Selection of Pollution-tolerant Plants and Restoration Planning to Recover the Forest Ecosystem Degraded by Air Pollution in the Industrial Complex

  • To restore the forest ecosystem severely damaged by air pollution around industrial complexes, plants tolerant to the polluted environment were selected by transplant and pot culture experiments. A restoration plan by arranging those tolerant species was prepared based on the ecological diagnostic results on an area that requires restoration. Transplant experiment in Ulsan and Yeocheon areas, the representative industrial complexes in Korea, selected eight tolerant species of Quercus aliena, Q. acutissima, Q. dentata, Q. mongolica, Q. serrata, Ligustrum japonicum, Styrax japonica, and Poncirus trifoliata. Cultivation in the polluted soil transported from the Ulsan and Yeocheon industrial complexes chose five tolerant plants of Q. aliena, Q. acutissima, Q. serrata, Styrax japonica, and Alnus firma. A plan to restore the forest ecosystem of Mt. Dotjil, which experienced the severest ecosystem degradation in the Ulsan industrial complex, was prepared by applying those tolerant species along with treatment for soil amelioration. Arrangement of the tolerant species was designed by considering their ecological characteristics including distribution range on topography and shade tolerance. Soil amelioration was focused on the improvement of fertility and moisture conditions.

Comparison of Characteristics of Ganoderma lucidum According to Geographical Origins : Consideration of Growth Characteristics(I)

  • Nine species of genus Ganoderma collected in Korea and abroad including Ganoderma lucidum complex and G. lucidum were compared by investigating growth characteristics. In the bottle culture, the mycelial growth periods of G. lucidum from Taiwan and North America was 26 to 30 days compared to that of Korean G. lucidum, which was 30 to 32 days. Cultivation period of Taiwan and North American isolates was 30 to 32 days which were 11 to 17 days shorter than those of Korean isolates. Biological efficiency of Taiwan and North American isolates were ranged from 3.3 to 5.5%, which were apparently lower than that of Korean isolates which ranged from 6.2 to 9.4%. Korean isolates had longer stipes($15{\sim}40$ mm) and more number of pileus($4{\sim}6$/bottle) than those of Taiwan and North American isolates. The G. lucidum isolates collected from Korea will be regarded as the independent species from the G. lucidum collected from Taiwan and North America since, the G. lucidum from Korea showed much different growth characteristics in various aspects compared to the G. lucidum from Taiwan and North America.

커뮤니티가든의 사회적 자본 관점 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Community Garden Based on Social Capital Perspectives)

  • As quality of life improves recently, people began to pay more attention to outdoor environment and outdoor activities. In case of the U.S.A., community garden is utilized as space for plant cultivation and horticulture activities and the space is also used for complex activities such as education, play, leisure and rest. At the same time, such diverse activities are linked with creating social and economic wealth, thus creating sustainable values in the community. This study targets to identify the social and economic effects of community garden. For this purpose, the study analyzes the detailed cases of community gardens in the U.S. and analyzed the contents of the study based on the theory of social capital. In case of Korea, community gardens are operated in the form of urbane farming and parks in most cases but it is desirable in terms of contribution to the community and sustainability to manage the community gardens with space characteristics and programs that set up communities by gathering many residents in the community. It is necessary to approach the matter of community garden comprehensively and to set up comprehensive and complex plans to form community gardens. This study is expected to function as an important base for such purpose.

금강변 저지대 시설원예단지의 침수피해 실태와 개선방안 조사연구 (Investigations on Inundation Damage in Greenhouse Complex Established at Lowlands on the Geumgang Riverside)

  • Investigations on the inundation damage and improvement measures were carried out centering around the protected horticultural complex concentrated in lowlands on the side of Geum river, in Nonsan and Buyeo, Chungnam. Most greenhouses were single-span plastic houses in this area, and tomato, strawberry and watermelon were cultivated mainly. 45.8 % of whole farmhouse were experienced in damage by inundation, and a frequency of the damage was average once in 11 years. The most urgent problem at the greenhouse culture in this area was showed in order of drainage improvement, irrigation water resources and energy saving. Consideration items in drainage improvement project for protected horticulture were showed in order of extending drain pumps, extending drain canals, using concrete flume in drain ditch. It needs to consider systematic plans that can restrain new establishment of greenhouses on the lowland paddy field in drainage area. It is difficult to remove greenhouses which are already established or prohibit cultivation. Therefore we should impose minimum duty items so that greenhouse tillers can cope with inundation. And it is thought that managing agency need to minimize farmers damage by improving drainage ability and introducing maintenance pattern that is different from rice cropping.

  • Soilborne diseases pose a serious problem for mulberry cultivation during nursery plantation and established gardens, which cause severe loss in revenue generation of mulberry growers as compared to foliar diseases. Various soilborne diseases affect mulberry. Among them, root knot and root rot affect the established plantation resulting in severe loss in leaf yield apart from deterioration in leaf quality, which is a pre-requisite in successful sericulture to get the good quality of cocoons. Besides, stem-canker, cutting rot, collar rot and die-back, affect the initial establishment and survivability of mulberry plantation in nursery. The problem is difficult to handle, due to the complex nature of the diseases and also involvement of various biotic and abiotic factors. This is compounded by the occurrence of disease complex (especially nematode + soilborne pathogenic microbes) in established mulberry gardens, which facilitates quick spread of the disease and enhance the plant mortality, resulting substantial loss in leaf yield. Therefore, prevention and timely control measures need to be taken up to protect the mulberry plants from different soilborne plant pathogens. In this review article, symptomatology, epidemiology, disease cycle and control measures of soilborne diseases of mulberry are discussed.

친환경 농법에 따른 논 잡초발생 차이와 벼 수량에 끼치는 영향 (Weed Occurrence and Rice Yield as Affected by Environment Friendly Farming Methods)

  • 친환경 벼 재배를 위한 효과적인 잡초관리 방법을 제시하고자 호남 및 충남지역에 위치한 친환경 농업단지에서 있는 농가포장을 대상으로 잡초 발생 양상, 관리 실태 및 쌀 수량 등을 조사하였다. 친환경 농업지역의 잡초방제 관리실태는 왕우렁이농법> 오리농법> 쌀겨농법> 자라농법 순으로 감소하였다. 친환경 농법별우점 초종은 왕우렁이농법에서 피, 여뀌바늘, 물달개비, 벗풀, 사마귀풀이, 오리농법에서 피, 물달개비, 여뀌바늘, 자귀풀, 미국가막사리가, 쌀겨농법에서 피, 물달개비, 여뀌바늘, 여뀌, 올방개 등이었다. 친환경 농법별 쌀 수량은 제초제 처리 농가($5.2\;MT\;ha^{-1}$)와 비교하여 오리농법 93%, 왕우렁이농법 91%, 쌀겨농법 92%, 자라농법 78%이었다. 쌀 품위 중 완전립율, 사미, 착색립, 동할미, 피해립 등은 관행재배보다 낮았으며, 단백질, 아밀로스, 지방산은 관행재배와 유사하였다. 친환경 농업지구 관리 문제점은 논토양 정지 불균일, 배수관리 소홀, 냉수재배지 등 지형적 불리한 조건으로 잡초가 다발하거나 병해충 발생 및 도복 등으로 인하여 수량이 관행재배 대비 약 32~79%가 감소되었다. 따라서 논에서 친환경 농법으로 재배를 할 경우 지형적으로 불리한 지역에서 친환경 농법은 배제되어야 하며 균평작업을 통하여 토양 표면을 일정하게 유지시키는 것이 매우 중요한 것으로 확인 되었다.

수경재배 시 적산 일사량과 배지 수분 함량 복합 급액 제어에 의한 '설향' 딸기(Fragaria annanassa Dutch. cvs. 'Sulhyang')의 생육 및 품질 (Growth and Quality of the Strawberry (Fragaria annanassa Dutch. cvs. 'Sulhyang') as affected by Complex Nutrient Solution Supplying Control System using Integrated Solar Irradiance and Substrate Moisture Contents in Hydroponics)

  • 우리나라 딸기 재배는 시설 재배로 이루어지고 있으며, 대부분 농가의 급액 관리는 재배자의 경험을 토대로 타이머 제어 방식으로 이루어지고 있다. 타이머 급액 방법은 재배 환경, 작물의 생육 단계, 배지 수분 함량 등을 고려하기 어려워 작물을 최적 수준으로 관리하지 못하고, 급액 관리의 정확성이 결여되는 문제점이 있다. 적산 일사량과 배지 수분함량을 이용한 급액 방법은 작물의 생육 상태에 따라 정밀하게 양액을 공급하는 친환경적인 방법이다. 본 연구는 코이어배지를 이용한 딸기 수경재배에서 적산일사량과 배지 수분함량을 이용한 복합 급액 제어와 타이머 제어 급액 방법을 비교하고 복합 급액 제어 시 최적의 적산 일사량 기준을 설정하고자 수행하였다. 적산일사량 급액 방법은 외부 일사량을 기준으로 100, 150, 250J·cm-2에 도달하면 자동으로 급액하며 배지 수분함량이 60% 미만이면 강제 급액하고, 1회 급액량은 50mL로 공급하였다. 타이머 제어는 대조구로 설정하였다. 급액을 개시하는 적산 일사량 기준이 작을수록 일일급액량이 많았으며 100J·cm-2 기준 급액 시 급액량은 250J·cm-2 처리구 대비 46% 많았다. 지상부 생체중과 건물중 모두 복합 급액 제어 방법이 타이머 제어보다 높았으며, 100, 150J·cm-2 처리구에서 지상부 생체중이 높았고 100J·cm-2 처리구에서 건물중이 유의하게 높은 값을 나타냈다. 수량 또한 타이머 제어 방법보다 복합 제어 방법에서 유의하게 높았으며 적산 일사량 기준이 작을수록 초기 수량이 증가하였다. 평균 과중은 타이머 제어 급액 시 가장 낮았다. 본 연구 결과 딸기의 정밀 급액 관리를 위하여 적산 일사량과 배지 수분 함량 센서를 이용한 복합 제어 활용 가능성을 확인하였다.

황토유황합제의 pH차이에 따른 급성독성평가 (Acute Toxicity Evaluation of Loess-sulfur Complex in different pH)

  • 황토유황합제는 우리나라에서 농작물 생산에 살균살충작용을 가지는 것으로 알려져 친환경유기농자재로 널리 사용되고 있으나, 알칼리성이 강하여 작물에 약해를 보일 뿐 아니라 농업자의 피부 및 안점막에 자극성이 있는 것으로 보고되고 있어 제품으로서의 안전성에 대한 우려가 높다. 본 연구에서는 작물의 약해를 저감하기 위해 pH를 조정하여 제조한 황토유황합제 3종(pH 9, pH 10, pH 11)의 인축 급성독성시험을 시행하여 인체 안전성을 확인함으로써 친환경유기농자재 개발시 최적의 제품 선정에 기초자료로 활용하고자 하였다. 랫드를 이용한 급성경구독성시험 결과 황토유황합제는 $LD_{50}$이 2,000 mg/kg b.w. 이상이었으며, 급성경피독성시험 결과 또한 모두 4,000 mg/kg b.w. 이상인 저자극성으로 분류되었다. 피부 및 안점막자극성 시험 결과에서도 모두 저자극성으로 구분되었으며 pH 9~11 범위에서 제품간 독성분류의 차이는 나타나지 않았다.

Recurrent Neural Network Models for Prediction of the inside Temperature and Humidity in Greenhouse

  • Greenhouse have been developed to provide the plants with good environmental conditions for cultivation crop, two major factors of which are the inside air temperature and humidity. The inside temperature are influenced by the heating systems, ventilators and for systems among others, which in turn are geverned by some type of controller. Likewise, humidity environment is the result of complex mass exchanges between the inside air and the several elements of the greenhouse and the outside boundaries. Most of the existing models are based on the energy balance method and heat balance equation for modelling the heat and mass fluxes and generating dynamic elements. However, greenhouse are classified as complex system, and need to make a sophisticated modeling. Furthermore, there is a difficulty in using classical control methods for complex process system due to the process are non linear and multi-output(MIMO) systems. In order to predict the time evolution of conditions in certain greenhouse as a function, we present here to use of recurrent neural networks(RNN) which has been used to implement the direct dynamics of the inside temperature and inside humidity of greenhouse. For the training, we used algorithm of a backpropagation Through Time (BPTT). Because the environmental parameters are shared by all time steps in the network, the gradient at each output depends not only on the calculations of the current time step, but also the previous time steps. The training data was emulated to 13 input variables during March 1 to 7, and the model was tested with database file of March 8. The RMSE of results of the temperature modeling was $0.976^{\circ}C$, and the RMSE of humidity simulation was 4.11%, which will be given to prove the performance of RNN in prediction of the greenhouse environment.

보리 산물처리에 의한 품질변화와 생력효과 (Effects of Post-Harvest Bulk Management System Using Rice Processing Complex on Labor Saving and Quality of Barley)

  • 보리의 산물처리 확대를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 미곡종합처리장을 이용한 보리 산물처리시 품질변화와 생력효과를 조사 분석한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 1. 정립율은 2.5-2.2mm의 비율이 가장 많았으며, 건조방식에 따른 차이는 없었다. 2. 경도는 건조방식에 따른 차이는 없었고, 색도는 산물건조와 관행인 천일건조와 차이는 없었다. 3. 흡수율은, 고형용출물, 퍼짐성 등의 취반특성은 건조방식에 따른 차이는 없었다. 4. 산물처리에 의하여 관행의 ha당 46시간에 비하여 21시간으로 54.3%의 생력효과가 있었고, 수확 후 관리는 54.3% 생력화되었다. 5. 산물처리로 수확 후 관리노력이 관행에 비하여 ha당 25시간이 절감되어 101,83원의 경영비 절감효과가 있었다.
