For the products and services which have an impact on everyday life, online reviews and recommendations can play a significant role in consumer decision-making processes. Thus, to better serve their customers, online firms are required to build online-centric marketing strategies. Especially, it is essential to define core value of customers based on the online customer reviews and to propose these values to their customers. This study discovers specific perceived values of customers in regard to a certain product and service, using online customer reviews and proposes a customer value proposition methodology which enables online firms to develop more effective marketing strategies. In order to discover customers value, the methodology employs a text-mining technology, which combines a sentiment analysis and topic modeling. By the methodology, customer emotions and value factors can be more clearly defined. It is expected that online firms can better identify value elements of their respective customers, provide appropriate value propositions, and thus gain sustainable competitive advantage.

  • Social commerce is a subset of e-commerce that involves using social media, and user contributions to assist in the online buying and selling of products and services. Given the rapid growth of social commerce sites such as Groupon, Ticketmonster, and Coupang, it has become critical to understand customer purchasing decision-making processes in the social commerce environment. This study developed a theoretical model to examine the role of social commerce site's stickiness in customers' repurchasing decision processes. This study identifies price attribute, variety of selection, shopping enjoyment, and anger as the key factors of social commerce site's stickiness. Data collected from 164 users who had more purchasing experiences with social commerce for more than 7 months were empirically tested against the research model. The analysis results indicate that social commerce site's stickiness plays an important role in enhancing customer's purchasing behavior. Moreover, price attribute and shopping enjoyment significantly influence social commerce site's stickiness, whereas anger does not significantly affect consumer purchasing decision-making processes. However, contrary to our expectation, variety of selection negatively influences social commerce site's stickiness. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are described.

  • Tour products have been recognized as a perishable asset. For tour operation companies (TOCs), improving profitability is a core decision problem for their business. Since package tour products, typical products of TOCs, are perishable after the tour was departed, TOCs have been tried to increase their sales before the departure date with various marketing strategies including price discounts. The pricing problem for perishable assets have been studied in Revenue Management for a long time. However, it is hard to find a research on pricing decisions for tour products. In this paper, we focus on a pricing problem for tour products. In particular, we will consider the pricing scheme with customer preference values on purchasing conditions. With conjoint analysis, we can use the part-worth value as a preference value for each level of purchasing conditions. To construct various discount prices, we use an enumeration method and suggest a mathematical optimization model. With experimental analysis for a sample tour package, we will show that our pricing process is very helpful for designing customer-oriented pricing decision.
