  • This paper presents a fast switching direct torque control (FS-DTC) using only a single DC-link current sensor. In FS-DTC, six new active voltage complex space vectors (CSVs) are synthesized by the conventional active voltage space vectors (SVs). The corresponding sectors are rotated in the anticlockwise direction by 30 degrees. A selection table is defined to select the CSVs. Based on the "Different Phase Mode", the output sequence of the selected CSV is optimized. Accordingly, a reconstruction method is proposed to acquire the phase currents. The core of the FS-DTC is that all of the three phase currents can be reliably reconstructed during every two sampling periods, which is the result of the fast switching between different phases. The errors between the reconstructed and actual currents are strictly limited in one sampling period. The FS-DTC has the advantages of the standard DTC scheme such as simple structure, quick torque response and robustness. As can be seen in the analysis, the FS-DTC can be thought of as an equivalent standard DTC scheme with 86.6% of the maximum speed, 173.2% of the torque ripple, and 115% of the response time of the torque. Based on a dSPACE DS1103 controller, the FS-DTC is implemented in an induction machine drive system. The results verify the effectiveness of the FS-DTC.

  • In this paper a prototype of high frequency heating power supply system based on the high frequency heating principle is designed to take the place of acupuncture, moxibustion, warm dressing treatment and some other traditional physical therapy methods. Which possess the advantages of low cost, convenient, easy operation and good effect. The high frequency heating power supply can generate a pulse voltage of more than 1KV with 300KHz switching frequency to heat the patient's skin. The skin temperature can reach to $41{\sim}42^{\circ}C$. The peak current control method is used to maintain the skin temperature in the designed range. The design of the main circuit is based on the flyback converter topology. An easier and practical design method is proposed in this paper. The power supply system prototype is verified to be stable and reliable by both the simulation and experimental results.

  • Energy storage system has been widely applied in power distribution sectors as well as in renewable energy sources to ensure uninterruptible power supply. This paper presents a model predictive algorithm to control a bidirectional AC-DC converter, which is used in an energy storage system for power transferring between the three-phase AC voltage supply and energy storage devices. This model predictive control (MPC) algorithm utilizes the discrete behavior of the converter and predicts the future variables of the system by defining cost functions for all possible switching states. Subsequently, the switching state that corresponds to the minimum cost function is selected for the next sampling period for firing the switches of the AC-DC converter. The proposed model predictive control scheme of the AC-DC converter allows bidirectional power flow with instantaneous mode change capability and fast dynamic response. The performance of the MPC controlled bidirectional AC-DC converter is simulated with MATLAB/Simulink(R) and further verified with 3.0kW experimental prototypes. Both the simulation and experimental results show that, the AC-DC converter is operated with unity power factor, acceptable THD (3.3% during rectifier mode and 3.5% during inverter mode) level of AC current and very low DC voltage ripple. Moreover, an efficiency comparison is performed between the proposed MPC and conventional VOC-based PWM controller of the bidirectional AC-DC converter which ensures the effectiveness of MPC controller.

  • In this paper, a vector control of the IPMSM drives for the next generation domestic high speed railway system is presented. The applied control method uses one pulse mode field weakening control in constant power region, and maximum torque control per ampere control in constant torque region considering current and voltage limits. An overmodulation control interval is inserted to improve the transient characteristics during transition period of the control modes. Simulation programs based on Matlab/Simulink are developed. Finally the designed system is verified by simulation and their characteristics are analyzed by the simulation results.

  • The system efficiency of the proposed Buck-Boost AC-DC converter is increased by soft switching method. The converter includes to merit of power factor correction (PFC) from sinusoidal control of input current. The switching behavior of control switches operates with soft switching by partial resonance, and then the proposed converter has high system efficiency with decrement of switching power loss. The input current waveform in proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form of discontinuous quasi-pulse row in proportion to magnitude of AC input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity. The output voltage of the converter is regulated by PWM control technique. The discontinuous mode action of current flowing into inductor makes to simplify control method and control components. The proposed PFC Buck-Boost converter is analyzed to compare with the conventional PFC Buck-Boost converter. Some computer simulative results and experimental results confirm to the validity of the analytical results.

  • This paper presents a current-source-inverter based on a buck-boost configuration and its application for residential photovoltaic system. The proposed circuit has five switches. Among them, only one switch acts as chopping, and the other determine the polarity of output; therefore, it can reduce the switching loss. Because the input inductor current is operated on the discontinuous conduction mode, high power factor can be achieved without additional input current controller. So the overall system shows a simple structure. The operational modes are analysed in depth, and then it was verified through the experimental results using a 150 [W] prototype equipped with digital signal processor TMS320F241.

To limit inrush current high voltage transformer the relay contact should be ˝ON˝ when the lowest point of input voltage phase. The improved circuit is form compensating interrupt signal Micom input so the relay contact can be ˝ON˝ when the inrush current is lower. Test results are presented that improved circuit satisfies the limit 50[A] of requirement for input voltage variation mode. And the result verified by statistical method.

  • This paper is an experimental research of the design of a cell battery charger using switching methods. The developed charger in this paper can do both the equalizing current charge and floating charge. Also, it is easily transferable. Power MOS FET was used for the full bridge converter of the charger, and ZVS was applied for the switching method of the converter. Also, Customized IC was used for the control circuit in order to simplify ZVS mode. The setting current and floating current used for the charger were designed by using OP AMP. • A non-contact battery charger which transfers energy using magnetic field without any electrical contacts is designed using half-bridge series resonant converter. This converter utilizes series resonance to reduce the undesirable effect of large leakage inductance of the non-contact transformer and ZVS operation can reduce switching losses. In this paper. analysis and design procedure of half-bridge series resonant converter with non-contact transformer is presented. Input voltage is 85VAC ${\sim}$ 270VAC, output voltage and current is 4.1V and 800mA, respectively. Furthermore, a method for calculating the secondary current of the transformer to control battery charging current in constant current charging mode which is required for litium-ion battery is proposed and the performance is verified from experiments.

  • An interleaved single-stage AC/DC converter with a boost converter and an asymmetrical half-bridge topology is presented to achieve power factor correction, zero voltage switching (ZVS) and load voltage regulation. Asymmetric pulse-width modulation (PWM) is adopted to achieve ZVS turn-on for all of the switches and to increase circuit efficiency. Two ZVS half-bridge converters with interleaved PWM are connected in parallel to reduce the ripple current at input and output sides, to control the output voltage at a desired value and to achieve load current sharing. A center-tapped rectifier is adopted at the secondary side of the transformers to achieve full-wave rectification. The boost converter is operated in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) to automatically draw a sinusoidal line current from an AC source with a high power factor and a low current distortion. Finally, a 240W converter with the proposed topology has been implemented to verify the performance and feasibility of the proposed converter.
