In this paper, we conducted cross-cultural studies on digital images, which is an important element of the user interface. We brought in the schema theory to explain the cross-cultural difference in expressing and perceiving digital images. Participant-ethnography, in-depth interview, and card sorting were conducted to explore how expression and perception of image are influenced by schemas. Our results of qualitative studies indicate that there are differences in schemas between cultures depending on the topic of expression and perception. With these results, we suggest globalization and localization strategies of website.

전통건축물은 인류가 살아오면서 만들어 온 수많은 문화유산 중 하나로서 인류의 과학기술과 역사적인 사실들을 투영하고 있는 소중한 문화유산인 동시에 중요한 기록문화유산이다. 전통건축물은 건축물 자체로도 중요할 뿐만 아니라 그로부터 파생되는 그림, 도면, 단행본 등과 같은 여러 매체로도 표현된다는 특징을 가지고 있다. 이러한 관계들을 표현하고 전통건축물과 그에 관련한 기록물을 효율적으로 관리 보존 활용하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 국내 외 문화유산 관련 메타데이터 현황을 알아보고 문제점들을 분석하여 이를 바탕으로 FRBR모형에서 제시하는 1집단 4계층의 논리구조 기반의 전통건축물 메타데이터 스키마를 제시하였다.

The current study reported on the continuing relevance of the schema theory for reading as it relates to the field of teaching and SLA, whilst highlighting the inherent limitations affecting individual learners. A relevant study was conducted for this article focusing on the extent to which university teacher trainees of English Education are exposed to second language readings with an adherence towards utilizing prior knowledge and drawing upon schemata to support their comprehension. Results from quantitative and qualitative data measured and collected from two groups of university students respectively, indicated certain advantages to this strategy use in respect of increased understanding, familiarity, and comfort level in SL reading. However, those same results identified existing limitations associated with cultural bias, stereotyping and a tendency to focus on wrong information when activating said schemata. As such, the purpose of this study is to promote awareness of the schema theory as an effective strategy option whilst reinforcing a need to pay heed to the concerns associated with strict reliance upon such theory to aid reading skills. Further discussion of these issues and pedagogical implications has been provided along with both suggested considerations regarding teaching for EFL teachers and evaluators.

Purpose. Koreans are one of the fastest growing Asian populations in the U.S. since 1960s. In Korean immigrant women (KIW), breast cancer was reported as the most frequently diagnosed cancer. However, their screening rates for breast cancer are lower than national guidelines; it is assumed that underlying cultural schemas of breast, breast cancer, and its screening modalities exist and need to be studied. This study was aimed to investigate cultural meanings of breast, breast cancer, and breast cancer screenings in KIW. Methods. Using cultural models theory from cognitive anthropology, naturalistic qualitative methodology was utilized. Three focus group interviews with fifteen KIW were conducted. Thematic analysis with constant comparison technique was performed eliciting units of meaning, categories, and themes. Results. The cultural schema of the meaning of breast is 'mother who is breast-feeding her baby,' with two themes of 'balance in size,' and 'shyness.' Regarding breast cancer, three themes, i.e., 'indifference,' 'fear,' and 'uncertainty' are emerged. 'Lack of information about screening modalities' is the overarching schema with reference to breast cancer screenings. Conclusions. The findings of this study demonstrate unique cultural models of KIW related to breast cancer and its screenings, which are critical to understand and penetrate their barriers to breast cancer screening.

This article aims to establish the model of textual communication and its schema. To do this, we must identify the characteristics of textual communication, different from that of the oral, because the model of communication is usually done to show the structure of oral communication. Moreover, we must clarify the status text as '${\acute{e}}nonc{\acute{e}}$', that is to say product of the act of enunciation. The study of the text has now reached to achieve from the perspective of pragmatics, overcoming the structural point of view that dominates long text linguistics. And now, we need to enrich the theoretical basis of the pragmatics of text. Then the search of elements necessary to develop the model and pattern of textual communication can help to establish the elements used to form the theoretical basis. To clarify the characteristics of textual communication, we needed to explain the present communication by the position of reader and the point of view of textual reference. The schema that we proposed is not perfect, but there are still issues to think to complete it. For example, one must take into account the plurality of readers and reflect the relationship between interpretive texts in this schema, etc. This kind of problem is not only required to complete the schema but also to strengthen the basis of the theory of textual communication and the pragmatics of text.

본 논문은 도시환경의 공공사인시스템의 효율극대화를 위하여 안구운동을 측정하는 공학 심리적 또는 인지 과학적 실험을 통하여 안구운동과 가로세로의 시각흐름 그리고 유전된 문화적. 선험적 도식 그리고 대뇌의 시각 시스템의 차별을 탐색하였다. 따라서 EMR 관측실험과 bitmap counting 방법을 대입함으로서 가장 효율적인 시각디자인 측정을 구할 수 있는 algorithm을 도출하였다. 본 논문에서는 과학적인 실험 Data가 인간의 $\ulcorner$Schema$\lrcorner$ 와 $\ulcorner$Sensory Qualia$\lrcorner$ 에 의해, 차별화와 시각표집(Visual Sampling)의 가변성(Momentum)이 상존함을 알게 되었다.

지방 균형발전을 위한 지방자치단체(이하 지자체) 현황 분석을 위해서는 경제, 사회, 문화 전반에 걸친 종합적인 자료의 활용이 필수적이지만, 지자체의 각 예산 및 활동별로 담당 중앙정부 부처가 다른 이유로 통합적인 관리가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 정부 3.0 시대에 맞춰 다양한 정보가 공개되고 있으나, 관계된 정보들이 여러 기관에 산재되어 있어 연구자들이 하나의 논제에 대해 통합적인 분석을 하는 데 큰 어려움이 상존한다. 그리고 이러한 정보 분산은 지역 균형발전을 위한 현황 분석 및 대안 제시를 목적으로 하는 연구자들의 연구 활용에 필요한 기반자료의 부족을 초래하고 효율적인 연구에 저해가 되고 있다. 본 연구는 지자체 관련 연구자들의 연구 활동을 지원할 수 있는 지자체 통합 데이터베이스(DB)의 구축 방안을 제안하였다. 지자체 통합 DB는 지자체의 경제, 사회, 문화 활동에 대한 분산되고 이질적인 자료를 망라하여야 하며, 지자체 간 그리고 데이터 구성 요소 간의 차이를 고려해서 전체 자료를 통합할 수 있는 스키마(schema)를 설계하고 이에 바탕을 두고 구축되어야 한다. 그리고 지자체별 또는 연도별과 같은 공통 요소를 통한 교차 분석이 가능하도록 통합 DB를 설계함으로써 다면적인 연구 분석을 위한 프레임워크를 구축하는 데 중점을 두어야 한다.

Community enterprise plays an important role for developing local business. Products from local communities apply local specialties such as high-quality materials and inherited wisdom. This work aims to support merchandises from local community enterprises by bringing out their specialties related to local wisdom and intangible cultural aspects. An ontology is applied to demonstrate the innate information regarding the implicit values of the products and is used as a core for a semantic search system. Details of the products are gathered from their respective community using an interview method and are extracted to align with the developed ontological schema. The semantic search system thus is implemented with a recommendation process for online accessibility for providing the organised information. From evaluation, the developed ontology and its instances are rated highly for their consistency, conciseness, and completeness. In usage, accuracy of the query and recommendation results are evaluated at 97.38% searching accuracy and 85.03% for recommending interesting products.

우리나라와 같이 EFL의 상황에서는 대부분의 학생과 교사들은 영어권의 문화적 요소를 습득하기 위해 교과서에 의존하게 된다. 따라서 영어 교과서에 문화적 요소가 어떻게 다루어졌는지 분석하는 것이 필요하다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 교과서가 각 과마다 문화 고정란을 포함하고 있으나 학생들이 문화적 개념을 습득하는 데는 부족하다. 둘째, 정신문화, 물질문화, 그리고 행동문화의 세 가지의 유형이 비슷하게 분포되어 있다. 셋째, 2011 개정 교육과정에 따른 문화 소재별 분석 결과 예술, 문학 등의 심미적 심성을 기르는 데 도움이 되는 소재가 가장 높은 반영률을 보였다. 넷째, 문화 배경별 분석을 해본 결과 보편문화가 가장 많은 비중을 차지하고 있었다. 결론적으로, 학생들의 영미문화의 지식을 향상시키기 위해서는 좀 더 다양하고 고르게 문화를 다루려는 노력을 해야할 것으로 보인다. 또한 한국문화와 영어권 문화를 비교할 수 있는 내용과 한국문화의 소개 등도 좀 더 많이 다루어서 학생들이 의사소통을 함에 있어서 어려움을 겪지 않도록 해야 할 것이다.
