This paper proposes new driving methods for designing a driver independent of the current property of organic light emitting diodes (OLED) displays. The proposed methods are the Look-Up Table (LUT) and the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The LUT is used to handle the amount of the current for driving the OLED display panel and the PWM is applied to represent the gray scale on the OLED display panel. Segment and common drivers were implemented using delay circuits to prevent short-circuit current and a DC-DC converter was designed to supply the drivers with a power source. In particular, tile proposed methods are used for the manufacturing of 1.8" 128$\times$128 dot passive matrix OLED display panel. The designed circuit was fabricated using 0.6w, 2-poly, 3-metal, CMOS process and applied to the Personal Communication System (PCS) phone successfully.ully.

High current behaviors of the extended drain n-type metal-oxide-semiconductor field effects transistor (EDNMOSFET) for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection of high voltage operating LDI (LCD Driver IC) chip are analyzed. Both the transmission line pulse (TLP) data and the thermal incorporated 2-dimensional simulation analysis demonstrate a characteristic double snapback phenomenon after triggering of biploar junction transistor (BJT) operation. Also, background doping concentration (BDC) is proven to be a critical factor to affect the high current behavior of the EDNMOS devices. The EDNMOS device with low BDC suffers from strong snapback in the high current region, which results in poor ESD protection performance and high latchup risk. However, the strong snapback can be avoided in the EDNMOS device with high BDC. This implies that both the good ESD protection performance and the latchup immunity can be realized in terms of the EDNMOS by properly controlling its BDC.

In the technique of Q-switching, very fast electronically controlled optical shutters can be made by using the electro-optic effect in crystals or liquids. The driver for the Pockels cell must be a high-speed, high-voltage switch which also must deliver a sizeable current. Common switching techniques include the use of vacuum tubes, cold cathode tubes, thyratrons, SCRs, and avalanche transistors. Semiconductor devices such as SCRs, avalanche transistors, and MOSFETs have been successfully employed to drive Pockels cell Q-switch. In this study, a simple driver for the Pockels cell Q-switch was developed by using SCRs, pulse transformer and TTL ICs. The Pockels cell Q-switch which was operated by this driver was employed in pulsed Nd:YAG laser system to investigate the operating characteristics of this Q-switch. And we have investigated the output characteristics of this Q-switch as a function of the Q-switch delay time to Xe flashlamp current on.

We report on a diode-laser-pumped mode-locked Yb:KGW laser system, which delivers ultrashort pulses down to 89 fs at a repetition rate of 63 MHz, with an average power of up to 5.6 W. A fiber-coupled diode laser at 981 nm, operated with a compact driver, is used to optically pump the gain crystal via an off-axis parabolic mirror. A semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror is used to initiate the pulsed operation. Laser characteristics such as the pulse duration, spectrum bandwidth, and output power are investigated by varying the intracavity dispersions via changing the number of bounces between negative-dispersive mirrors within the cavity. Short pulses with a duration of 89 fs, a center wavelength of 1,027 nm, and 3.6 W of output power are produced at a group-velocity dispersion (GVD) of -3,300 fs2. As the negative GVD increases, the pulse duration lengthens but the output power at the single-pulse condition can be enhanced, reaching 5.6 W at a GVD of -6,600 fs2. Because of pulse broadening at high negative GVDs, the highest peak intensity is achievable at a moderate GVD with our system.
This paper proposes a hybrid LED driving circuit and its control method for extension of the color gamut of LED. The proposed hybrid LED driving circuit provides the constant current by switching regulation in the high current and by linear regulation in the low current through LED. Furthermore, the magnitudes of the high current and low current were controlled by CC(Continuous Current) control method and PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control method, respectively. We experimentally confirmed that the current through RGB LED is linearly controlled to 2% maximum current ratio by varying PWM in the proposed driving circuit and control method. As a result of the measurement of the output light color in CIE1976 chromaticity coordinates, we confirmed that the color, which not be expressed by the existing method, uniformly expressed. We confirmed that the color, which can not be expressed by the existing method, was uniformly output and verified that the color gamut was expanded by the low current controlled by the proposed driving circuit and control method.

A high speed serial link transmitter using multi-level signaling is proposed. To achieve high data rate m high speed serial link, 4-pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) is used. By transmitting 2 bit data in each symbol time, high speed data transmission, two times than binary signaling, is achieved. The transmitter transmits current-mode output instead of voltage-mode output Current-mode output is much faster than voltage-mode output, so higher data transmission is available by increasing switching speed of driver. $2^5-1$ pseudo-random bit sequence (PRBS) generator is contained to perform built-in self test (BIST). The 4-PAM transmitter is designed in Dongbu HiTek $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and achieves 8 Gb/s, 160 mV of eye height with 1.8 V supply voltage. The transmitter consumes only 98 mW for 8 Gb/s transmission.
FDE panel was successfully fabricated through the integration of a 0.7" diagonal Si-based Mo-tip FEA with 25${\times}$25 pixels, Y2O3:Eu or ZnO:Zn phosphor screen, and vacuum sealing through an exhausting glass tube, including a getter. The panel system was driven by an external driver circuit having pulse width modulation(PWM) driving scheme. Before character imaging, it was stabilized through tip aging by slowly increasing a pulse-mode emission current and phosphor aging by a coulombic charging process. After aging, luminescent characteristics such as emission uniformity, charging and arcing phenomena were shown to be improved significantly.

This paper describes the method of position error reduction in Linear Pulse Motor (LPM). Though the micro step exiting method is applied, the vibration and position error caused by trust distortion from mechanism still remains. This paper presents the method for reduction of position error on moving the mover at whole cycle, by compensating a scale factor through real-time control of the PWM pulse width corresponding to exiting current command and absolute position error from linear encoder.
The linear motor is available for linear transition motion, because of its advantages, the motor design and its application have gradually increased, but the quantitative measurement system of thrust force has not been generalized. Need analysis of correct thrust for control performance improvement of HB-LPM(HB-type Linear Pulse Motor). It is difficult to analyze HB-LPM's thrust. In this paper, HB-LPM's thrust is expressed to mathematical expression. And it is proved validity of this numerical formula by thrust measurement system. Two phase driver is composed. It is verified validity of numerical formula that measure waveform of electric current and voltage that is supplied in each phase.

In this paper, we present the LED dimming control system by using ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). This ADPCM apparatus accurately controls the LED current with high resolution reducing the RFI (radio frequency interference) due to the spreading out of the harmonics of current of pulses. Additionally, this makes it easier to increase the accuracy of control operation. This study introduces to make a digitally controlled circuit for controlling LED with high-energy efficient by adopting pulse current to LED. The LED current drive system we designed are two systems, the digitally-controlled unit and analog switching mode power supply unit, can be developed separately. The simulation shows the sigma delta modulation of digital to analog converter's output when the input level is 0.7. From this simulation, the output is approached to accurately 0.15% to target value with 510 pulses.
