  • Currently, Many Cyber Security Centers(CSC) are established and being operated in our country. But, in the absence of indicators to evaluate activities of the Managed Security Service(MSS), We can't identify the CSC's level of overall job performance. Therefore, we can't derive strengths and weaknesses from the CSC. From these reasons, The purpose of this research is to develop an objective indicator to evaluate activities of the MSS. I studied both international and domestic Information Security Management System(ISMS) as related standards(ISO/IEC 27001, G-ISMS). Moreover, I analysed the NIST Computer Security Incident Handing Guide and the Incident Management Capability Metrics(IMCM) of Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute(SEI). The implications for this analysis and domestic hands-on experience are reflected in the research. So I developed 10 evaluation domains and 62 detail evaluation items. This research will contribute to our understanding the level of the CSC's job performance.

  • Voice phishing against the old or weak persons have used the methods which are social engineering in the object and financial structure and function. Until recently Voice phishing from Chaina caused economic devastation and the economic loss by phishing grows with the South Koreans in the whole. Korean government and public organizations involved have been strengthening protection system and a financial security devices. But it is not easy to verify how much effects of security measures are. In this paper I will study the economic loss caused by voice phishing and potential economic effects of security measures and security device reinforcements of the Republic of Korea. Direct costs are reported about 100 million dollars and potential economic effects of voice phinshing secure measures may be around 320 million dollars.

  • As industrial information disclosure by insider's rate is around 80%, most of relevant researches explain briefly its causes are discontent of salary or human resources system. This paper scrapes texts on Jobplanet, an anonymous company review website and analyzes discontent keyword by 7 related area and their contexts to find out more details on brief causes referred above. After drawing LGG (Local Grammar Graph) by each areas with related dictionary list, this paper shows an example of concordance as a proof and several ways for human resources leakage prevention. Finally, text analysis results are compared with previous researches based on survey with limited questions and answers. This study is meaningful to expand the scope of employee discontent analysis with company review text and provide more specific, granular and honest discontent vocabularies.

  • Industrial Control System (ICS) is a system that carry out monitoring and controls of industrial control process and is applied in infrastructure such as water, power, and gas. Recently, cyber attacks such as Brutal Kangaroo, Emotional Simian, and Stuxnet 3.0 have been continuously increasing in ICS, and these security risks cause damage of human life and massive financial losses. Attacks on the control layer among the attack methods for ICS can malfunction devices of the field device layer by manipulating control commands. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a mechanism that apply the SDN between the control layer and the field device layer in the industrial control system and to determine whether the control command is legitimate or not and we show simulation results on a simply composed control system.

  • Service and users over the Internet are increasing rapidly. Cyber attacks are also increasing. As a result, information leakage and financial damage are occurring. Government, public agencies, and companies are using security systems that use signature-based detection rules to respond to known malicious codes. However, it takes a long time to generate and validate signature-based detection rules. In this paper, we propose and develop signature based detection rule generation and verification systems using the signature extraction scheme developed based on the LDA(latent Dirichlet allocation) algorithm and the traffic analysis technique. Experimental results show that detection rules are generated and verified much more quickly than before.

  • Recently, modern vehicles have been controlled by Electronic Control Units (ECUs), by which the safety and convenience of drivers are highly improved. It is known that a luxury vehicle has more than 100 ECUs to electronically control its function. However, the modern vehicles are getting targeted by cyber attacks because of this computer-based automotive system. To address the cyber attacks, automotive manufacturers have been developing some methods for securing their vehicles, such as automotive Intrusion Detection System (IDS). This development is only allowed to the automotive manufacturers because they have databases for their in-vehicle network (i.e., DBC Format File) which are highly confidential. This confidentiality poses a significant challenge to external researchers who attempt to conduct automotive security researches. To handle this restricted information, in this paper, we propose a method to partially understand the DBC Format File by analyzing in-vehicle network traffics. Our method is designed to analyze Controller Area Network (CAN) traffics so that checksum signals are identified in CAN Frame Data Field. Also, our method creates a Lookup Set by which a checksum signal is correctly estimated for a given message. We validate our method with the publicly accessible dataset as well as one from a real vehicle.

  • Recently, with the change of the intelligent security paradigm, study to apply various information generated from various information security systems to AI-based anomaly detection is increasing. Therefore, in this study, in order to convert log-like time series data into a vector, which is a numerical feature, the CBOW and Skip-gram inference methods of deep learning-based Word2Vec model and statistical method based on the coincidence frequency were used to transform the published ADFA system call data. In relation to this, an experiment was carried out through conversion into various embedding vectors considering the dimension of vector, the length of sequence, and the window size. In addition, the performance of the embedding methods used as well as the detection performance were compared and evaluated through GRU-based anomaly detection model using vectors generated by the embedding model as an input. Compared to the statistical model, it was confirmed that the Skip-gram maintains more stable performance without biasing a specific window size or sequence length, and is more effective in making each event of sequence data into an embedding vector.

  • In the recent years, cyber attacks by malicious codes called malware has become a social problem. With the explosive appearance and increase of new malware, innumerable disasters caused by metaphoric malware using the existing malicious codes have been reported. To secure more effective detection of malicious codes, in other words, to make a more accurate judgment as to whether suspicious files are malicious or not, this study introduces the malware analysis system, which is based on a profiling technique using the Finite Automata. This new analysis system enables realtime automatic detection of malware with its optimized partial execution method. In this paper, the functions used within a file are expressed by finite automata to find their correlation, and a realtime malware analysis system enabling us to give an immediate judgment as to whether a file is contaminated by malware is suggested.
