A simultaneous measurement system that can analyze the flow-structure interactions(FSI) has been constructed and analyses on the flow field and the motion field of a floating cylinder was made. The three-dimensional vector fields around the cylinder are measured by 3D-PTV technique while the motion of the cylinder forced by the flow field is measured simultaneously with a newly developed motion tracking algorithm(bidirectional tracking algorithm). The cylinder is pendant in the working fluid of a water channel and the surface of the working fluid is forced sinusoidal to make the cylinder bounced. The interaction between the flow fields and the cylinder motion is examined quantitatively.

The principal objective of this study was to assess the quality characteristics of Sprouted Brown Rice Dasik(SBRD) manufactured with various addition levels of honey and Yujacheong(Yuja syrup and Yuja sarcocarp) in accordance with the traditional method for the preparation of Korean Dasik(a kind of cookie). The nutritional components, color value, physical tests, volatile compounds, and sensory evaluation of SBRD to which Yujacheong was added were conducted. The results were summarized as follows. In SBRD to which Yujacheong had been added, the moisture contents and crude fat content did not differ significantly among the sample groups, and the contents of crude protein and crude ash increased with increasing additions of Yuja syrup and Yuja sarcocarp. The pH(p<0.001) and sweetness(p<0.001) were significantly higher in sample D1 than in samples D2 and D4. The L color value was highest in D2, the a value was highest in D3, and the b value was highest in sample D2. The texture property analysis showed that the cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess, and chewiness of SBRD to which Yujacheong was added were all significantly higher compared to sample D1. According to the results of our volatile analysis, the D1 and other experimental groups evidenced different flavors and antibacterial compositions. According to the results of our sensory evaluation, the appearance of the D1 sample was superior to the other samples. However, flavor, taste, texture, and overall preference were higher in the samples to which Yuja syrup and Yuja sarcocarp were added. These results indicate that SBRD to which Yujacheong was added, and particularly those to which Yuja syrup was added, is superior to Dasik prepared with honey in terms of flavor and taste, and this method will improve the flavor and preparation time, due to its lower pH.

The values of crystalline-electric-field parameters $A_{nm}$ for $RFe_{11}$Ti $H_{x}$ (R=Tb,Ho) (x=0,l) are obtained by fitting calculations to the magnetization curves along the crystal axes at 4.2 K and higher temperatures. The insertion of H element in RFe$_{11}$Ti significantly affects CEF parameters $A_{nm}$ . By using exchange field 2${\mu}$$_{B}$ $H_{ex}$ derived by inelastic neutron scattering and fitted $A_{nm}$ , the calculations reproduce the experimental curves well.

Recently RBI softwares have received widespread interests from various industries. The available RBI softwares have variety of levels of analysis, fields of applications and damage mechanisms considered, which depend on the software developing institutes. In this paper results of a GSP(Group Sponsored Project) entitled 'Study on Surveying Functions of Foreign RBI Softwares' are summarized. A part of the study is explained in detail as a sample case for showing the contents of the project. Based on the demo softwares as well as the open documents and contents obtained in the web pages of the developer critical comparisons of the well-known RBI softwares were made. The required functions of the optimal RBI software is also discussed from the review results of this study.

A bacterium capable of poly(${\gamma}$-glutamic acid) production was isolated from nonpasteurized soy sauce. It was judged to be a variety of Bacillus subtilis and designated as B. subtilis C1. B. subtilis C1 produced ${\gamma}$-PGA in the absence of exogenous glutamic acid; therefore, it is a de novo PGA­producing bacterium. The product produced by B. subtilis C1 was characterized by amino acid analysis to be composed of solely glutamic acid. However, the $H^1-NMR$ spectra showed chemical shifts of glycerol protons in addition to those of authentic ${\gamma}$-PGA, indicating that the product is in fact a bioconjugate of ${\gamma}$-PGA. The finding is unique, because the microbial production of ${\gamma}$-PGA bioconjugate has never been reported before. The molecular mass of the product was over 10,000 kDa as determined by GPC, and $97\%$ of the product was D-glutamate, indicating that L-glutamate was converted to its D-form counterpart by B. subtilis C1.

Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HCAs) are potent mutagens and possible human carcinogens that are formed during the heating of protein-rich foods. The effects of preheating treatment of beef patties using a microwave prior to frying at $220^{\circ}C$ for 10 min on each side on the reduction of HCAs (amino-carbolines and amino-imidazo-azaarenes) were evaluated. The amount of HCAs was then evaluated by solid-phase extraction and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The beef patties were treated by microwaving for various times (0, 1, 1.5, 2, or 3 min) before pan-frying. The results revealed the presence of 3-amino-1-methyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole (Trp-P-2), 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyrido-[4,3-b] indole (Trp-P-1), 2-amino-6-methyldipyrido[1,2-a:3',2'-d]imidazole (Glu-P-1), 2-aminodipyrido[1,2-a:3',2'-d]imidazole (Glu-P-2), 9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole (Norharman), 1-methyl-9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indole (Harman), 2-amino-9H-pyrido[2,3-b] indole ($A{\alpha}C$), 2-amino-3,8 dimethylimidazo[4,5-f]-quinoxaline (MeIQx) and 2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]-pyridine (PhIP) in all samples. However, microwave pretreatment for 1 min inhibited the formation of these HCAs by up to 90% when compared to the control.

Objective: Gami-Samhwang-San, a herbal prescription for obesity treatment, is composed of seven crude herbs such as Ephedrae Herba, Scutellariae Radix, Acori Gramineri Rhizoma, Polygalae Radix, Typhae Pollen, Armeniacae Semen, Nelumbo Folium. This study was aimed to evaluate marker substances in n-butanol fraction (SH-21-B) from Gami-Samhwang-San by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). And we predicted inhibition activity of major compounds of Gami-Samhwang-San using Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships (QSAR) Methods: The separation was performed on a YMC J,sphere-H80 CI8(250${\times}$4.6 mm I.D) column by gradient elution with $H_3PO_4$ buffers in acetonitrile as the moblie phase at a flow-rate of 1.0ml/min. Results: HPLC was employed to determine the quantities and the qualities of several marker substances such as ephedrine, pseudoephedirne, baicalin, ${\beta}-asarone$, tenuifoliside, naringenin, amygdalin and hyperoside in the SH-21-B. Conclusion: We suggest this results could be a useful evidence for quality control of SH-21-B.

This paper investigates the permanent magnet (PM) overhang effect on the characteristics such as cogging torque and torque in brushless DC motor (BLDCM). The overhang effect has been used to enlarge the performance of the radial flux density in BLDCM and balance the force in the axial direction for the reduction of the vibration. 3D equivalent magnetic circuit network method (3D EMCNM) is used for the accurate and efficient analysis. The characteristics of BLDCM are analyzed according to the variation of overhang length and the optimal length and ratio of overhang is determined.

B. mandarina of Korean population apparently differs B. mori in isozyme analysis. Fourteen polymorphism occurred B. mandarina not in B. mori at 6 isozymes, Bph, Bes, Amy-hc, Ies, Ict-D, Ict-E. Korean population has shared with the Korean native strain of B. mori in B genotype of Bes, F of Amy-hc, n of Ict-E, M and S of Ict-H. These 5 genotype were known that detection only Korean native strains of B. mori. Nei's genetic distance based on the genotype of isozyme and hemolymph protein using 4 populations of B. mandarina varied from 0.0350 to 0.0624. The distances of 0.0350 is between Jinju and Chilgok population and between Jinju and Kosung population has the largest distances, 0.0624. In genus of Bombyx, B. mandarina and B. mori, genetic distance varied from 0.3822 to 0.5074. Phylogenetic tree obtained using the subprogram UPGMA of NTSYS represented that Bombyx devided two group, B. mandarina and B. mori. B. mandarina has genetic differences according to the population within the Korean peninsula, but that was not recognized genetic variation or divergence considering low values of genetic distance.
