This paper proposes a series arc fault detection algorithm which incorporates peak voltage and harmonic current detectors for single-phase boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifiers. The series arc fault model is also proposed to analyze the phenomenon of the arc fault and detection algorithm. For arc detection, the virtual dq transformation is utilized to detect the peak input voltage. In addition, multiple combinations of low- and high-pass filters are applied to extract the specific harmonic components which show the characteristics of the series arc fault conditions. The proposed model and the arc detection method are experimentally verified through a boost PFC rectifier prototype operating under the grid-tied condition with an artificial arc generator manufactured under the guidelines for the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1699 standard.

Recently, Several type of motors are used more widely in Fan system because of their low cost and high reliability. Therefore, the importance of fault detection and isolation of fan system significantly increases. The motor is a important factor bring out the fan system fault. So the problem of a fault detection for motor based on a parameter identification will be considered in this paper. After an introduction into fault detection with parameter estimation, a mathematical model for motor with special emphasis on motor itself. In the fault detection system, current and motor speed are used as parameter. Finally, simulation results are used to demonstrate the efficiency of the fault detection system.
The threat to the network is increasing due to explosive increasing use of the Internet. Current IDS(Intrusion Detection System) detects intrusion and does individual response in small area network. It is important that construction of infra to do response in all system environment through sharing information between different network domains. This paper provides a policy-based IDS management architecture enabling management of intrusion detection systems. The IIDS(Integrated Intrusion Detection System) is composed of IDAs(Intrusion Detection Agents). We describe requirements in design and the elements of function.

The increase of video data makes the demand of efficient retrieval, storing, and browsing technologies necessary. In this paper, a video segmentation method (scene change detection method, or shot boundary detection method) for the development of such systems is proposed. For abrupt cut detection, inter-frame similarities are computed using luminance and edge histograms and a cut is declared when the similarities are under th predetermined threshold values. A gradual scene change detection is based on the similarities between the current frame and the previous shot boundary frame. A correlation method is used to obtain universal threshold values, which are applied to various video data. Experimental results show that propose method provides 90% precision and 98% recall rates for abrupt cut, and 59% precision and 79% recall rates for gradual change.
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), widely used for the detection of plant viruses, are not easily performed, resulting in a demand for an innovative and more efficient diagnostic method. This paper summarizes the characteristics and research trends of biosensors focusing on the physicochemical properties of both interface elements and bioconjugates. In particular, the topological and photophysical properties of quantum dots (QDs) are discussed, along with QD-based biosensors and their practical applications. The QD-based Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) genosensor, most widely used in the biomolecule detection fields, and QD-based nanosensor for Rev-RRE interaction assay are presented as examples. In recent years, QD-based biosensors have emerged as a new class of sensor and are expected to open opportunities in plant virus detection, but as yet there have been very few practical applications (Table 3). In this article, the details of those cases and their significance for the future of plant virus detection will be discussed.

Cognitive Radio (CR) users need to sense the environment or channel at regular time interval for sharing the spectrum band of the primary users (PUs). Once find the spectrum idle, CR users start their transmission through it. Even while transmitting, they need to continue the sensing process so that they can leave the spectrum immediately whenever find a PU wanting to use the band. Therefore, detecting PUs is one of the main functions of cognitive radio before transmission and higher the detection probability ensures better protection to the primary users. However, it is not possible to attain a high detection probability (or a low miss detection probability) and low false alarm probability simultaneously as there is a tradeoff between false alarm probability ($P_{fa}$) and the probability of detection ($P_d$). In this paper, the author has provided a comprehensive study on different sensing techniques and discussed their advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, it is expected that, with this article, readers can have a through understanding of sensing techniques in CR and the current research trends in this area.

In this paper, we developed an algorithm to detect arc of PV power plant through frequency analysis. For arc detection based on frequency analysis, the filter should be designed to emphasize the difference between the arc state and the normal state. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the arc detection performance according to various filter structures. The arc detection algorithm developed in this paper extracts the filtering signal on current by using various filters and then calculates the frequency components and total energy using the FFT. In the final step, the arc is detected using the calculated energy magnitude. In order to verify the performance of the proposed arc detection algorithm, experiments were conducted on 51 kW solar inverters connected to power line. Through various experiments, it was confirmed that the proposed method effectively detects the arc.
In an optical interferometer that uses sinusoidal modulation and quadrature detection, the amplitude and offset of the interference signal vary with time, even without considering system noise. As a result, the circular Lissajous figure becomes elliptical, with wide lines. We propose and experimentally demonstrate a method for compensating quadrature detection error, based on digital signal processing to deal with scaling and fitting. In scaling, fluctuations in the amplitudes of in-phase and quadrature signals are compensated, and the scaled signals are fitted to a Lissajous unit circle. To do so, we scale the average fluctuation, remove the offset, and fit the ellipse to a unit circle. Our measurements of a target moving with uniform velocity show that we reduce quadrature detection error from 5 to 2 nanometers.
A general and universal detection method, which can be used in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and flow injection analysis (FIA) system for the determination of any metal ions complexing with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), is demonstrated. Pulsed amperometric detection scheme is applied in a flow-through thin layer electrochemical cell at an Au working electrode. Fluctuation of peak current level at the same flow rate of carrier solution is minimized at this solid working electrode, whereas not at a dropping mercury electrode. Removal of dissolved oxygen can be omitted with this detection method, which is a required step for cathodic detection methods. Also, a group of metal ions can be determined selectively and indirectly with this detection scheme.

This paper proposes a fault detection method for a Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) with overactuated system. Current status information for fault detection is expressed as a scalogram image. The scalogram image is obtained by wavelet-transforming the USV's control input and sensor information. The fault detection scheme is based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. The previously generated scalogram data was transferred learning to GoogLeNet algorithm. The data are generated as scalogram images in real time, and fault is detected through a learning model. The result of fault detection is very robust and highly accurate.
