Current-voltage Characteristics of Ceramics with Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistance

  • A current-voltage relation for Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (PTCR) ceramic was derived and compared with the experimental data. The new current-voltage relation was developed based on Heywangs double Schottky barrier model and a bias distribution across the grain boundary. The voltage limitation V < 4${\Phi}$$\sub$b/ suggested by Heywang is no longer necessary in the new expression for the voltage dependence of the resistance. The pulsed voltages were applied to the PTCR ceramic specimen in order to avoid possible temperature variation during the measurement.

  • 이 연구에서는 해석학적 전류-전압 모델을 이용하여 DGMOSFET(Double Gate MOSFET)의 전송특성을 분석하였다. MOSFET의 게이트길이가 100nm이하로 작아지면 산화막두께가 1.5m이하로 작아져야만하고 채널의 도핑이 매우 증가하기 때문에 소자의 문턱전압변화, 누설전류의 증가 등 다양한 문제가 발생하게 된다 이러한 문제를 조사하기 위하여 해석학적 전류-전압 모델을 이용하여 소자의 크기를 변화시키면서 전류-전압특성을 조사하였다 소자의 크기를 변화시키면서 해석학적 전류-전압 모델의 타당성을 조사하였으며 온도 변화에 대한 특성도 비교 분석하였다. 게이트 전압이 2V에서 77K의 전류-전압 특성이 실온에서 보다 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

크랙에 의한 고온 초전도체 테이프의 임계전류 특성변화 (The variation of critical current by the formation of crack in a high-temperature superconducting tape)

  • The variation of critical current by the formation of crack in a high temperature super-conducting tape was studied by experimental and numerical analyses. The current-voltage relation of HTS tape is measured by the four-point measurement method. Numerical analyses are used to solve two dimensional heat conduction equation, considering the temperature distribution. By comparing current-voltage relation of experimental and numerical results, the validity of numerical method is verified.

  • 본 연구에서는 단채널효과를 감소시키기 위하여 개발되고 있는 이중게이트 MOSFET의 게이트인가 전압에 따른 터널링전류의 변화를 관찰하고자한다. 소자가 나노단위까지 스케일링되면서 터널링전류는 매우 중요한 전류요소가 되었으며 특히 차단전류를 구성하고 있는 열방사전류와 비교하면 소자의 크기가 미세해질수록 급격히 증가하는 특성을 보이고 있다. 이를 감소시키기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 본 연구에서는 이에 부응하기 위하여 게이트 인가전압에 따른 터널링전류의 변화를 고찰할 것이다. 게이트전압에 대한 터널링전류 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 전위분포함수를 유도하였으며 전위분포함수와 터널링확률의 관계로부터 차단전류변화를 유도하였다. 이와같이 유도한 전류는 열방사전류와 비교되었으며 터널링전류 감소를 위한 유효게이트전압에 대한 관계를 유도하였다.

Effect of Stress on Current-Voltage Characteristics of ZnO Based Ceramics

  • The chemical composition and uniaxial compressive stress are varied to observe their effect on the current-voltage characteristics of ZnO based ceramics. The variation of chemical composition produces two kinds of ceramics showing ohmic and nonohmic current-voltage characteristics. The current at a fixed voltage increased with the increase of the compressive stress for both ohmic and nonohmic ceramics. Ceramics showing nonohmic behavior exhibit better reversible return of current-voltage curve when the applied compressive stress is removed from the ceramics than those showing ohmic behavior do. We found an appropriate chemical composition showing linear relation between current and stress at a fixed voltage. The ceramic materials with an appropriate chemical composition can be used as a potential sensing material in pressure sensors.

  • The relation between instantaneous active/reactive powers and currents is defined by voltage mapping matrix in three-phase four-wire systems. Control strategies for an active filter without energy storage components are proposed on the basis of mapping matrices. It can compensate for the zero-sequence current, irrespectively of whether or not a zero-sequence voltage exists in a three-phase four-wire system.

  • This paper presents a new PFC control method which replaces a fast line current measurement with a filtered load current measurement. Using the power balance relation between the input and the output of the boost converter. the input current can be described as the function of load current. Thus the PWM signal which effects the switching control of the boost converter is generated using the PFC input voltage, the PFC output voltage and the load current as input variables. By using a filter between the bridge rectifier and a dc-to-dc converter, the input voltage of the dc-to-dc converter is forced to always maintain above zero volt. Then the input current traces a sinewave in phase. The proposed scheme accomplishes a very high power factor and a low harmonic distortion of the line current. The validity of this scheme is demonstrated through simulation.

  • Most of the LV customer have been applied the distribution system of 3-phase four wire system because of its advantage of supplying both of 1-phase & 3-phase loads simultaneously. Due to its structural simplicity, it is more convenient for use rather than the conventional separated scheme. But uneven load distribution or unclean voltage quality has occurred various problems such as de-rating, losses increase and vibration, etc. In this paper, voltage, current and power waveform in the actual fields have measured and analyzed in relation with internationally allowable voltage unbalance limits and compared the current unbalance factor with the load unbalance factor.

Corrosion Rate of Buried Pipeline by Alternating Current

  • An alternating current (AC) corrosion on buried pipeline has been studied using coupon and ER probe. Coupons and ER probes were applied to the sites from high value of AC voltage to low value based on the survey of AC voltages on buried gas transmission pipeline over the country. Parameters such as AC current density of coupon, AC voltage, cathodic protection potential, soil resistivity and frequency were monitored continually. Corrosion induced by AC was observed even under cathodically protected condition that met cathodic protection criterion (; below -850 mV vs. CSE). Corrosion rate was affected mainly not by AC voltage but by both of frequency and AC current density. An experimental corrosion rate relation could be obtained according to effective AC current density, in which AC corrosion rate increased linearly with effective AC current density, and its slope was 0.619 in coupon method and 0.885 in ER probes.

Study on the Dielectric Characteristics of Gaseous Nitrogen for Designing a High Voltage Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

  • The study on the dielectric characteristics of gaseous insulation medium is important for designing current leads of superconducting machines using a sub-cooled liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) cooling method. In a sub-cooled $LN_2$ cooling system, the temperature of gaseous insulation medium surrounding current leads varies from the temperature of coolant to 300 K according to the displacement between the electrode system and the surface of sub-cooled $LN_2$. In this paper, AC withstand voltage experiments on gaseous nitrogen according to temperature are conducted. Also, AC withstand voltage experiments on gaseous nitrogen according to pressure, size of electrode, and gap length between two electrodes are performed. It is found that there is a functional relation between the electrical breakdown voltage and the field utilization factor (${\xi}$). As a result, the empirical formula for estimating an electrical breakdown voltage is deduced by adopting the concept of field utilization factors. It is expected that the experimental results presented in this paper are helpful to design current leads for a high voltage superconducting apparatus such as a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) using a sub-cooled $LN_2$ cooling system.
