  • The tribological properties of paper-based friction materials are crucial to the performance of a wet clutch system. In this work, the friction and wear characteristics of a paper-based friction material in boundary lubrication state was experimentally investigated using a pin-on-reciprocating tribotester under various normal forces and temperatures. It was found that the wear rate of the friction material increased from $5.8{\times}10^{-6}mm^3/N/cycle$ to $5.5{\times}10^{-5}mm^3/N/cycle$ after 1,700 cycles of testing at $80^{\circ}C$ as normal force increased from 2 N to 7 N. The friction coefficient was also found to increase from 0.135 to 0.155 with increasing normal force from 2 N to 7 N. The increase in contact pressure with increasing normal force may be responsible for these results. In addition, as temperature increased from $20^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$, the wear rate of the friction materials increased from $2.0{\times}10^{-5}mm^3/N/cycle$ to $3.6{\times}10^{-5}mm^3/N/cycle$ while the friction coefficient decreased from 0.163 to 0.146. This result may be associated with the decrease in the hardness of friction materials with increasing temperature. Furthermore, plastic deformation on the friction materials was mainly observed after the test. The outcome of this work may be useful to gain a better understanding of the tribological properties of friction materials, and therefore can contribute to the development of friction materials with enhanced performance for wet clutch systems.

  • Ultrastructural changes in the cuticle of Paleamon serrifer associated with the intermolt cycle were examined and quantified as changes in the cuticular thickness. The cuticular thickness in each zoea stage increased with time elapsed after molting. The cuticle in the premolt stage was about 1.5 and 3 times thicker than that in the postmolt and intermolt stage, respectively. The cuticle in the premolt stage, including the molting space, was more than 5 times as thick as in the postmolt stage. In addition, newly hatched larvae were individually reared in the laboratory and body length for each specimen was measured frequently until the end of zoea VI. An average increase in body length between one zoea stage and the next is about $10\%$ of the length of the previous stage. Within individual zoea stages, the premolt stage had a body length some 0.3% longer than that of the postmolt stage, indicating a growth rate of about 0.03 mm/d.

  • A joint problem of order delivery, setup reduction, and cost-sharing in a two-echelon inventory system in which a vendor supplies multiple products to a group of buyers is studied here. The basic premise is that buyers have independently implemented setup reduction programs to acquire benefits from small order sizes. Doing so, however, causes the buyers' individually optimal order cycles to be differ from that of the vendor. In conjunction with this, two models are considered. In the first model, a multi-buyers single product situation is considered in which the vendor implements a joint supply cycle policy. However, buyers, as the dominant party, insist after implementing the individually optimal setup reduction that the vendor accept their individually optimal order schedules. In the second model. a multi-products, single buyer situation is considered in which the buyer implements a joint order policy. Here, the vendor, as the dominant party, refuses to cooperate fully with the buyer's individually reduced joint order schedule, and designs his own individually optimal setup reduction mix for each product under a given budget constraint. This led to a study of an integrated Setup Reduction/Break-even Pricing Policy for each situation to eliminate mismatches in individually optimal cycle times.

  • This paper presents CARMA (Cycle-Accurate Retargetable Micro-Architecture) as efficient framework for SoC-centric pipelined instruction-set architectures. It is based on ADL (Architecture Description Language) and provides more concise and manifest semantics to describe behavior of instruction set by mixing efficiency of instruction-set simulators and flexibility of RTL simulators. It exploits new timing model method based on process scheduling so it can support general timing model with cycle accuracy for large-scaled architectures usually used in SoC multimedia chip-set. According to experiments, the proposed framework was shown to be 5.5 times faster than HDL and 2.5 times faster than System-C in simulation speed so it is applicable for complex instruction-set pipelined architectures.

  • This paper presents the development of a high efficiency transport refrigeration system for sliced-raw fish transportation. The refrigeration system is equipped with heat storage for reverse cycle-hot gas defrost (the stored heat is used during defrost cycle of the system). System performance and container operating conditions are analyzed during experimental investigation on a $3,225{\times}1,740{\times}1,640\;mm$ full-scale refrigerated container under cooling and defrosting conditions. The prototype system indicates better performance in terms of shorter cooling-down time, shorter defrost time and smaller fluctuations of refrigerated container's temperature.

  • This study investigated the life cycle of menus and made suggestions on the appropriate time for when new menus should be developed. For this purpose, a total of 636 customers who visited 'T' Restaurant more than 25 times in the past three years were used for analysis. After estimating product life cycles based on sales and selling period, an empirical study was conducted. In terms of product life cycle, a growth stage was observed in the category of pasta and pizza in both stores A and B, whereas sales in the rice category stayed constant. Regarding trend in seasonal sales, a big difference was detected between the two stores. While store A was already in the decline stage of the life cycle in all menu categories, store B remained in the growth stage. In terms of menu life cycle, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the pasta category in both stores A and B. While the pizza category was in the growth stage, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the rice category. It is expected that the results of this study could be useful in development of new menus and product life cycle management to fulfill diverse customer needs in the dining-out business.

  • This study aims to examine the effects of international trade in intermediate input on the implications of international business cycle properties in Korea. To do this, I have extended standard one goods New Keynesian international business cycle model to incorporate the role of intermediate inputs. After constructing the DSGE model, I have analysed the impulse response function and varian decomposition results. The results show that the model could introduce a new channel, that is, "cost channel" like Eyquem and Kamber (2014). In other words, the model has changed the dynamics of aggregate inflation by the cost channel. When the trade in intermediate goods increase, which is measured by openness of foreign input, the volatility of output, consumption and inflation increase two or three times. However, the model itself fails to explain the full account of cycle behavior of historical data, but the results imply that the trade in intermediate input assumption can help to improve the forecasting ability of international business cycle models.

  • This paper presents a new lithium ion unit-cell and pack battery by using a new formulation ratio of material. The three types of formulation ratio for the unit-cell were used. The life cycle and basic properties of the lithium ion unit-cell$({\Psi}18{\times}65(mm))$ about one of them were acquired by the charge-discharge experiment. The nominal voltage, nominal capacity and cycle life output of the lithium ion unit-cell is respectively 3.7V, 2.4Ah, and above 500cycle. Pack type lithium ion battery has the size of $29.5{\times}73.5{\times}115(mm)$ and the weight of 300g. As the results, the weight and bulk of lithium ion battery used to a safety lamp were decreased to 1/4 and 1/7. In addition, the comparison of the new lithium ion battery and lead storge battery for confirming the effectiveness of the new lithium ion battery have been performed.

  • This study was carried out to obtain knowledges on the survival of Streptococcus mutans in the yoghurt added with green tea powder. The growth inhibition of green tea powder on the food borne pathogens and oral bacteria was measured by total microbial count, Among the tested food borne pathogens, the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enteritidis were not significantly affected by the addition of green tea powder, but green tea powder showed the growth inhibition effect on Escherichia coli O157:H7. The number of surviving Streptococcus mutans cell was decreased by $0.56\~0.99log$ cycle after 24 hem incubation by the addition of $0.5\~2.5\%$ green tea powder in the medium. And also the viable cell count of surviving Streptococcus mutans cells (initial inoculum $3.4\times10^7CFU/mL$) were decreased to $1.4\times10^4\~7.2\times10^4 CFU/mL$ after 48 hours incubation when $0.5\~2.5\%$ green tea powder were added to the drinkable yoghurt, Growth of Streptococcus mutans was strongly inhibited by the addition and incubation of green tea powder for 48 hum in the yoghurt.
