Load Variation Removal and Stack Durability Experiments to Improve Lifetime of Fuel Cell Stack for Hydrogen Electric Vehicles (수소전기차 연료전지 수명 향상을 위한 부하 변동 제거 및 스택 내구성 실험)

  • Load variations reduce the lifespan of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). To analyze the impact of load variations on durability of PEFCs, two stacks were built and operated continuously for 400 hours, one under load variations and the other under constant current condition with the same energy output. Using the example model provided by Mathworks, we obtained load variation data for the experiments. The performance curves were measured every 100 hours and analyzed by current interruption method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The degradation comparison shows a much larger decrease in performance under the load variation. The activation resistance, electrical resistance, and mass transfer resistance are all found to increase more.

  • 본 연구에서는 가스 차단기의 소전류 차단성능을 개선하기 위한 최적화 과정에 대해서 나타낸다. 목적함수는 절연내력과 극간 인가전압의 차이의 최소값으로 선정하였으며, 목적함수가 최대가 되도록 최적화를 수행한다. 설계 변수로는 개극 전의 전극 이동길이, 노즐목 길이 및 노즐목 발산각과 노즐 하류장 형상을 채택하였다. 최적화 알고리즘으로는 (1+1) 진화알고리즘을, 유동해석을 위해서는 FVFLIC법을 사용하였다. 최적화 결과로 얻어진 모델은 초기 모델에 비해 소전류 차단성능이 상당히 개선되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Becoming more and more diversified and complicated, power quality management has focused on the electricity-failure duration(including the numbers), the appropriate rate of voltage(average voltage during 30 minutes), the stability rate of frequency etc. as a basic goal value. And recently the focus is moving into the instantaneous minute interruption factors such as voltage & current harmonics, surge occurring frequency, instantaneous voltage variation, voltage unbalance, instantaneous electricity failure, flicker etc. by the development of electricity & electronics and communication equipments, which had not been so big problems before. This paper will address the flow of analysis technology and forecast the desirable direction of power quality analysis technology in the future.

  • Recently, the vacuum interrupters have been most widely used in medium voltage level. In the vacuum circuit breaker the most influential part is vacuum interrupter. By performing the precise electromagnetic analysis of the interrupter, we increase the capability of large current interruption. In this paper, diffuse arc and constricted arc are modeled to perform 3D electromagnetic analysis, and also flux distributions and electromagnetic force is calculated at the contacts' separation. It is expected these results will be used importantly in developing the new vacuum interrupters.

  • [ $SF_6$ ] gas circuit breakers are widely used for short circuit current interruption in EHV(Extra High Voltage) or UHV(Ultra High Voltage) power systems. To develop $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers, the arc resistance value is necessary to compare experimental results to numerical ones. The arc resistance value can be obtained from a breaking test with a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker. The direct testing or synthetic testing facility is widely used to verify the breaking ability for $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers. We employed the simplified synthetic testing facility to test a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker prototype. The arc resistance characteristic was measured and calculated under the various experimental conditions. This arc resistance value can be used for verifying the numerical results from arc simulation in a circuit breakers.

  • This Paper presents some experimental result of current limiting and short circuit interruption behavior of thin copper film, 12${\mu}m$, 25${\mu}m$, 40${\mu}m$, 50${\mu}m$ on alumina substrate. and a fuse-link having elements of copper film provided with high-precision small hols with electrolytical process.   • In case of using three-phase induction motor in three-phase power system, if he deficiency happens in phase among three-phase, the motor will drive in an open phase state. As to the motor, the continuing operation is possible then, but the phenomenon that the power supply stops happening by the result of the overload electricity order on the healthy phase of two phases with a damage and activating the circuit breaker. Consequently, in order to overcome this problem in treatise accordingly. I propose an uninterruptible power supply which is able to prevent that the over current on the health phase through the restoration that in case happening open phase on the power line when driving the motor. Also, it is possible to supply power consecutively without interruption of electric power and we proved the performance and reliability through an experiment.

  • [ $SF_6$ ] gas circuit breakers are widely used short circuit current interruption in EHV or UHV power system. For a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker development, the $SF_6$ gas velocity measurement is necessary during $SF_6$ circuit breaker's trip operation. Small-gap flashover characteristics are used for this measurement. So, small-gap measuring system which will be used to develope GCB should be developed. This study shows the characteristic analysis and experimental results of small-gap measuring system.

  • The higher the short circuit currents, the faster the interruption takes place. For increasing the interrupting performance of the MCCB, it is important to design optimally the adjustable tripping device, the open /shut mechanism, and the arc quenching room in the MCCB. This paper is focused on understanding the interrupting performance, more specifically of the grid and the fix contact, based on the shape of the arc quenching room in the current MCCB.

  • Recently, there have been studied the importance of the grounding system, as electrical equipments installed in the building, such as intelligent building. The object of grounding of electrical facilities is to protect human and machine damage from the power supply interruption high voltage by use of the accident current dissipating into the ground. In this paper, we is proposed to design of grounding system with economical efficiency in electric rolling stocks facilities. To make efficient ground, ground potential rise must be controlled in the way of overall lowering and evenness instead of independent grounding method with respect to electrical facilities.
