한국의 심장혈관수술 현황 (Cardiovascular Surgery in Korea)

  • Over the past 4 decades after World War II a great deal of data and clinical experiences have been accumulated relating to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases in Korea. Clinical data on cardiovascular surgical cases performed in all 22 hospitals for open heart surgery in Korea was collected from it`s starting up to December 1984. The first recorded open heart surgery for a young adult atrial septal defect was performed by Young Kyoon Lee, M.D. on August 7, 1959, Seoul National University Hospital, Korea. And, some scattered reports on cardiovascular surgical cases in it`s early period have changed recently the number of hospitals for open heart surgery and clinical cases enormously in total amount of 13, 100 cardiovascular operations performed on 12, 990 cases up to December 1984. Of the total 13, 100 cardiovascular operations, congenital cardiovascular anomaly occupied 70%. Of the congenital cases, 6, 580 operations for acyanotic group [operative mortality 4.5%], and 2, 489 operations for cyanotic group [operative mortality 20%]. The incidence of congenital cardiovascular anomaly in order of frequency was ventricular septal defect [29%], patent ductus arteriosus [26%], Tetralogy of Fallot [22%], atrial septal defect [8, 6%], pulmonary valve stenosis [3.0%], and endocardial cushion defect [1.1%]. Of the 3, 412 valvular heart disease cases, which occupied 85% of total 4, 031 acquired cardiovascular disease, individual incidence was in mitral 2, 565 [63.5%], double valve 451 [11.1%], and simple aortic valve 351 [8.7%]. Total number of valve replaced, mechanical and tissue, was 2, 795, and 1, 884 for mitral, 808 for aortic, and 103 for tricuspid in position. Operative mortality for prosthetic valve replacement in total was 9.8%. Remained acquired cardiovascular cases chronic constrictive pericarditis [7.9%], cardiac tumor [1.9%], coronary artery bypass [1.8%], cardiac trauma [1.2%] and less than 1% of thoracic aortic aneurysm. Overall operative mortality for open and non-open cardiovascular surgical operation was 7.7% [congenital acyanotic group 3.2%, congenital cyanotic group 19.4%, and acquired group 7.8%]. In conclusion, present status of cardiovascular surgery in Korea is stabilized with accumulation of clinical cases and experiences, and the future in the field of cardiovascular surgery is promising, especially in the infant cardiac surgery and aortocoronary bypass surgery, with abrupt increase of specialized cardiac centers, trained specialists, and expanding social health insurance.

중국(中國) 명대(明代) 복식(服飾)의 선에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on Seon of the Ming(明) Dynasty Costume)

  • Sean means a narrow cloth added to the edge of costume or cushion. At the beginning, Seon was originated to prevent from fraying warp of cloth or wearing out of cloth. However, with the progress of clothing culture, it is used to satisfy the human desire of decoration and enhance the function of costume. The Seon appeared on costumes of Ming dynasty was simple compared to that of the period preceeding it. The position of Seon was mostly at neckline, end of sleeves and hemline. The width of Seon also was quite monotonous and lacks of varieties. The patterns of Seon were limited to ax, cloud and dragon and cloud and chinese phoenix. And the colors used were also limited to four colors, namely Blue, Red Crimson and Black. In Ming dynasty, the same colors of Seon as those of the costume were more preferably used, while different colors of Seon were used in the previous era. The reason why Seon in Ming dynasty show simple design and use the same colors as those of the costume was due to Ming dynasty's desire to represent and to enhance her castic political structure. The need for class distinction was expressed through the pattern rather than the colors of the costumes themselves. While, in Ming dynasty, Bo(補) which was attached to the breast and the shoulders was used to represent the social class because it could be easily distinguished. In Ming dynasty, to stress Bo and to make Seon less conspicuous, Seon became simple and the colors of Seon were same as those of the costumes avoiding strong contrast in style and colors.

굴삭기 유압실린더의 내구설계 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Durability Design of a Hydraulic Cylinder for an Excavator)

  • 굴삭기 유압실린더는 붐, 암, 버킷과 같은 작업장치를 작동시키는 핵심 부품이다. 일반적으로 유압실린더는 반복적인 고압으로 인해 좌굴이나 피로 파손과 같은 구조적 문제가 종종 발생한다. 따라서, 유압실린더의 내구설계 시 설계수명 동안의 피로, 항복, 좌굴 등에 대한 구조 안전도 평가가 반드시 이루어져야 한다. 내구설계는 기본설계와 상세설계 두 단계로 구성되는데, 기본설계 단계에서는 굴삭기의 작업능력, 작업속도, 작업영역 등을 고려하여 항복과 좌굴 안전도를 만족하도록 로드와 튜브의 주요 치수를 결정한다. 상세설계 단계에서는 로드 노치, 용접부, 튜브 끝단, 글랜드, 오리피스, 쿠션링 등의 상세치수를 주로 피로 안전도 측면에서 결정한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 내구설계의 전반적인 절차와 각 설계 단계에서 내구설계 평가를 위한 해석기법에 대해 기술하였다.

Recent Advances in Artificial Insemination (AI) in Horses: Stallion Management, Processing and Preservation of Semen and Insemination Techniques

  • The efficiency of artificial insemination (AI) for horses remains unsatisfactory. It is mainly because each process of AI causes a detrimental effect on semen quality. To sustain quality of semen properly, several factors including libido of stallions and sperm damage during sperm processing and preservation should be considered. Stallions with decent libido produce a high ratio of sperm to seminal plasma in their ejaculates, which is the ideal semen composition for maintaining sperm quality. Thus, to maximize the fertility rate upon AI, stallions should be appropriately managed to enhance their libido. Seminal plasma should have a positive effect on horse fertility in the case of natural breeding, whereas the effects of seminal plasma on both sperm viability and quality in the context of AI remain controversial. Centrifugation of semen is performed during semen processing to remove seminal plasma and to isolate fine quality sperm from semen. However, the centrifugation process can also result in sperm loss and damage. To solve this problem, several different centrifugation techniques such as Cushion Fluid along with dual and single Androcoll-E$^{TM}$ were developed to minimize loss of sperm and to damage at the bottom of the pellet. Most recently, a new technique without centrifugation was developed with the purpose of separating sperm from semen. AI techniques have been advanced to deliver sperm to optimal region of female reproductive tract at perfect timing. Recombinant equine luteinizing hormone (reLH) and low dose insemination techniques have been developed to maximize both fertility rate and the efficiency of AI. Horse breeders should consider that the entire AI procedure should be optimized for each stallion due to variation in individual horses for a uniformed AI protocol.

Analysis of landing mission phases for robotic exploration on phobos mar's moon

  • Landing phase is one of the crucial and most important phases during robotic aerospace explorations. It concerns the impact of the landing module of a spacecraft on a celestial body. Risks and uncertainties of landing are mainly due to the morphology of the surface, the possible presence of rocks and other obstacles or subsidence. The present work quotes results of a computational analysis direct to investigate the stability during the landing phase of a lander on Phobos, a Mars Moon. The present study makes use of available software tools for the simulation analyses and results processing. Due to the nature of the system under consideration (i.e., large displacements and interaction between several systems), multibody simulations were performed to analyze the lander's behavior after the impact with the celestial body. The landing scenario was chosen as a result of a DOE (Design of Experiments) analysis in terms of lander velocity and position, or ground slope. In order to verify the reliability of the present multibody methodology for this particular aerospace issue, two different software tools were employed in order to emphasize two different ways to simulate the crash-box, a particular component of the system used to cushion the impact. The results show the most important frames of the simulations so as to provide a general idea about how lander behaves in its descent and some trends of the main characteristics of the system. In conclusion, the success of the approach is demonstrated by highlighting that the results (crash-box shortening trend and lander's kinetic energy) are comparable between the two tools and that the stability is ensured.

발목관절 전략 집중 훈련이 노인여성의 근력과 균형능력에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of the Intensive Ankle Joint Strategy Training on the Muscular Strength and Balancing Ability in the Elderly Women)

  • 본 연구는 노인여성들을 대상으로 발목관절 전략 집중 훈련이 근력과 균형능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 65-80세 사이의 여성노인 30명으로 선정하였다. 대조군(n=10)은 아무런 처치를 하지 않았고, 실험군 I(n=10)은 일반적 하지의 운동만 실시하였다. 실험군 II(n=10)는 세라밴드를 이용한 근력운동과 air cushion, unstable board을 이용한 평형운동을 포함한 발목관절 전략 집중 훈련을 실시하였다. 두 실험군은 6주간 주 3회 1시간 훈련을 실시하였다. 6주간 일반적 하지 운동과 발목관절 전략 집중 훈련을 각각 실시한 후 dynamometer, FRT, SEBT를 측정한 결과 대조군과 실험군 I의 변화는 통계학적으로 유의하지 않았지만, 실험군 II의 변화는 유의하게 증가하였다(p<.05). 더불어 노인 낙상 예방 및 치료적 접근에 있어서 발목관절 전략 집중 훈련을 통한 다양한 변인의 추가적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.

자동차 통풍 시트의 유량 평가 (Estimation of Air Flow Rate in Automotive Ventilated Seat)

  • 소비자들의 요구 증가로 고급차종에만 적용하던 통풍 시트는 점차 중소형 차종으로 확대 적용되고 있는 추세이다. 팬에서 발생한 유량이 폼 패드, 필터 폼 및 시트 커버 등을 통과하는 과정에서 많은 손실이 발생하기 때문에, 착좌면에 도달하는 유량의 정확한 해석은 쉽지 않다. 또한 유로 형상이 복잡하여 이의 정확한 모델링 없이는 착좌면에 도달하는 정확한 유량의 해석이 힘들다. 본 연구에서는 팬에서 발생한 유동이 통기 매트와 폼 패드를 통과하였을 때의 유량을 해석하였으며, 해석결과와 실험결과를 비교하였다. 해석에서 유동분산판 내부의 돌기 형상을 보다 정확하게 모델링함으로써, 해석결과와 실험결과의 경향을 정확하게 일치시킬 수 있었다. 유량이 통기성 재료인 패드 폼을 통과하는 과정에서 발생한 손실을 실험으로 측정하여 해석결과를 보정함으로써 해석결과와 실험결과를 정확하게 일치시킬 수 있었다. 다음으로 필터 폼과 시트 커버를 통과하여 착좌면에 도달하는 유량을 실험으로 측정하였다. 착좌면에서의 유량이 많지 않아서, 유량 콘을 사용하여 유량을 측정하였다. 팬에서 발생한 유량의 약 35.7%만이 최종적으로 착좌면에 도달하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Evaluation of Integral Seat Desk used in Universities based on KS/ISO Standard and Questionnaire Survey

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate integral seat desk used in universities through comparison of real dimension values of the desk with KS/ISO standard and questionnaire survey. Background: School furniture that helps students sit comfortably for longer periods of time and allows for better concentration on learning is important. However, seat and desk have been generally designed based on the industry practice rather than user's anthropometry, and seats and desks used in universities of Korea have not been ergonomically evaluated. Method: Real 13 dimensions of the desk used in K University were measured using tape measure and inclinometer, and the dimension values were compared to the KS standard of desk and chair for lecture room (KS G 4210) and ergonomic design principles found in relevant references. Subjective appropriacies and preference for the desk were investigated based on questionnaire survey, in which 121 (male: 91, female: 30) college students participated. Results: Several dimensions for the desk and chair investigated except desk depth and width, leg room width, seat width have not met the KS standard, but all dimensions satisfied ergonomic design principles available in references. The questionnaire survey revealed that appropriacies for desk surface size, seat pan depth, seat pan cushion and backrest curvature were under middle point of 3.0, and that those for the other dimensions showed higher scores exceeding 3.0. Conclusion: The integral seat desk widely used in universities showed some design problems in terms of standards of KS G 2010 and KS G 4210, and ergonomic design principles. Compared to the general desk with separated desk and seat, subjective preference on the integral seat desk was low. Application: This would be used as a valuable guideline when designing or choosing new integral seat desk with high satisfaction of students.

  • The purpose of this study is reviewing and researching the origins of knitwear the history of patterned knits. Aithough historians know little about the origins of knitting many believe it was practiced as early as the 4th century by nomads roaming North Africa. later Arab raders adopted the craft which helped then while away the hours as they traveled across deserts in camel carabans, Its origins lie in the need for close-fitting and elasticated covering for the body in particular the head hand and feet. it first developed in the Mediterranean countries and later in Central and particularly Northern Europe. Early evidence of multicolored knitting is said to date back to the Egyptian Copts of 600-800 A.D. medieval knitting is developed through the Church and monastery. The increasing demand for knitted products already observable in the fourteenth and fifteenth centries and the number of preserved knitted articles increases inexcavated materialos from Europe. The improvements in technique stimulated the developement of the hand knitting industry in the early sixteenth century. The best-known source of production is the guild organization and their mass production consisted of the carpets cushion coverings and other small items for furnishing interiors but mainly of clothing. The demand for knitted goods was such that in the late sixteenth century it was mechanised, The knitting frame invented in 1589 by William Lee English priest was the most perfect machine of this period. The mass production of fully-fashioned and seamless garments in the late nineteenth and twentieth century was dangerously competitve to traditionally woven and sewn cloth in. As fashions changed knitwear has had an almost continuous ruse in public favour and the popularity of sports has encourage the fashion for flexible easy-fitting and absorbent garments.

Carcass Characteristics and Chemical Composition of the Longissimus Muscle of Nellore, Caracu and Holstein-friesian Bulls Finished in a Feedlot

  • This work was carried out to study the carcass characteristics, the chemical composition and the fatty acid profile in Longissimus muscle (LM) of bull breeds Nellore, NEL (11), Caracu, CAR (12) and Holstein-Friesian, HFR (12) finished in a feedlot. The bulls were fed twice a day with corn silage, cotton meal, cracked corn, urea, limestone and mineral salt. NEL and CAR bulls had similar (p>0.05) final weight and hot carcass weight. However, NEL and CAR bulls had higher (p<0.05) final weight and hot carcass weight than HFR bulls. Carcass hot dressing, carcass conformation, cushion thickness, Longissimus muscle area and texture were similar (p>0.05) among NEL, CAR and HFR bulls. NEL and HFR bulls had higher (p<0.05) carcass length in comparison to the CAR breed. Nellore breed had higher (p<0.05) leg length in comparison to CAR and HFR breeds. Leg length was similar (p>0.05) between CAR and HFR breeds. Thickness fat, color and marbling score were lower (p<0.05) in NEL breed in comparison to CAR and HFR breeds. LM of NEL bulls had higher (p<0.05) meat moisture content in comparison to CAR and HFR bulls. In contrast, lipid content was lower (p<0.10) in HFR bulls. LM ash and crude protein contents were similar (p>0.05) among breeds. Saturated fatty acids (SFA) were higher (p<0.10) in HFR animals. Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), n-6, n-3 and PUFA/SFA ratio were similar (p>0.05) among the different breeds. N-6/n-3 ratio was higher (p<0.05) in CAR animals.
