This work was intended to study the cutting graph and vibratory phenomina of a newly developed mower which may be suitable for mowing agricultural product having large and hard stems like corn and sugar beet. The system consists of cutter-bar having Curvilinear-translation motion, which attached to drag-crank mechanism. The motion of equation developed for experimental vibratory system which equipped with the cutter-bar system was established and the parameters defining the system's vibratory motion were experimentally determined. The optimum balancing weight for the cutter-bar am vibratory characteristics of the cutter-bar for various counterweight were analyzed to provide the design and operational conditions. The results of the study are summarized as follows; (1) The cutting graph by the new cutter-bar system depends upon the magnitude of ratio of forward travel(Vm) to crank speed (R$\omega$); The cutting pitch for Vm/R$\omega$ 1 (whole cycle cutting) and Vm/R$\omega$=2/$\pi$ (a half cycle cutting) are 2$\pi$ Vm and 4R, respectively. (2) The experimental vibratory system had been proved to function adequately so that it can be used in determining the required counterweight to minimize the vibratory motion of cutter-bar. (3) Experimentally determined counterweight to give the least vibratory motion was a little greater than the theoretically determined one. With the optimum counterweight it was possible to reduce up to about 87% of the amplitude without counterweight, which may be considered to be within safe operational region. (4) To avoid the actual operation of the cutter-bar at resonance which occured in low frequency ratio, it was considered that the rotational speed of the crank for a specific design of mower should be determined separately in connection with the desired cutting graph.
The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement system of cutter conditions for combine header diagnosis during rice harvesting. A load cell was installed at the locker-arm to measure load fluctuation and an acceleration senor was used to monitor vibration signal of cutter bar. The data were collected from a paddy field during harvesting. The tests were conducted with a normal cutter, a loosened cutter, a broken cutter, and a worn-out connecter pin at the field. The vibration signals converted by FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation), filtered, and normalized. The load data and peak values of vibration signals in four different frequency ranges were used to determine the cutting operation and the cutter conditions of combine. The multiple comparison tests showed that the load data and peak values of vibration signals were important to monitor the cutting operation and cutter conditions of combine header.

At Wire Rod Mill Plant, wire is made of the billet produced at continuous casting machine, or rolled bloom produced at billeting mill, and the product can be classified of wire of 5.5${\Phi}$ and bar in coil of 14∼42${\Phi}$ in diameter(bar in coil will be referred to as coil as below). At present, wire is produced at POSCO No.1, 2, 3 WRM, coil at garret line of No. 2 WRM. Head and tail of coil are properly cut and treated to scrap to fulfill the customer's satisfaction. This above cutting is done off line, and small size coil can be cut manually with clipper, large size coil with hydraulic cutter. Nowadays, it is being investigated to cut automatically in line with trimming shear after passing mill stand. At the moment, Because the coil produced at the garret line of No.2 WRM is hot 400∼600$^{\circ}C$ and trimming is done manually with cutter, there are always interference from manual operation or safety problem of bad working condition. Not only because of the diversity of the coil size 14∼42${\Phi}$ in diameter, but because of the rolling speed 2.5∼22m/sec, it is required to be equipped with several trimming shear. But this can be accomplished with only one shear installed proper place at this paper.
This study was conducted to investigate the cutting mechanism of the reciprocating knife of combine harvester. The cutting operation of reciprocating knife was demonstrated through the cutting pattern diagram which was drawn by computer graphics. Various kinds and dimensions of standard-type reciprocating knives were analyzed by the developed program. The results are summarized as follows : (1) For the 50mm standard reciprocating knife, the bunching area and the maximum stalk-deflection were decreased rapidly according to the increase of cutting velocity ratio by 1.0 and decreased very slowly over this ratio. But, the secondary cut was occurred at ratio of 1.0 and increased rapidly over this ratio. (2) The 76mm standard knife showed better cutting mechanism than the 50mm, in two respects : the larger cutting area per one stroke and the lower revolutional speed of crank shaft for the same cutting velocity. (3) In respect to the bunching area and the secondary cutting length, the adequate height of 50mm standard reciprocating knife was 45~50mm. (4) In order to maintain the proper cutting mechanism, the adequate cutting velocity at forward speed of 0.5㎧ to 1.2m/s was from 0.4m/s to 1.2m/s for the standard knife.
This study was conducted to investigate the cutting mechanism of reciprocating knife of combine harvester. The cutting operation of reciprocating knife with the arrangement of the low-cutting and the double-cutting was demonstrated through cutting pattern diagram which was drawn by computer graphics. Various kinds and dimensions of reciprocating knives were analyzed using the developed program. The results are summarized as follows (1) The low-cutting type reciprocating knife was represented similar cutting characteristics to the standard type, but the maximum stalk-deflection was decreased as 1/2 level of the standard type. And the first ledger plate should be designed shorter than the second ledger plate. (2) The bunching area and the maximum stalk-deflection for the double cutting knife almost were not changed since cutting velocity ratio of 0.6, but the secondary cut were occurred at ratio of 0.8 and increased rapidly over these ratio. (3) The double cutting knife was recommended for the high speed combine, because its bunching area and the maximum stalk-deflection were decreased as 1/2 level of the standard type. (4) In order to maintain the proper cutting mechanism characterized by the bunching area, the maximum stalk-deflection and the secondary cutting length etc., the adequate cutting velocity at forward speed of 0.5㎧ to 1.2㎧ was from 0.3㎧ to 0.96㎧ for the double cutting knives.

This paper is a study to improve the efficiency of mixing technology in the shield TBM chamber. Currently, the number of construction cases using the TBM method is increasing in Korea. According to the increasing use of TBM method, research on TBM method such as Disc Cutter, Cutter bit, and Segment also shows an increasing trend. However, there is little research on the mixing efficiency in chamber and chamber. In order to improve the smooth soil treatment and the behavior of the excavated soil, a study was conducted on the change of the mixing efficiency according to the effective mixing bar arrangement in the chamber. In the scale model experiment, the ground was composed using plastic materials of different colors for ease of identification. In addition, the mixing bar arrangement was different and classified into 4 cases, and the particle size distribution was classified into single particle size and multiple particle size, and the experiment was conducted with a total of 8 cases. The rotation speed of the cutter head of all cases was the same as 5 RPM, and the experiment time was also carried out in the same condition, 1 minute and 30 seconds. In order to check the mixing efficiency, samples at the upper, middle (left or right), and lower positions of each case were collected and analyzed. As a result of the scaled-down model experiment, the mixing efficiency of Case 4 and Case 4-1 increased compared to Case 1 and Case 1-1, which are actually used. Accordingly, it is expected that the mixing efficiency can be increased by changing the arrangement of the mixing bar in the chamber, and it is considered to be effective in saving air as the mixing efficiency increases. Therefore, this study is considered to be an important indicator for the use of shield TBM in Korea.
This study is performed in order to provide the basic information needed for the development of cutting blade for combine. By comparing the developed cutting blade of which were made groove of the surface with the common cutting blade. Friction force and cutting resistance by the cutter bar speed ratio and moisture content of rice stalk were shown as follows: 1. The friction force of the developed cutting blade is shown at the average value $0.12kg{\cdot}m$ as 25% lower than one of the common blade at the average value $0.16kg{\cdot}m$. 2. The cutting resistance of the developed cutting blade is shown as respectively 12%, 15% and 20% lower than one of the common blade at the moisture content of rice stalk of 14.2%, 55.3% and 84.2%. 3. The cutting resistance of cutting blade by two different driving types is shown that the one by double driving type is $0.2kg{\cdot}m$, and the one by single driving type is $0.24kg{\cdot}m$. 4. Optimum cutter bar speed ratio of cutting blade is shown as different according to the moisture content of rice stalk.

The object of this experimental and simulation study is to find out heated temperature and range from the Oxy-acetylene cutting point of reinforcing bars (D10, D13, D16, D19, D22, D25 for each cases of SD3O and SD40) in room temperature ($20{\sim}22^{\circ}C$). This cutting is under the condition that a skilled worker cut one bar per a time. The results are these. 1. The temperature of the point 1 of reinforcing bars cut with Oxy-acetylene cutter is over 700$^{\circ}C$ under 1000$^{\circ}C$, but the temperature of the point 2 of reinforcing bars cut with Oxy-acetylene cutter is under 200$^{\circ}C$ 2. The temperature of the point that is apart 2cm from Oxy-acetylene cutting point is not over 200$^{\circ}C$, so reinforcing bars has not transform to be brittle. The results of simulation for temperatures of the each point apart from Oxy-acetylene cutting point is similar to upper experimental results.
This study was conducted to investigate experimentally the basic characteristics of the torque of the cutterbar driving shaft as the double-knife was used instead of the conventional standard single-knife type. A new design for inclined setting of the cutterbar relative to the direction perpendicular to combine harvester movement was investigated to test a possible reduction of concentrated load caused by the simultaneous cutting of many rows. It was evaluated that the maximum torque and mean total power of the driving shaft due to the cutting resistance of the rice straw were largely depended upon the rotational shaft-speed and straw feeding rate, but were resepectively 1.1~2.3 and 1.15~1.34 times higher compared to those while idling. It was also proved that the inclined setting of the cutterbar could save a considerable amount of energy required for its driving shaft.
A rapeseed reaping equipment attachable to a conventional combine was developed in order to harvest rapeseed for bio-diesel materials. This study was carried out to measure the harvest feasibility of a prototype combine in rapeseed fields. Grain, stem and pod flow rate, grain qualities (whole kernel, damaged kernel, unhulled kernel, material-other-than-grain) and grain loss rates (header, threshing, separation) were investigated in each field test. As the result of the fold test, the average grain flow rates of SUNMANG and MS varieties showed 1,430 kg/h and 2,038 kg/h, respectively. The average stem and pod flow rates showed 3,443 kg/h and 6,596 kg/h, respectively. In each working speed, the average whole kernel rate and the material-other-than-grain showed 99.9% and below 0.08%, respectively. In the average grain loss, the rates showed 5.66% in case of SUNMANG and 5.94% in MS. Header loss was higher than other parts for SUNMANG. However, threshing loss was relatively higher than other parts for MS. Header loss rate due to side cutter knifes, however, was not so high when compared with a grain loss due to the cutter bar. Effective field capacity and field efficiency of the prototype combine showed 0.389 ha/h and 44%, respectively. Comparison of customary combine with the prototype combine through field test demonstrated that the header loss was reduced by 69.3% when the prototype combine was used.
