Dynamic buckling of structure is one of the failure modes that needs to be considered since it may result in catastrophic failure of the structure in a short period of time. For a thin fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) plate under compression, buckling is an inherent hazard which will be intensified by the existence of defects like holes, cracks, and delamination. On the other hand, the growth of the delamination is another prime concern for thin FRP plates. In the current paper, reinforcing the plates against buckling is realized by using SMA wires in the form of stitches. A numerical framework is proposed to simulate the dynamic instability emphasizing the effect of the SMA stitches in suppressing delamination growth. The suggested algorithm is more accurate than the other methods when considering the transformation point of the SMA wires and the modeling of the cohesive zone using simple and yet reliable technique. The computational design of the method by producing the line by line orders leads to a simple algorithm for simulating the super-elastic behavior. The Lagoudas constitutive model of the SMA material is implemented in the form of user material subroutines (VUMAT). The normal bilinear spring model is used to reproduce the cohesive zone behavior. The nonlinear finite element formulation is programmed into FORTRAN using the Newmark-beta numerical time-integration approach. The obtained results are compared with the results obtained by the finite element method using ABAQUS/Explicit solver. The obtained results by the proposed algorithm and those by ABAQUS are in good agreement.
Purpose: This study aims to predict the dry cargo transportation market economy. The subject of this study is the BDI (Baltic Dry Index) time-series, an index representing the dry cargo transport market. Methods: In order to increase the accuracy of the BDI time-series, we have pre-processed the original time-series via time-series decomposition and data augmentation techniques and have used them for ANN learning. The ANN algorithms used are Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to compare and analyze the case of learning and predicting by applying time-series decomposition and data augmentation techniques. The forecast period aims to make short-term predictions at the time of t+1. The period to be studied is from '22. 01. 07 to '22. 08. 26. Results: Only for the case of the MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) indicator, all ANN models used in the research has resulted in higher accuracy (1.422% on average) in multivariate prediction. Although it is not a remarkable improvement in prediction accuracy compared to uni-variate prediction results, it can be said that the improvement in ANN prediction performance has been achieved by utilizing time-series decomposition and data augmentation techniques that were significant and targeted throughout this study. Conclusion: Nevertheless, due to the nature of ANN, additional performance improvements can be expected according to the adjustment of the hyper-parameter. Therefore, it is necessary to try various applications of multiple learning algorithms and ANN optimization techniques. Such an approach would help solve problems with a small number of available data, such as the rapidly changing business environment or the current shipping market.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to identifies the demand pattern categorization of repair parts of Automotive After-sales Service(A/S) and proposes a demand prediction model for Auto repair parts using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) of artificial neural networks (ANN). The optimal parts inventory quantity prediction model is implemented by applying daily, weekly, and monthly the parts demand data to the LSTM model for the Lumpy demand which is irregularly in a specific period among repair parts of the Automotive A/S service. Design/methodology/approach This study classified the four demand pattern categorization with 2 years demand time-series data of repair parts according to the Average demand interval(ADI) and coefficient of variation (CV2) of demand size. Of the 16,295 parts in the A/S service shop studied, 96.5% had a Lumpy demand pattern that large quantities occurred at a specific period. lumpy demand pattern's repair parts in the last three years is predicted by applying them to the LSTM for daily, weekly, and monthly time-series data. as the model prediction performance evaluation index, MAPE, RMSE, and RMSLE that can measure the error between the predicted value and the actual value were used. Findings As a result of this study, Daily time-series data were excellently predicted as indicators with the lowest MAPE, RMSE, and RMSLE values, followed by Weekly and Monthly time-series data. This is due to the decrease in training data for Weekly and Monthly. even if the demand period is extended to get the training data, the prediction performance is still low due to the discontinuation of current vehicle models and the use of alternative parts that they are contributed to no more demand. Therefore, sufficient training data is important, but the selection of the prediction demand period is also a critical factor.
The development of autonomous driving and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology has grown rapidly in recent years. As most traffic accidents occur due to human error, self-driving vehicles can drastically reduce the number of accidents and crashes that occur on the roads today. Obviously, technical advancements in autonomous driving can lead to improved public driving safety. However, due to the current limitations in technology and lack of public trust in self-driving cars (and drones), the actual use of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) is still significantly low. According to prior studies, people's acceptance of an AV is mainly determined by trust. It is proven that people still feel much more comfortable in personalized ADAS, designed with the way people drive. Based on such needs, a new attempt for a customized ADAS considering each driver's driving style is proposed in this paper. Each driver's behavior is divided into two categories: assertive and defensive. In this paper, a novel customized ADAS algorithm with high classification accuracy is designed, which divides each driver based on their driving style. Each driver's driving data is collected and simulated using CARLA, which is an open-source autonomous driving simulator. In addition, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) machine learning algorithms are used to optimize the ADAS parameters. The proposed scheme results in a high classification accuracy of time series driving data. Furthermore, among the vast amount of CARLA-based feature data extracted from the drivers, distinguishable driving features are collected selectively using Support Vector Machine (SVM) technology by comparing the amount of influence on the classification of the two categories. Therefore, by extracting distinguishable features and eliminating outliers using SVM, the classification accuracy is significantly improved. Based on this classification, the ADAS sensors can be made more sensitive for the case of assertive drivers, enabling more advanced driving safety support. The proposed technology of this paper is especially important because currently, the state-of-the-art level of autonomous driving is at level 3 (based on the SAE International driving automation standards), which requires advanced functions that can assist drivers using ADAS technology.
Evaluation and optimization of tunnel wall convergence (TWC) plays a vital role in preventing potential problems during tunnel construction and utilization stage. When convergence occurs at a high rate, it can lead to significant problems such as reducing the advance rate and safety, which in turn increases operating costs. In order to design an effective solution, it is important to accurately predict the degree of TWC; this can reduce the level of concern and have a positive effect on the design. With the development of soft computing methods, the use of deep learning algorithms and neural networks in tunnel construction has expanded in recent years. The current study aims to employ the long-short-term memory (LSTM) deep neural network predictor model to predict the TWC, based on 550 data points of observed parameters developed by collecting required data from different tunnelling projects. Among the data collected during the pre-construction and construction phases of the project, 80% is randomly used to train the model and the rest is used to test the model. Several loss functions including root mean square error (RMSE) and coefficient of determination (R2) were used to assess the performance and precision of the applied method. The results of the proposed models indicate an acceptable and reliable accuracy. In fact, the results show that the predicted values are in good agreement with the observed actual data. The proposed model can be considered for use in similar ground and tunneling conditions. It is important to note that this work has the potential to reduce the tunneling uncertainties significantly and make deep learning a valuable tool for planning tunnels.

The natural language processing models used in current artificial intelligence are huge, causing various difficulties in processing and analyzing data in real time. In order to solve these difficulties, we proposed a method to improve the efficiency of processing by using less memory and checked the performance of the proposed model. The technique applied in this paper to evaluate the performance of the proposed model is to divide the large corpus by adjusting the number of attention heads and embedding size of the BERT[1] model to be small, and the results are calculated by averaging the output values of each forward. In this process, a random offset was assigned to the sentences at every epoch to provide diversity in the input data. The model was then fine-tuned for classification. We found that the split processing model was about 12% less accurate than the unsplit model, but the number of parameters in the model was reduced by 56%.
It is a well-established theory that emotion is influential in cognitive processing. Extensive prior research on emotion has shown that emotional factors, such as affect, mood, and feeling, play as information indicating whether he or she has enough knowledge. Most of their findings focused on the effect of emotional valence (i.g., one's subjective positivity or negativity related with the emotion). Recently, several studies on emotion suggest that there is another dimension of emotion, which affects the type of cognitive processing. The studies argue that emotional certainty facilitates heuristic processing, whereas emotional uncertainty promotes systematic processing. Based on the findings, current study examines the effect of certainty on attitudes and recall. Specifically, the authors investigate the effect of certainty on how much effort individuals use to process advertising information and how certainty affects attitude formation toward the advertised product. The authors also focus on recall to clarify the working mechanism of certainty on attitudes, because recall performance reflects the depth of information processing. Based on previous findings, the authors hypothesize that uncertainty (vs. certainty) leads to more favorable attitudes as well as better recall, and conduct an experiment using a fictitious advertisement with 218 participants. The results confirm the predicted effects of certainty only on attitudes not recall. A possible explanation of this discrepancy between attitudes and recall lies in the measurement method, unaided recall. To rule out this possibility, the authors perform an additional analysis with the participants who recall any correct information of the target advertisement. The results show certainty has a negative effect on both attitudes and recall. A bootstrapping test reveals that recall mediates the effect of certainty on attitudes. This result confirms that certainty decreases elaboration, which in turn leads to less favorable attitudes relative to uncertainty. Additionally, our data shows the association among certainty, recall, and attitudes by showing the indirect effect of certainty on attitudes via recall. This research encourages practitioners in the field to emphasize that they should focus on target audiences' emotional certainty before they provide the persuasive message, by showing that uncertainty promotes effortful processing, which in turn leads to better memory and more favorable attitudes.

Cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) are widely used in various dredging constructions such as channel excavation, wharf construction, and reef construction. During a CSD construction, the main operation is to control the swing speed of cutter to keep the slurry concentration in a proper range. However, the slurry concentration cannot be monitored in real-time, i.e., there is a "time-lag effect" in the log of slurry concentration, making it difficult for operators to make the optimal decision on controlling. Concerning this issue, a solution scheme that using real-time monitored indicators to predict current slurry concentration is proposed in this research. The characteristics of the CSD monitoring data are first studied, and a set of preprocessing methods are presented. Then we put forward the concept of "index class" to select the important indices. Finally, an ensemble learning algorithm is set up to fit the relationship between the slurry concentration and the indices of the index classes. In the experiment, log data over seven days of a practical dredging construction is collected. For comparison, the Deep Neural Network (DNN), Long Short Time Memory (LSTM), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT), and the Bayesian Ridge algorithm are tried. The results show that our method has the best performance with an R2 of 0.886 and a mean square error (MSE) of 5.538. This research provides an effective way for real-time predicting the slurry concentration of CSDs and can help to improve the stationarity and production efficiency of dredging construction.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution and sensor technology have led to increased utilization of sensor data. In our modern society, data complexity is rising, and the extraction of valuable information has become crucial with the rapid changes in information technology (IT). Recurrent neural networks (RNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) models have shown remarkable performance in natural language processing (NLP) and time series prediction. Consequently, there is a strong expectation that models excelling in NLP will also excel in time series prediction. However, current research on Transformer models for time series prediction remains limited. Traditional RNN and LSTM models have demonstrated superior performance compared to Transformers in big data analysis. Nevertheless, with continuous advancements in Transformer models, such as GPT-2 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 2) and ProphetNet, they have gained attention in the field of time series prediction. This study aims to evaluate the classification performance and interval prediction of remaining useful life (RUL) using an advanced Transformer model. The performance of each model will be utilized to establish a health index (HI) for cutting blades, enabling real-time monitoring of machine health. The results are expected to provide valuable insights for machine monitoring, evaluation, and management, confirming the effectiveness of advanced Transformer models in time series analysis when applied in industrial settings.

The growth of the metaverse has been accelerated by the increased demand for non-face-to-face interactions due to COVID-19 and advancements in technologies such as blockchain and NFTs. However, with the emergence of various metaverse platforms and the corresponding rise in users, criminal cases such as ransomware attacks, copyright infringements, and sexual offenses have occurred within the metaverse. Consequently, the need for artifacts that can be utilized as digital evidence within metaverse systems has increased. However, there is a lack of information about artifacts that can be used as digital evidence. Furthermore, metaverse security evaluation and forensic analysis are also insufficient, and the absence of attack scenarios and related guidelines makes forensics challenging. To address these issues, this paper presents artifacts that can be used for user behavior analysis and timeline analysis through dynamic analysis of Roblox, a representative metaverse gaming solution. Based on analyzing interrelationship between identified artifacts through memory forensics and log file analysis, this paper suggests the potential usability of artifacts in metaverse crime scenarios. Moreover, it proposes improvements by analyzing the current legal and regulatory aspects to address institutional deficiencies.
