정적 및 피로시험에 의한 틸팅열차용 볼스터의 구조강도평가 (Strength Evaluation for Bolster of Korean Tilting Train by Static and Fatigue Tests)

  • This paper has performed static, fatigue and nondestructive test of tilting' bolster frame for Korean tilting train. From the static test, the structural safety was investigated using Goodman diagram. After the static test, the fatigue test were conducted under tilting load conditions. The fatigue test was conducted for $10\times10^6$ cycles. During the fatigue test, the nondestructive tests using magnetic particle and liquid penetrant were performed at $6\times10^6$cycle and $10\times10^6$cycle. From the crack detection tests, it was known that there was no fatigue crack in the tilting bolster.

A Preliminary Design of Flight Test Conditions for a Sub-scale RBCC Engine using a Sounding Rocket

  • Various R&D programs for rocket-based combined cycle (RBCC) engines have progressed worldwide for the space development and the defense applications. As a way toward indigenous domestic RBCC program, a preliminary design of flight test conditions was studied in this study for a sub-scale RBCC engine using a sounding rocket. Launch and flight profiles were calculated for several booster options and compared with that of HyShot II program. The result shows that the Korea Sounding Rocket-II (KSR-II) is a proper candidate to perform the flight test available in Korea. The recommend flight test conditions with KSR-II are Mach 6.0 with a test vehicle of 230 kg and Mach 7.4 with 50 kg. Present study will soon be followed by a design of sub-scale RBCC for a flight test using a sounding rocket.

Inhalation Toxicity of Bisphenol A and Its Effect on Estrous Cycle, Spatial Learning, and Memory in Rats upon Whole-Body Exposure

  • Bisphenol A (BPA) is a monomer used in a polymerization reaction in the production of polycarbonate plastics. It has been used in many consumer products, including plastics, polyvinyl chloride, food packaging, dental sealants, and thermal receipts. However, there is little information available on the inhalation toxicity of BPA. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine its inhalation toxicity and effects on the estrous cycle, spatial learning, and memory. Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to 0, 10, 30, and $90mg/m^3$ BPA, 6 hr/day, 5 days/week for 8 weeks via whole-body inhalation. Mortality, clinical signs, body weight, hematology, serum chemistry, estrous cycle parameters, performance in the Morris water maze test, and organ weights, as well as gross and histopathological findings, were compared between the control and BPA exposure groups. Statistically significant changes were observed in serum chemistry and organ weights upon exposure to BPA. However, there was no BPA-related toxic effect on the body weight, food consumption, hematology, serum chemistry, organ weights, estrous cycle, performance in the Morris water maze test, or gross or histopathological lesions in any male or female rats in the BPA exposure groups. In conclusion, the results of this study suggested that the no observable adverse effect level (NOAEL) for BPA in rats is above $90mg/m^3$/6 hr/day, 5 days/week upon 8-week exposure. Furthermore, BPA did not affect the estrous cycle, spatial learning, or memory in rats.

構造용高炭素鋼材 의 高溫 低 사이클 피勞擧動 에 關한 硏究 (A Study on Low-Cycle Fatigue Behavior at Elevated Temperature of High Carbon Steel Used For Structural Purpose)

  • This study was undertaken to determine tensile properties and low-cycle fatigue behavior of 0.6%C high carbon steel used of structural purposes at temperatures up to 500.deg.C. In the low-cycle fatigue test the upper limit was decided by elongation(i.e. the total strain range), while the lower limit was defined by the load (i.e. zero load). The following results were obtained. Both, the ultimate tensile strength and low-cycle fatigue resistance attain the maximum values near 250.deg.C. Above this temperature the values decrease rapidly as the temperature increases. The low-cycle fatigue resistance decreases whenever there is an increase of the total strain range. Because the hardness of cycle fatigued specimen correlates cyclic hardening and cyclic softening, therefore the hardness of cycle fatigued specimen is smaller than that of the nonfatigued specimen at room temperature and 500.deg.C but much larger than the hardness of the nonfatigued specimen near 250.deg.C.

글로벌 회사채 스프레드에 대한 경기요인 영향력 분석: 기업 신용스프레드에 대한 경기사이클의 설명력 추정을 중심으로 (A Study on the Impact of Business Cycle on Corporate Credit Spreads)

  • Purpose - This paper investigates how business cycle impacts on corporate credit spreads since global financial crisis. Furthermore, it tests how the impact changes by the phase of the cycle. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected dataset from Barclays Global Aggregate Bond Index through the Bloomberg. It conducted multi-regression analysis by projecting business cycle using Hodrick-Prescott filtering and various cyclical variables, while ran dynamic analysis of 5-variable Vector Error Correction Model to confirm the robustness of the test. Findings - First, it proves to be statistically significant that corporate credit spreads have moved countercyclicaly since the crisis. Second, It indicates that the corporate credit spread's countercyclicality to the macroeconomic changes works symmetrically by the phase of the cycle. Third, the VECM supports that business cycle's impact on the spreads maintains more sustainably than other explanatory variable does in the model. Research implications or Originality - It becomes more appealing to accurately measure the real economic impact on corporate credit spreads as the interaction between credit and business cycle deepens. The economic impact on the spreads works symmetrically by boom and bust, which implies that the market stress could impact as another negative driver during the bust. Finally, the business cycle's sustainable impact on the spreads supports the fact that the economic recovery is the key driver for the resilience of credit cycle.

  • 75톤급 가스발생기 사이클 액체로켓엔진 개발을 위한 시험영역을 정의하였다. 엔진 시스템 영역은 비행시 발생하는 엔진 입구조건의 변화에 따른 변동과 각 구성품이 가지는 오차에 의한 성능 분산을 고려하고 추가의 성능 여유를 두도록 정의하였다. 엔진 시스템 시험에 상응하는 구성품의 작동영역을 정의하고 이에 추가의 여유를 두어 개발하도록 구성품 시험 영역을 정의하였다.

복합재료 시험편에서의 AE 발생 특성에 관한 연구 (Acoustic Emission Measurement on the Composite Material (CFRP))

  • Acoustic Emission was monitored during tensile test and loading-holding-unloa-ding cycle test for two types (notched and unnotched) of CFRP specimens. AE activities showed that the fiber breakage during tensile tests depended upon the specimen geometry. We obtained new AE parameter such as the ration (damage ratio= AE events during unloading test / AE events during loading test) and the felicity ratio from which we investigated dynamic fracture process of CFRP specimens. The damage ratio of AE events was shown to be a good indicator to distinguish the generated fracture mechanism, such as fiber breakage and delamination. Also, ultrasonic testing results after loading-holding-unloading cycle test were good agreement with AE test results to detect defects or fiber breakage.

Companies Life Cycle Stages and Capital Structure in Emerging Markets: Evidence from Iran

  • Purpose - The current research examines the effect of life cycle stages on capital structure of listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange. Research design, data, methodology - By aid of 685 year-company data, which collected from financial statements of companies during 2006-2012, first, the companies, are classified into three groups including companies in growth, maturity and decline stages. After removing the companies, which were not in accordance with life cycle model, 86 companies were selected to test two main hypotheses of the research. Results - The results show that the capital structure of the sample companies is different in various life cycle stages. More investigation by LSD test also revealed that the total debt to total assets ratio means of the companies in growth stages were significantly different from those companies in maturity stages and those in growth stages had high level of debt to assets ratio. Conclusions - The result showed the average amount of the working capital for companies in three stages are significantly different and due to high level of operation of the companies in maturity and decline stages, these companies held high amount of working capital than those in the growth stages.

  • The sulfur-iodine (SI) thermochemical water splitting cycle is one of promising hydrogen production methods from water using high-temperature heat generated from a high temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactor (HTGR). The SI cycle consists of three main units, such as Bunsen reaction, HI decomposition, and $H_2SO_4$ decomposition. The feasibility of continuous operation of a series of subunits for $H_2SO_4$ decomposition was investigated with a bench-scale facility working at ambient pressure. It showed stable and reproducible $H_2SO_4$ decomposition by steadily producing $SO_2$ and $O_2$ corresponding to a capacity of 1 mol/h $H_2$ for 24 hrs.
