SM40C 강의 열처리가 피로균열전파속도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Heat Treatment on the Fatigue Crack Propagation in SM40C Steel)

  • The effect of the microstructural change on the near threshold fatigue crack growth rate in SM40C steel has been studied using the ${\Delta}K$ decreasing method. Below the total strain amplitude of 0.56%, cyclic softening occured, whereas above this value cyclic hardening occurred in the pearlitic lamellar structure. However, in the spherodized structure the cyclic hardening solely occurred. The crack growth rate in the near-threshold region was decreased with increasing prior austenite grain size and this was due to surface roughness. The crack growth rate of the spherodized structure was lower than that of the pearlite lamellar structure and the ${\Delta}K_{th}$ of the former was higher than that of the latter. It was understood that the crack propagates preferentially through the ferrite phase. The intergranular facets in the near-threshold region appeared in the spherodized structure.

  • 본 연구에서는 반복하중을 받는 철근콘크리트보의 피로현상에 피로의 지속으로 인한 크리프 특성을 고려함으로서 실제의 반복사용하중상태에서 크리프와 피로가 공존하는 것을 반영하여 모델을 구성하였다. 반복크리프 모델에서, 철근 콘크리트 보의 휨손상 진행에 따른 압축영역의 손상속도를 정확히 대표할 수 있는 반복크리프 지수(n)의 특성을 도입하여 평가하였다. 이 지수는 크리프특성의 지수 n$_1$과 피로특성의 지수 n$_2$로 구분하였다. 모델의 적정성을 평가하기 위하여 철근콘크리트보의 피로실험을 수행하였으며, n$_2$의 경우 보통강도에서 고강도까지 콘크리트의 강도와 하중크기를 주요변수로 실험하였다. 본 실험결과로부터 반복하중에 의한 크리프모델의 지수를 결정하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 반복크리프모델은 철근콘크리트 보의 피로손상의 누적과 처짐거동을 잘 설명할 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 앞으로 이들 부재의 피로거동해석에 유용하게 적용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Experimental study on fracture behavior of SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber under cyclic loading

  • The increase in waste tires has brought serious environmental problems. Using waste tires rubber particles as aggregate in concrete can reduce pollution and decrease the usage of natural aggregate. The paper describes an investigation on flexural bearing capacity of self-compacting concrete (SCC) pavement slabs containing crumb rubber. Cyclic loading tests with different stress ratios and loading frequencies are carried out on SCC pavement slabs containing crumb rubber. Based on Paris Law and test data, the fatigue life of SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber is discussed, and a revised mathematical model is established to predict the fatigue life of SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber. The model applies to different stress ratios and loading frequencies. The fatigue life of SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber is affected by the stress ratio and loading frequency. The fatigue life increases with the increase of stress ratio and loading frequency. Real-time acoustic emission (AE) signals in the SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber under cyclic loading are measured, and the characteristics of crack propagation in the SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber under different stress ratios and loading frequencies are compared. The AE signals provide abundant information of fracture process zone and crack propagation. The variation of AE ringing count, energy and b-value show that the fracture process of SCC pavement slab containing crumb rubber is divided into three stages.

7050 AI 합금의 가공열처리가 미세조직변화와 피로성질에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Thermomechanical Treatment on the Microstructural Changes and Fatigue Properties in 7050 Al Alloy)

  • The effects of thermomechanical treatments on microstructure and fatigue properties of 7050 Al alloy were investigated. The precipitation kinetics changed to a faster rate due to cold deformation employed in this special TAHA thermomechanical treatments including pre-aging, plastic deformation and two step final-aging. The G.P. zones in the under-aged condition were cut by dislocations and dissolved during the plastic deformation. During the low cycle fatigue, the T6' condition showed cyclic hardening behavior whereas the TMT5, TMT27 and T76 conditions showed cyclic softening at above 0.7% total strain amplitudes. The ${\Delta}K_{th}$ value of TMT27 was improved more than two times, compared with that of T76 condition. The T6' with small shearable precipitates resulted in the markedly high ${\Delta}K_{th}$ value. This is thought to be resulted from dislocation reversibility and roughness-induced crack closure due to planarity of slip.

  • Aluminum/Aramid Fiber Reinforced Plastic(Al/AFRP) laminates are applied to the fuselage-wing intersection. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the delamination zone behavior of Al/AFRP with a saw-cut and circular hole using average stress criterion and the effect of notch geometry. Mechanical tests were carried out to determine the cyclic-bending moment and delamination zone observed ultrasonic C-scan pictures. In case of Al/AFRP containing saw-cut specimen, the shape and size of the delamination zone formed along the fatigue crack. However, in case of Al/AFRP containing circular hole specimen, the shape and size of delamination zone formed two types. first type, delamination zone formed along the fatigue crack. Second type, not observed fatigue crack. Therefore, delamination zone was formed dependently of the circular hole shape.

  • Railway wheelset is the most essential part which undergoes severe cyclic loadings. In recent years, there has been increasing need for insuring the safety of running as the speed of the railway vehicles is getting higher. So it is required on the assessment of fatigue characteristics of the wheelset to consider plastic deformation which might be probable in the severe loading condition. In this study, total-strain controlled low cycle fatigue(LCF) test were performed to observe the LCF behaviors of the railway wheels and axles using companion specimens method. From the experimental results, the cyclic mechanical properties have been evaluated and total strain amplitude versus life relationship have been derived using the empirical Coffin-Manson law.

  • Fatigue fracture behavior of a hybrid joint part with bolting was evaluated in comparison to the case of static fracture. Hybrid joint part specimens for bending test were made with layers of CFRP and aluminum honeycomb. Characteristic fracture behaviors of those specimens were obviously different under static and cyclic loads. Static bending load showed the shear deformation at the honeycomb core, whereas cyclic bending load caused the delamination between CFRP skin layers and honeycomb core. Experimental results obtained by static and fatigue tests were considered in modifications of design parameters of the hybrid joint.

  • Fatigue behavior of reinforced concrete(RC) elements has been experimentally and analytical investigated. Fatigue behavior influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, strength of concrete and load ratio $P_{u}$/ $P_{o}$. The purpose of these studies is to propose an empirical formula for fatigue behavior on basis of experimental results. Also an analytical method to predict the crack propagation of RC beams has been developed based on the relationships between bond stress and slip.

  • Fatigue behavior of reinforced concrete(RC) and steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) beams has been experimentally investigated. Fatigue behavior influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, volume and type of steel fiber, strength of concrete and load ratio $P_{u}/P_{o}$. It can be observed from experimental results that addition of steel fiber to reinforced concrete beam reduces crack widths and increases stiffness, and thus enhances the behavior in serviceability limit states also for high cyclic fatigue loading.
