  • The meters for low voltage customer presently being used in Korea are all mechanical type and there is strict limitation on applying various customized tariff structure. Recently low voltage solid state meter is under development by several makers of the watt hour meter in Korea. Also, KEPCO has a plan to use the solid state meter for low voltage customer to reduce peak power. So, this paper suggests the needed function of low voltage solid state meter considering electricity tariff policy.

  • Distribution line fault has been reduced gradually by the efforts on improving the quality of electrical materials and distribution system maintenance. However faults caused by medium voltage customers have been increased gradually even though we have done many efforts. The problem is that we don't know which customer will cause the fault. This paper presents the concept to find these customers using data mining techniques, which is based on accumulated fault records of medium voltage customers in the past. It also suggests the prediction model construction of medium voltage customers causing distribution line fault and methods to enhance the reliability of distribution system. We expect that we can effectively reduce faults resulted from medium voltage customers, which is 30% of total faults.

  • Change of supply voltage, customer load, output of distributed generation, etc cause voltage change in distribution system. OLTC and SVR are usually used to supply normal voltage at customer. But usage of these devices is inefficient and uneconomical in certain circumstances. To solve this problem, new pole transformer which has automatic tap changer is developed. The transformer changes tap when voltage changes. And it has latch switch and reactor for supplying power without outage. To verify normal operation of tap changer, test is conducted. SVR and 50kVA load is used for test.

  • This paper is about the new distribution system of the electric customer inside. The power loss in the distribution system of the customer is disregarded and rarely managed so for. But, economically, this loss is not small quantity to ignore. So, in this paper, we suggest that the new distribution system of the electric customer inside by simply changing the locations of power transformer and other power facilities which is located inside of the customer. And we also show that the power loss is decreased with this systematic changing by approximated calculation.

  • In order to maintain customer voltages within allowable limit($220{\pm}13V$) as much as possible, tap operation strategy of SVR(Step Voltage Regulator) installed in distribution system is very important, considering the scheduled delay time(30 sec) of SVR. However, the compensation of BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) during the delay time of SVR is being required because the customer voltages in distribution system interconnected with PV(Photovoltaic) system have a difficultly to be kept within allowable limit. Therefore, this paper presents the optimal voltage stabilization method in distribution system by using coordination operation algorithm between BESS and SVR. It is confirmed that customer voltage in distribution system can be maintained within allowable limit($220{\pm}13V$).

  • Power quality refers to voltage quality and current quality. Voltage quality means supply reliance such as voltage sag, voltage swell. and short-time interruption. Current quality is related to power factor, harmonic distortion, negative-sequence and zero-sequence current. We fabricated Customer STATCOM to improve current quality such as reactive power, harmonic distortion, and load imbalance. In this paper. We summarize the spec, of STATCOM. its hardware configuration, and control system.

  • Transient in an electrical system are generated by lightning and switching. This paper presents analysis of switching and lightning surge, and means of limiting the voltage magnification transient for high voltage power systems by using EDSA's EMTAP software package. One means of limiting the voltage magnification transient is to convert the end-user power factor correction banks to harmonic filters. An inductance in series with the power factor correction bank was used to decrease the transient voltage at the customer bus to acceptable levees. The interception of the impulse from the phase wire is fairly straight forward by properly installed surge arresters. The simulation shows that the addition of the surge arrester at the customer location can achieve a substantial reduction of the transient magnitude.

  • In this paper, the effects of superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) installed in power distribution system on reliability are evaluated and analyzed. The fault current will be decreased in power distribution system with SFCL because of the increased impedance of SFCL. The decreased fault current will improve the voltage drop of the bus of substation. The voltage drop is an important factor of power distribution system reliability. In this paper, improvement of reliability worth is analyzed when SFCLs are installed at the starting point in power distribution system. First, resistor-type SFCL model is used in PSCAD/EMTDC. Next, typical power distribution system is modeled. Finally, when the SFCLs with impedance 0.5 [${\Omega}$] are installed in feeder, power distribution system reliability is evaluated. Also, the improvement effect of reliability worth including the effect of voltage sag is analyzed using customer interruption cost according to whether or not SFCL is installed.

  • In this paper, It was evaluated that the customer's effects of momentary voltage sag in power distribution system considering reclosing interval. Above all, power quality problems were discussed widely, various international standards about power quality were compared to each other. after the continuous voltage sag waves of power distribution system on fault were induced, the experimentation about voltage sag for critical load was performed using source simulator. The results of experimentation were displayed as the form of 2 and 3-dimensional CBEMA Curve.
