Brushless DC Motor (BDCM) is widely used in the industry such as a variable speed motor in a compressor for room air conditioners, because the motor can be easily controlled and operated over a wide speed range. The system to drive BDCM needs encoder that senses rotor position. Gut in a certain application, the position sensor has to be avoided. In the paper, various position sensorless drive systems for BDCM are investigated and critically evaluated, so that the effective method of sensorless control can be selected. Out of these methods, the freewheeling diode current sensing has many advantages. For example, the simple starting procedure makes it possible to perform sensorless control even in low speed. So the hardware design for this method has been carried out and the system has been implemented using DSP. The experimental results verified that the freewheeling diode current sensing approach has advantages in starting procedure and low speed sensing.
Current sensing in power semiconductors involves sensing of over-current in order to protect the device from harsh conditions. This technique is one of the most important functions in stabilizing power semiconductor device modules. The Power MOSFET is very efficient method with low power consumption, fast sensing speed and accuracy. In this paper, we have analyzed the characteristics of proposed sense FET and optimized its electrical characteristics to apply conventional 40 V power MOSFET by numerical and simulation analysis. The proposed sense FET has the n-drift doping concentration $1.5\times10^{14}\;cm^{-3}$, size of $600\;{\mu}m^2$ with $4.5\;{\Omega}$, and off-state leakage current below $50\;{\mu}A$. We offer the layout of the proposed Power MOSFET to process actually. The offerd design and optimization methods are meaningful, which the methods can be applied to the power devices having various breakdown voltages for protection.
In this paper, we propose an array sensing detection method for smelting of submerged arc furnaces (SAF) based on electromagnetic radiation. AC magnetic field generated by electrode currents and molten currents in the furnace is reflected outside of the furnace. According to the spatial distribution of electromagnetic field a radiation model of SAF is built. We design a 3D magnetic field sensing array system in order to collect the magnetic field information. Through the collected information, the current distribution characteristics of SAF are described and the key parameters of smelting are obtained. Theoretical simulation and field test show that the curves acquired by the sensing array can accurately reflect the information of the relative displacement when the relative displacement between the array and electrode is 10 cm. Compared with the detection method of 3D single point, the proposed array sensing method of magnetic field obtains better results in terms of real-time and accuracy, and has good practical value for industrial measurement.
Since PV PCS uses output current sensor for ac output current control, the sensor's sensing value includes unnecessary offset inevitably. If PV inverter is controlled by the included offset value, it's output current will generate DC offset. The DC offset of output current for trans-less PV inverter is fatal to grid, which results in saturating grid side transformer. Usually DSP controller of PV inverter reads several times sensing value during initial operation and, finally, it's average value is used for offset calibration. However, if temperature changes, the offset changes, too. Therefore, output current sensor measures sensing value that includes offset again. In this paper we propose new algorithm where two identical forward and reverse sensors are used to calculate the offset in real time. As a result the offset is not correlated with temperature change. The proposed algorithm is verified through PSIM simulation for validity.

In this paper, an improved gradient direction assisted linking algorithm is proposed. This algorithm begins with initial seeds satisfying some local criteria. Then it will search along the direction provided by the initial point. A window will be generated in the gradient direction of the current point. Instead of the conventional method which only considers the value of the local salient structure, an improved mathematical model is proposed to describe the desired linear features. This model not only considers the value of the salient structure but also the direction of it. Furthermore, the linking problem under this model can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming method. This algorithm is tested for linear features detection in IKONOS images. The result demonstrates this algorithm is quite promising.
And also, the switch device is not ideal, both each switching element of the voltage drop difference and on & off time delay difference generate DC offset. Thus, to compensate for deadtime and the switch voltage drop, feedback control by output current DC offset should be provided to compensate additional distortion of the output current. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed through PSIM simulation.
In this paper, a new high-powerfactor control method for boost-type rectifier is proposed, which removes the necessity of input current sensing. This method generates a sinewave duty template only from the line voltage waveform and rectifier output, and reduces reactive power remarkably utilizing three compensation coefficients which are determined through experiments. These compensations make the input current to be in phase with the input voltage all over the load range. A prototype boost-type rectifier is designed and experimental results are presented.
For lighting application, high-power LED nowadays is driven at 350mA and a sensing resistor is used to provide feedback for LED-current regulation. This method adds an IR drop at the output branch, and limits power efficiency as LED current is large and keeps increasing. In this paper, a power efficient LED-current sensing circuit is proposed. The circuit does not use any sensing resistor but extracts LED-current information from the output capacitor of the driver. Controlling the brightness of LEDs requires a driver that provides a constant, regulated current. In one case, the converter may need to step down the input voltage, and, in another, it may need to boost up the output voltage. These situations often arise in applications with wide-ranging ""dirty"" input power sources, such as automotive systems. And, the driver topology must be able to generate a large enough output voltage to forward bias the LEDs. So, to provide this requirements, 13W prototype Buck-Boost Converter is used.
