  • Most tunnel lining material which has been used in the domestic is a concrete. But many problems as the construction period, the cost, and the crack occurrence for the design, construction, and management were happened in the concrete lining. For this reason, many research institutes like the Korea Highway Corporation recognize the necessity of an alternate material development and grow on the interest for that. So in this study, the seismic behaviour characteristics for the application of the Corrugated Steel Plate Lining in cut-and-cover tunnel are evaluated as several conditions for the backfill height, the cutting slope, and the relative density of backfill soil are changed. The compressive stress which is calculated in the Corrugated Steel Plate Lining by the seismic load is decreased as the backfill height increases and the cut slope grows gentle. Also, the moment shows the tendency of decrease according to the increase of the backfill height. But in the case of the relative density of the backfill soil is small, the moment increases according to the increase of the backfill height and affects the dynamic behaviour characteristic. So it is considered that the relative density of the backfill soil is also the important point. As the result in analyzing the seismic response characteristics of the reinforcement spacing of the Corrugated Steel Plate, the variation in the compressive force is hardly happened, but the moment and the shear force increase on the reinforcement spacing being narrow.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the key factors in designing a three-wheeled two-row soybean reaper (riding type) that is suitable for soybean production, and ensure worker safety by proposing optimal work conditions for the prototype of the designed machine in relation to the slope of the road. Methods: A three-wheeled two-row soybean reaper (riding type) was designed and its prototype was fabricated based on the local soybean-production approach. This approach was considered to be closely related to the prototype-designing of the cutter and the wheel driving system of the reaper. Load distribution on the wheels of the prototype, its minimum turning radius, static lateral overturning angle, tilt angle during driving, and The working and rear overturning (back flip) angle were measured. Based on the gathered information, investigations were conducted regarding optimal work conditions for the prototype. The investigations took into account driving stability and worker safety. Results: The minimum ground clearance of the prototype was 0.5 m. The blade height of the prototype was adjusted such that the cutter was operated in line with the height of the ridges. The load distribution on the prototype's wheels was found to be 1 (front wheel: F): 1.35 (rear-left wheel: RL): 1.43 (rear-right wheel: RR). With the ratio of load distribution between the RL and RR wheels being 1: 1.05, the left-to-right lateral loads were found to be well-balanced. The minimum turning radius of the prototype was 2.0 m. Such a small turning radius was considered to be beneficial for cutting work on small-scale fields. The sliding of the prototype started at $25^{\circ}$, and its lateral overturning started at $39.3^{\circ}$. Further, the critical slope angle for the worker to drive the prototype in the direction of the contour line on an incline was found to be $12.8^{\circ}$, and the safe angle of slope for the cutting was measured to be less than $6^{\circ}$. The critical angle of slope that allowed for work was found to be $10^{\circ}$, at which point the prototype would overturn backward when given impact forces of 1,060 N on its front wheel. Conclusions: It was determined that farmers using the prototype would be able to work safely in most soybean production areas, provided that they complied with safe working conditions during driving and cutting.

  • It has been known that Golf course could impose negative impacts on water-ecosystem if pollutant-laden runoff is not treated well. It is important to control non-point source and re-use treated wastewater from the golf course to secure water quality of receiving waterbodies. At golf courses, the rainfall-runoff is affected by various practices to manage grasses. In many hydrological modelings, especially in simple rainfall-runoff modeling, effects on runoff of plant growth and cutting are not considered. In the study, the water erosion prediction project (WEPP), capable of simulating plant growth and various management, was evaluated for its runoff prediction from golf course under grass cutting and irrigation. The %Difference, $R^2$ and the NSE for runoff comparisons were 1.15%, 0.93 and 0.92 for calibration, and 18.12%, 0.82 and 0.88 for validation period, respectively. In grass cutting scenario, grass height was managed to be 18~25 mm. The estimated runoff was decreased by 27%. The difference in estimated total runoff was 11.8% depending on irrigation. As shown in this study, if grass management and irrigation are well-controlled, water quality of downstream areas could be obtained.

  • Recently, the near surface mounted (NSM) FRP strengthening technique has been actively applied to deteriorated concrete structures for rehabilitation purposes. However, the use of this conventional NSM technique could be restricted due to the insufficient height or strength of the concrete cover. In this study, the stirrup-Cutting Near Surface Mounted(CNSM) technique was considered as an alternative, whereby NSM strips are placed at a deeper level, namely at the level of the main steel reinforcement. A flexural test of a concrete beam strengthened with CNSM technique was performed and the results were then compared to those for a concrete beam strengthened by the conventional NSM technique. The embedment length of the CFRP strips was varied in order to increase the effect of the anchoring depth of the NSM and CNSM CFRP strips in the beam specimens. From the results of the test, the beam with the CNSM CFRP strip showed typical structural behavior similar to that of the beam with the NSM CFRP strip. Moreover, there was no apparent structural degradation resulting from the stirrup partial-cutting. Consequently, the CNSM strengthening technique can be suitably utilized for extensively damaged concrete structures where it is difficult to apply the conventional NSM technique.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of the first harvesting times and regrowth periods after the fist harvest on grass regrowth, dry matter (DM) yield and botanical composition in pasture mixtures during 1987 and 1988. For the test, a split plot design with 3 replications was treated with 3 different first harvesting times (vegetative, stem elongation and heading stage) and 3 different regrowth periods (20, 30 and 40 days) after first harvest. Although the total DM yield of grasses was decreased slightly with earlier cutting, the regrowth DM yield and the regrowth plant height was increased significantly with earlier cutting (p < 0.05). Also, the 30 days of regrowth periods was contributed greatly to the regrowth and the DM yield. The percentage of legumes Tmainly red clover) in botanical composition was increased with later initial harvest anrl longer regrowth period after first harvest. Based on the results, it is suggested that good grass regrowth and seasonal distribution could be achieved by the earlier harvest at fist and the regrowth period of 30 days after first harvest in spring.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between different soccer cleat designs and knee joint moments. Twelve physically active males (mean(SD): age: 26.4(6.2)yrs; height: 176.4(4.1)cm; mass: 74.0 (7.4)kg) were recruited Kinematic and force plate data were collected for all subjects during normal running and a $45^{\circ}$ cutting maneuver, called a v-cut. Both motions were performed at $4.0{\pm}0.2\;m/s$ on infilled artificial turf with three pairs of soccer cleats of different sole plate designs, and one pair of neutral running shoes. Inverse dynamics were used to calculate three dimensional knee joint moments, with repeated measures ANOVA and post hoc paired Student's t-test used to determine significance between shoe conditions. Significant differences were found in the extension moments of the knee for running trials, and for external rotation and adduction moments in the v-cutting trials. Knee moments were greater in v-cut than running, and the traditional soccer cleats (Copa Mondial and World Cup) tended to result in greater knee moments than the Nova runner or TRX soccer cleat. Cleat design was found to influence 3-dimensional knee moments in a v-cut maneuver. In the translational traction test, there were significant differences between all conditions. In the rotational traction test, friction with soccer shoes were greater than friction with running shoes. However, no differences were found between soccer shoes. Higher moments may lead to increased loads and stresses on knee joint structures, and thus, greater injury rates.

  • The tunnel type spillways is under construction to increasing water reservoir capacity in Dae-am dam. Cutting-slope adjacent to outlet of spillways had been originally designed to be 63 degrees and about 65m in height. Examination is carried out in preceding construction that it is caused to some problems possibility which of machine for slope cutting couldn't approach to the site, blasting for cutting slope might have negative influence on highway and roads nearby, and fine view along the Tae-hwa river would be eliminated. In order to establish stability of tunnel and more friendly natural environment that we are carry out detailed geological surface survey and analysis of slope stability. So, we are design and construct for tunnel excavation with possible method that it is keep up natural slope. The result of survey and analysis that natural slope was divided 3 zone(A, B, C zone). In A and B zone, in first removed floating rock, high tensile tension net is install that it prevent of release and falling of rock, in order to security during under working. In addition to, pre-stressed rock anchor is install purpose of security during tunnel excavation because of fault zone near vertical developed above excavation level. Zone C is relatively good condition of ground, design is only carry out random rock bolt. All zone are designed and constructed drainage hole for groundwater and surface water is easily drain. Desinged slpoe is harmony with near natural environment. Successfully, construction is completed.

  • This study was carried out to develop a belt pick-up type one-row soybean cutter, using physical properties and production conditions of soybeans. The prototype soybean cutter consisted of 4 parts: cutting part, conveying part, collecting part, and travelling part. The prototype soybean cutter was designed to cut soybeans planted with a row spacing of 600 mm, and at a height of 30 mm from the bed bottom using a disk saw. Through various trials with different peripheral velocities of the disk saw and forward speed of the cutter, determined ranges of the peripheral velocity of the disk saw cutting soybeans stems were greater than 18.3 m/s. Spacing between pick-up belts (clearance) was in a range of 60~90 mm so that soybeans could be picked at heights greater than 25 cm, and the size and shape of the pick-up belt were determined the conventional manual harvesting method. The optimal ratio between the forward speed of cutter and the peripheral speed of pick-up belts were from 1 to 1.2 by theoretical analysis. the pick-up belts had a $35^{\circ}$ of tilted angle and $90^{\circ}$ of twisted angle to pick up soybeans safely from the plant input to the lower end of the belts and convey soybeans to the upper end of belts nearby a container. The soybeans at the rear container were dropped down on the soybean row with an interval. The effective field capacity of the prototype soybean cutter was 0.136 ha/h, reducing the working hour by 92% when compared with the manual cutting.
