Four design codes/regulations for steel structures in Japan are briefly reviewed. Some of them employ the limit state design concept while the others are still based on the allowable stress design concept. The process for revision is now in action. The directions in the development of structural design codes are also reported herein. It is noted that a current trend in this development is to employ the performance-based design concept that has been successfully implemented in some seismic design codes.

In this paper we realized non-contact sheet resistance measurement system using eddy current. Proposed system is designed to meet the requirements which is necessary when dealing with conducting thin films on large area LCD panel. With several metals we could get lift-off curves which has the same trend as in principal. Especially in the region of high conductivity this system has more discriminating ability than 4-point probe system.

In Tokamak magnet for nuclear fusion, high current pulse type conductor is requested. Cable in Conduit type Conductor(CICC) is considered to be effective for this application because of not only high current but the high stability and mechanical strength. In this paper, the present status of conductor development for superconducting tokamak has been investigated.

Rotator cuff disease is the most common cause of shoulder pain. Recent understanding of structure and mechanics enables scientific approach to the treatment of the cuff teat. It is an integral component in the normal movement and function of the shoulder. This article addresses current knowledge of the structure and biomechanics of the rotator cuff, and reviews various kind of operative treatment.

General trend in electronics industry towards multimedia in the 21 century is presented here. All equipments require fast graphic processing together with thin and lightweight assembly technology. In Japan, CSP was developed and applied to mobile equipments for several years, and recently stacked die assembly technology is being developed. In addition, so-called flip chip technology is also being developed and which is applied to MCP and MCM little by little these days. Here current packaging technology in Japan is presented including above.

While past traffic laws have focused on solving problems related to traffic congestion, the current legislation must play a role in reducing the social cost of solving traffic problems by forecasting future issues based on current traffic situations, setting goals in advance, and leading the traffic modal choice-trend. This paper verifies that the bimodal tram should be an alternative means of public transportation and proposes ways to introduce and promote it based on a government subsidy and the modification of traffic laws.

In the present IEC 60427(2000), reduced applied voltage can be used for synthetic short-circuit making current tests if the maximum pre-arcing time of the test circuit breaker is less than $1/{\omega}$. But in the near future IEC, only the making tests with full test voltage shall be allowed. To meet this trend, KERI is preparing synthetic making test facilities using step-up transformer, ITMC and plasma making switch. This paper presents analytical characteristics of KERI's synthetic short-circuit making test circuits. The results of this paper can be useful for effective and adequate tests.

The purpose of this research is to propose employee uniforms for tourist hotels on Jeju Island, such uniforms that embrace Jeju's unique culture and promote the tourism of Jeju Island. It has been suggested that there exists a need for hotel employee uniforms to attract more tourist attention and boost Jeju's tourism industry. We designed the uniform after analyzing the empirical data collected from academia thesis, periodicals, papers and pictures from internet search, and fashion industry magazines. The uniform analysis and production procedures are as follows: (1) precedent research case review (2) current (existing) uniform status survey (3) latest fashion trend analysis (2010 - 2014) (4) creating the uniform implementing the trend-based design with Gal Cheon, Jeju's cultural product material. We found tipping points of the design through literature and trend analysis; we developed appropriate uniforms accordingly that are harmonious with Jeju's unique identity. We received great evaluations on the appearance and comfort as well. A new concept of uniform featuring Gal Cheon has been proposed. It is expected that the uniforms will promote the brand image of Jeju as an international freedom city and its culture.

The retro fashion and orientalism have been the main trend in the fashion industry tram 2000 as the turning point tram the minimalism. In particular, the far eastern oriental ism, that is, Japanese orientalism had been rapidly spread from 2001. As the trend has been moving to Chinese orientalism from 2003, the fabrics with flower pattern prints and those imbued with Chinese orientalism that were popular in 1960 are the main stream in the textile industry at present. As keeping up with the current trend, this study analyzed the common features and differences between textile patterns with Chinese orientalism that are prevailing ai present and the textile patterns that were popular in 1960s through the film "In the Mood for Love" that told the story of people who immigrated from Shanghai to Hong Kong in 1960s. According to the analysis, the popular textile patterns in 1960s were splendid flower patterns, pop art and op art patterns. Such a trend was elegantly expressed as the textile pattern of Chinese orientalism using qipao in the film "In the Mood for Love".
