For the evaluation of the load carrying capacity of the deteriorated PSC I girder bridge in service load state and the verification of the grade to the reinforcement effect of actual bridge strengthened by external prestressing tendons, the field test using vehicles is applied widely. Because this teat was executed in elastic range, the investigation of the characteristics of behavior caused by live load is only available. And it is impossible to estimate load carrying capacity in limit state and nonlinear behavior after that a crack is appeared. In this study, the 27-year-old prestressed concrete girder bridge is used and various load tests are performed, so we evaluate the behavior characteristics of the bridge in service load state and ultimate load state, and estimate the load carrying capacity of bridge. In addition, the artificial damages are induced from cutting internal tendons, and external tendons is added to strengthen it as much as vanished internal tendons. Next we compare the damage state with the strengthening state. In case of the application of external prestressing method to PSC I girder bridge, the present experiment result may decide more exactly the load carrying capacity of actual bridge, the amount for reinforcement, and the standard of quality control etc. at reinforcement work.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of tall type mixtures and turf type mixtures on dry matter yield, botanical composition and quality. The experimental design includes two mixture types : Tall type mixtures; orchardgrass (Potomac) 50+tall fescue (Fawn) 20+ Kentucky bluegrass (Kenblue) 10+red clover (Kenland) 20%) and turf type mixtures; Kentucky bluegrass(Newport) 60%+tall fescue (reboil Jr.) 20+perennial ryegrass (palmer II) 20%. The DM yield was higher obtained in tall type mixture than that of turf type mixture (p<0.05). In the chemical composition, Turf type mixture was higher in crude protein (CP) and dry matter digestibility (DMD), but lower in fibrous compound as NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin than those of tall type mixture (p<0.05). The crude protein dry matter (CPDM) and digestible dry matter (DDM) yield was higher in tall type mixture than turf type mixture (p<0.05). In this experiment, nutritive value of turf type mixture was higher than that of tall type mixture, but CPDM and DDM yield of turf type mixture were lower than that of turf type mixture due to low dry matter yield. On the other hand, turf type mixture was obtained high feed value, and maintaining the various botanical composition on the 13 th cutting frequency condition. therefore, turf type mixture had a utilization possibility under grazing livestock as sheep and milk goats.

Purpose: To determine the utility of sonographically guided percutaneous core needle biopsy to diagnose musculoskeletal soft tissue masses. Methods: A prospective study was performed in 55 patients referred for image-guided needle biopsy of primary or recurrent soft tissue masses and bone lesion or suspected solitary metastasis with extraosseous masses. Tissue samples were obtained with a 14-gauge or 18-gauge cutting needle coupled to an automated biopsy device under local anesthesia and sonographic guidance. Statistical analysis was based on 49 biopsies confirmed by successful clinical treatment (11 cases) or surgical resection (38 cases). Results: An accurate diagnosis was obtained in 47 (97%) of 49 biopsies; sensitivity was 95%, and specificity was 100%. The method did not yield sufficient tissue to establish a diagnosis in 6 cases. Considering all 55 biopsies, high-quality specimens were obtained in 87%. There were no serious complications. Conclusions: Sonographically guided core needle biopsy is accurate and safe, in soft tissue masses and bone tumors with extraosseous masses in the appendicular skeleton. In such patients, the sonographically guided procedure is the most prompt and effective method for obtaining tissue samples.
Comparative study was performed on noodle characteristics among three domestic wheat varieties (Geurumil, Eunpamil and Alchanmil) and imported one (ASW: Australian Standard White). For the noodle-related characteristics, crude protein, ash and gluten contents were measured, and rheological properties of dough, flour color difference, particle size distribution, cooking properties and sensory properties were evaluated. Crude protein content of Geurumil, Eunpamil and Alchanmil flour were 12.8%, 14.2% and 11.2%, respectively, whereas that of ASW flours was 9.1%. Ash content was the highest in Geurumil (0.56%). The yield of patent flour was the highest in Eunpamil (53.4%) among all the varieties. Higher dough stability with farinogram and maximum viscosity with amylogram were shown in Eunpamil and Alchanmil than those of ASW. The cutting force of cooked noodle from ASW was the lowest maximum, that was measured by texture analyzer. Fairly good color and sensory scores were obtained in cooked noodle of Alchanmil. Studies of noodle-related characteristics indicated that domestic Eunpamil was higher in protein content and flour yield, and Alchanmil was higher dough stability and color, when compared to those of imported ASW. Alchanmil and ASW had good scores in sensory evaluation, especially appearance and color.

This research aims to evaluate the concept of eco-efficient water infrastructure and provides a list of case studies in order to help understand the applicability of eco-efficient water infrastructure to Asia and the Pacific. A set of indicators have been explored to assess eco-efficiency in water infrastructure for the region on a micro and macro scale. The core idea of eco-efficiency, 'more value with less impact (on the environment)', has proven to be applicable in management of water infrastructure. The fundamental elements in eco-efficient water infrastructure should encompass physical infrastructure and non-physical infrastructure, which is more needed particularly in Asian countries. The case studies have demonstrated the applicability of the concept of eco-efficient water infrastructure. The Republic of Korea has provided the case of the eco-friendly approaches to enhance dam management and its innovative solutions how to use water more efficiently through state-of-art technologies. The experiences of Singapore are some of the best evidence to establish eco-efficient water infrastructure, for instance, the NEWater project via application of cutting edge technologies (recycled water) and institutional reform in water tariff systems to conserve water as well as enhance water quality. A list of indicators to assess eco-efficiency in water infrastructure have been discussed, and the research presents a myriad of project cases which are good to represent eco-efficiency in water infrastructure, including multipurpose small dams, customized flood defense systems, eco-efficient ground water use, and eco-efficient desalination plants. The study has presented numerous indicators in five different categories: 1) the status of water availability and infrastructure; 2) production and consumption patterns of freshwater; 3) agricultural products and sources of environmental loads; 4) damages from water-caused natural disaster; and 5) urban water supply and sanitation. There are challenges as well as benefits in such indicators, since the indicators should be applied very carefully in accordance with specific socio-economic, political and policy contexts in different countries in Asia and the Pacific Region. The key to success of establishment of eco-efficient water infrastructure in Asia primarily depends on the extent to which each country is committed to balancing its development of physical as well as non-physical water infrastructure. Particularly, it is imperative for Asian countries to transform its policy focus from physical infrastructure to non-physical infrastructure. Such shift will help lead to implementation of sustainable in Asian countries.
Objectives : Specifications by Processing Methods of Liriope platyphylla (LP) was not established in korea. We carried out method study for manufacture of LP. Above all, LP were purchased and were processed at four kinds. First group had hearts of swelling roots, not cut bodies(LP-A). Second group had not hearts of swelling roots, not cut bodies(LP-B). Third group had hearts of swelling roots, cut bodies(LP-C). Forth group had an aggregate of hearts of swelling roots(LP-D). Methods : We has gained losses on drying, contents of ethanol-soluble extracts, contents of water-soluble extracts and contents of spicatoside A. Results : 1. Losses on drying of all group were less than 18% that is a standard of chinese pharmacopoeia. 2. Contents of ethanol-soluble extracts at LP-C, LP-D were included more than contents of those in the other groups in significance levels. 3. Contents of water-soluble extracts at LP-A, LP-C were included more than contents of those in the other groups in significance levels. 4. Contents of spicatoside A in LP-B were included more than content of spicatoside A in the other groups in significance levels. Resultingly, standards of LP in korea were proposed compatible proposals suggested as below. 1. Losses on drying of LP were less than 15% that is less than that of chinese pharmacopoeia. 2. Form to boil in water must be cutting body with heart of swelling root. 3. Because there is no content of spicatoside A in heart of swelling root, it is not suited to purpose a index component. Conclusions : The subjects of loss on drying and form of LP to boil in water must be contained in korean pharmacopoeia. Moreover, because of much valuable LP in food and medicine, it is urgently required aspect of index component such as spicatoside B, spicatoside C, flavonoid, polysaccharide having medical actions and so on.
This study was carried out to improve an artificial culture techniques and antioxidative activity of the crude extract isolated from sclerotia of Poria cocos(Fr.) Wolf. In the test of different spawns and inoculation method, the sclerotia formation, number of sclerotia and production yield were excellent in the both sides inoculation method of log spawn, whereas the both side inoculation method of sawdust spawn was poor in sclerotia formation and yield. The optimal spawn and inoculation method for the quality and productivity of P. cocos was in the order of log spawn (both sides inoculation > log spawn(cutting section inoculation) > sclerotia (both sides inoculation) > sawdust spawn (both sides inoculation). The physiological activity substance, crude extract content of P. cocos NIAST 13007 was about 83%. As the concentration of crude extracts increased, the relative viscosity tended to be increased. However, as the concentration of sodium chloride increased, the relative viscosity did not affected. In antioxidative activities, electron donating ability (EDA) of P. cocos was about 10% of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value was similar to that of the vitamin C, however the peroxide value (POV) was lower than those of BHT and vitamin C.

This study is aimed to investigate microbiological contamination of Angelica gigas Nakai. A total of 111 samples including root, soil, and irrigation water were collected from farms and market to detect aerobic bacteria, Bacillus cereus, coliform, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes,. Salmonella spp., and Staphylococcus aureus. The contaminations of aerobic bacteria, coliform, and Bacillus cereus in the root during cultivation were found 6.71 log CFU $g^{-1}$, 4.13 log CFU $g^{-1}$, and 3.54 log CFU $g^{-1}$, respectively. The contamination of coliform and B. cereus were detected in all steps from harvesting to processing, with the highest count recorded from the cutting step. In marketing, the contaminations of aerobic bacterial, coliform, and B. cereus were 5.5~6.0 log CFU $g^{-1}$, 2.4~2.6 log CFU $g^{-1}$, and 3.5~4.0 log CFU $g^{-1}$, respectively. Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp, and Staphylococcus aureus were not detected in any of samples. This result indicated that hygienic soil management and post harvest management should be performed to reduce the contamination of hazard microorganisms and to produce safe agro-products.
