCs and how extracellular signals derived from various niche conditions affect MMP expression of ESCs at the transcriptional level. Results showed that undifferentiated ESCs expressed specifically MMP2 and MMP3 mRNAs. Transcriptional up-regulation of MMP2 was caused by the 3D scaffold, and activation of integrin inside the 3D scaffold upregulated MMP2 mRNAs synergistically. Moreover, mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) on 2D matrix and 3D scaffold induced upregulation of MMP3 mRNAs, and activation of integrins through conjugation of extracellular matrix (ECM) analogs with 3D scaffold upregulated MMP3 mRNAs synergistically. These results suggest that successful proliferation of ESCs inside the 3D PEG-based hydrogel may be caused by increase of MMP2 and MMP3 expression resulting from 3D scaffold itself as well as activation of integrins inside the 3D PEG-based scaffold.

Effect of Prostaglandins $D_2,\;E_2\;and\;I_2\;on\;the\;Regulation\;of\;K_{ATP}$ Channel Activity in Rat Cardiac Myocytes

  • Contribution of prostaglandins $D_2,\;E_2\;and\;I_2\;(PGD_2,\;PGE_2\;and\;PGI_2)$ on the regulation of ATP-sensitive $K^+$ channel $(K_{ATP}\;channel)$ was investigated in isolated single rat ventricular cardiac myocytes using the patch clamp technique. $PGD_2,\;PGE_2\;and\; PGI_2$ did not affect $K_{ATP}$ channel activity in the inside-out patch, but increased channel activity in a dose-dependent manner when the channel activities were attenuated by the administration of 100 ${\mu}M$ ATP to the internal solution in the inside-out patch. Channel activations by the prostaglandins were abolished by 50 ${\mu}M$ glibenclamide, a $K_{ATP}$ channel blocker. Dose-response curves of relative channel activity against the ATP concentrations of internal solution in the inside-out patch were shifted to the right in the presence of those three prostaglandins. The rank order of the channel stimulatory potencies $(as\;IC_{50}\;for\;ATP)$ calculated from the dose-response curves were $PGI_2\;>\;PGD_2\;>\;PGE_2.$ Conductance of the channel was not changed by those three prostaglandins. In conclusion, we suggest that prostaglandins $D_2,\;E_2\;and\;I_2$ are involved in the regulation of $K_{ATP}$ channel activity in certain circumstances, and that those three prostaglandins may cause myocardial relaxation by opening $K_{ATP}$ channels, thus protecting the heart from ischema.

8.2MHz 대역 미약 전계강도 무선기기의 출력기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Technical Regulation of Weak Electric Filed Strength Radio Equipment about 8.2Hz Frequency Band)

  • 본 논문에서는 8.2MHz 대역의 국내 미약 전계 강도 무선기기의 출력 제한치를 다른 외국의 기준치와 비교하였다. 이를 통해 국내의 규정이 미국이나 유럽에 비해 낮음을 대략 10-20dB 정도 낮음을 확인하였고, 이를 검증하기 위해 8.2MHz EAS 시스템의 출력을 측정하였다. 측정 결과, 전계 강도값이 각각 $70.6dB{\mu}V/m$$68.3dB{\mu}V/m$로 측정되었는데, 이러한 값은 국내의 현재기준인 $59.8dB{\mu}V/m$를 초과하는 값임을 확인하였다. 따라서 8.2MHz 대역의 국내기준의 사향 검토가 필요하다 사료된다.

TAp73 and ΔNp73 Have Opposing Roles in 5-aza-2'-Deoxycytidine-Induced Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells

  • The p73 gene contains an extrinsic P1 promoter and an intrinsic P2 promoter, controlling the transcription of the pro-apoptotic TAp73 isoform and the anti-apoptotic ${\Delta}Np73$ isoform, respectively. The DNA methylation status of both promoters act equally in the epigenetic transcriptional regulation of their relevant isoforms. The aim of this study was to analyze the different effects of these p73 isoforms in 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC)-induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells. We investigated the effects of the DNA demethylation agent, 5-aza-dC, on the T-47D breast cancer cell line, and evaluated the methylation status of the p73 promoters and expression of TAp73 and ${\Delta}Np73$. Furthermore, we assessed the expression of p53 and p73 isoforms in 5-aza-dC-treated T-47D cells and p53 knockout cells. 5-aza-dC induced significant anti-tumor effects in T-47D cells, including inhibition of cell viability, G1 phase arrest and apoptosis. This was associated with p73 promoter demethylation and a concomitant increase in TAp73 mRNA and protein expression. In contrast, the methylation status of promoter P2 was not associated with ${\Delta}Np73$ mRNA or protein levels. Furthermore, demethylation of P2 failed to inhibit the expression of ${\Delta}Np73$ with 5-aza-dC in the p53 knockdown cell model. Our study suggests that demethylation of the P1 and P2 promoters has opposite effects on the expression of p73 isoforms, namely up-regulation of TAp73 and down-regulation of ${\Delta}Np73$. We also demonstrate that p53 likely contributes to 5-aza-dC-induced ${\Delta}Np73$ transcriptional inactivation in breast cancer cells.

Differential Regulation of the Promoter Activity of the Mouse UCP2 and UCP3 Genes by MyoD and Myogenin

  • UCP2 and UCP3 are members of the uncoupling protein family, which may play roles in energy homeostasis. In order to determine the regulation of the predominant expression of UCP3 in skeletal muscle, the effects of differentiation and myogenic regulatory factors on the promoter activities of the mouse UCP2 and UCP3 genes were studied. Reporter plasmids, containing approximately 3 kb of the 5'-upstream region of the mouse UCP2 and UCP3 genes, were transfected into C2C12 myoblasts, which were then induced to differentiate. Differentiation positively induced the reporter expression about 20-fold via the UCP3 promoter, but by only 2-fold via the UCP2 promoter. C2C12 myoblasts were cotransfected with expression vectors for myogenin and/or MyoD as well as reporter constructs. The simultaneous expression of myogenin and MyoD caused an additional 20-fold increase in the reporter expression via the UCP3 promoter, but only a weak effect via the UCP2 promoter. In L6 myoblasts, only MyoD activated the UCP3 promoter, but in 3T3-L1 cells neither factor activated the UCP3 promoter, indicating that additional cofactors are required, which are present only in C2C12 myoblasts. The expression of UCP2 and UCP3 is differentially regulated during muscle differentiation due to the different responsiveness of their promoter regions to myogenin and MyoD.

철근콘크리트 구조물 내의 철근을 활용한 피뢰설비 인하도선의 설치방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Installation Method of Down Conductors of the Lightning Protection System, using Rebar in Reinforced Concrete Structures)

  • IEC Standards on lightning protection system specify the use of natural components as down conductors. This paper provides an analysis of problems revealed from our field investigation and survey conducted for the relevant experts in the construction site where natural components are used as down conductors. It also considers a suitable condition for installing natural components as down conductors in accordance with the latest version of the standard. As a result, when rebars of reinforced concrete are used as down conductors, vertical bars consisting of rebars of which thickness is not less than D13($127mm^2$) should be connected by welding, clamps or bound joints, using appropriate connection components conforming to IEC Standards. The lashed joints, however, shall not be applied for down conductors.
