  • As Internet of Things (IoT) technology evolves, IoT devices are being utilized in a variety of fields. However, it has become a new surface of cyber attacks and is affecting industries that did not previously consider cyber breaches. After a intrusion occurs, post-processing and damage spread prevention are important, but it is difficult to respond due to the lackof standards and guidelines. Therefore, in order to respond to such incidents, this paper establishes an incident data collection procedure and presents the data that can be collected to improve the intrusion data acquisition method for general IoT devices. In addition, we proved the efficiency and feasibility of the data collection procedure through experiments.

  • In proportion to the development of the Internet and the increase in users, the rate of cyber-incident using it is increasing. As a countermeasure, there is a network separation method that separates the system accessible to users and the system containing key information from each other. However, in the case of tasks that require the use of the Internet network, it is exposed to cyber attacks, and there are many loopholes in the method of data transmission between networks and the management and operation of the system, resulting in infection of the closed network. In this paper, we aim to enhance the safety of the networking system by investigating the types and cases of infringement accidents in these network separation environments.

  • As cyber-attacks on Cyber-Physical System (CPS) become more diverse and sophisticated, it is important to quickly detect malicious behaviors occurring in CPS. Since CPS can collect sensor data in near real time throughout the process, there have been many attempts to detect anomaly behavior through normal behavior learning from the perspective of data-driven security. However, since the CPS datasets are big data and most of the data are normal data, it has always been a great challenge to analyze the data and implement the anomaly detection model. In this paper, we propose and evaluate the Clustered Deep One-Class Classification (CD-OCC) model that combines the clustering algorithm and deep learning (DL) model using only a normal dataset for anomaly detection. We use auto-encoder to reduce the dimensions of the dataset and the K-means clustering algorithm to classify the normal data into the optimal cluster size. The DL model trains to predict clusters of normal data, and we can obtain logit values as outputs. The derived logit values are datasets that can better represent normal data in terms of knowledge distillation and are used as inputs to the OCC model. As a result of the experiment, the F1 score of the proposed model shows 0.93 and 0.83 in the SWaT and HAI dataset, respectively, and shows a significant performance improvement over other recent detectors such as Com-AE and SVM-RBF.

  • When SCADA is exposed to cyber threats and attacks, serious disasters can occur throughout society. This is because various security threats have not been considered when building SCADA. The bigger problem is that it is difficult to patch vulnerabilities quickly because of its availability. Digital forensics procedures and techniques need to be used to analyze and investigate vulnerabilities in SCADA systems in order to respond quickly against cyber threats and to prevent incidents. This paper addresses SCADA forensics taxonomy and research trends for effective digital forensics investigation on SCADA system. As a result, we have not been able to find any research that goes far beyond traditional digital forensics on procedures and methodologies. But it is meaningful to develop an approach methodology using the characteristics of the SCADA system, or an exclusive tool for SCADA. Analysis techniques mainly focused on PLC and SCADA network protocol. It is because the cyber threats and attacks targeting SCADA are mostly related to PLC or network protocol. Such research seems to continue in the future. Unfortunately, there is lack of discussion about the 'Evidence Capability' such as the preservation or integrity of the evidence extracting from SCADA system in the past researches.

  • Recently, due to the importance of information security, security vulnerability analysis and various information protection technologies and security systems are being introduced as a countermeasure against cyber-attacks in new as well as existing buildings, and information security studies on high-rise buildings are also being conducted. However, security system introduction and research are generally performed from the viewpoint of general IT systems and security policies, so there is little consideration of the infrastructure of the building. In particular, the BAS or building infrastructure, is a closed system, unlike typical IT systems, but has unique structural features that accommodate open functions. Insufficient understanding of these system structures and functions when establishing a building security policy makes the information security policies for the BAS vulnerable and increases the likelihood that all of the components of the building will be exposed to malicious cyber-attacks via the BAS. In this paper, we propose an architecture reference model that integrates three different levels of BAS structure (from?) different vendors. The architectures derived from this study and the security characteristics and vulnerabilities at each level will contribute to the establishment of security policies that reflect the characteristics of the BAS and the improvement of the safety management of buildings.

  • The port industry has been actively adopting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, leading to transformations in port infrastructure, such as automated and smart ports. While these changes have improved port efficiency, they have also increased the potential for Cyber Security incidents, including data leaks and disruptions in terminal operations due to ransomware attacks. Recognizing the need to prioritize Cyber Security measures, a study was conducted, focusing on Busan Port's rapidly automating container terminal in South Korea. The results of the Eisenhower Matrix analysis identified legal and regulatory factors as a top priority in the first quadrant, with educational systems, workforce development, network infrastructure, and policy support in the third quadrant. Subsequently, a Borich Needs Analysis revealed that the highest priority was given to legal improvements in security management systems, while the development of Cyber Security professionals ranked lowest. This study provides foundational research for enhancing Cyber Security in domestic container terminals and offers valuable insights into their future direction.

  • Nowadays, email-based targeted attacks using malcode-bearing documents have been steadily increased. To improve the success rate of the attack and avoid anti-viruses, attackers mainly employ zero-day exploits and relevant social engineering techniques. In this paper, we propose an architecture of the email vaccine cloud system to prevent targeted attacks using malcode-bearing documents. The system extracts attached document files from email messages, performs behavior analysis as well as signature-based detection in the virtual machine environment, and completely removes malicious documents from the messages. In the process of behavior analysis, the documents are regarded as malicious ones in cases of creating executable files, launching new processes, accessing critical registry entries, connecting to the Internet. The email vaccine cloud system will help prevent various cyber terrors such as information leakages by preventing email based targeted attacks.
