The purpose of the study was to stastically classify individual PM-10 measured by SEM/EDX (scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive x-ray analyzer). The SEM/EDX provided various physical parameters like optical diameter, as well as major 18 chemical information (Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Br, Pb) for a particle-by-particle basis. The total of 1,419 particles were analyzed for the study. Thus density and mass of each particle can be estimated based on its chemical composition. Further the study developed 4 semisource profiles including highway, oil boiler, incinerator, and soil emissions, where each sample was collected near the source in the ambient air The profiles developed were consisted of mass fractions and their uncertainties based on a particle class concept. To obtain mass fraction of each particle class, an agglomerative hierarchical cluster analysis was initially applied to create particle classes for each sample. Then uncertainties were calculated for each class based on the jacknife method. The 1,258 particles out of 1,419 (88.7%) were assorted in newly generated particle classes. The study provides opportunities to identify particle's source quantitatively and to develope various receptor models.

We sdudied effect of additives on catalytic activity in thermal catalytic de-NOx process which was composed of thermal reduction, catalytic reduction and catalytic oxidation stage. Pd-Pt/${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ catalysts with the addition of transition metals(Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, W, Zn, Zr) and rare earth metals(Ce, Sr) were prepared by the conventional washcoating method. Those catalysts were characterized by CO pulse chemisorption, ICP, $N_2$ adsorption, SEM and XRD. The effect of catalyst additives on NOx removal for diesel emission was studied in thermal catalytic de-NOx process at reduction temperature(350~50$0^{\circ}C$), space velocity(5,000~20,000 $hr^{-1}$) and the engine load(0~120kW). The concentraton of CO, $CO_2$, NO and $NO_2$ in the exhaust gas increased with the engine load. On the other hand the concentration of $O_2$ decreased. The de-NOx activityof all prepared catalysts increased with respect to high CO and low $O_2$ level in the thermal reduction stage of the process. Insertion of Ce to Pt-Pd/${\gamma}$-$Al_2O_3$ catalyst showed the best activity of all the catalysts under these experimental conditions. De-NOx catalysts are effective to remove CO in addition to NOx in the catalytic reduction stage.
The several glycoside hydrolysing enzymes related to rutin degradation are found to be rhamnosidase, glucosidase and rutinosidase. Rutinosidase was purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from cell extracts of rutin-degrading strain, MT-57, which was identified as a Arthrobacter sp. Its molecular weight was estimated to be 42, 000 by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and 40, 000 by gel filtration. The optimum pH for enzyme was found to be 7.5, and relatively stable in alkaline solution. The optimum temperature for enzyme was $45^{\circ}C$, being stable up to $50^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. The Bm value of enzyme for rutin was 0.5 $\mu \textrm m$. The enzyme activity was increased by the chelating agent such as EDTA, $NaN_3$, and 8-hydroxyquinoline, was strongly inhibited by $CO_{2+}, Ni^{2+}$, and $Cu^{2+}$. The enzyme had high substrate specificity in the rutinoside.

We quantitatively measured the mass transfer from friction surfaces, specifically brake pads and rotors, using laser plasma spectroscopy. Specifically, we modelled the mass transfer from the pad to the rotor and measured the elemental diffusion intensity distribution in the rotor material using laser plasma spectroscopy. The main elements measured were Cu, Ni, Ti, and Cr, and the distribution of these after transfer was measured as the ratio of the atomic peak and the ion peak of the plasma in the rotor exposed to friction and the surface composition of the rotor and the roughness, respectively. We measured and quantified the diffusion coefficient for each element through the mass transfer model and found that Cr obtained the largest diffusion coefficient (D) of the elements measured based on this system with a value of $1.9484{\times}10^{-15}m^2/s$.
Soil contamination by metals is of particular interest, given that their retention times within the profile can be indefinite. Thus, phytostabilization can be viewed as a means of limiting metal toxicity in soils. Due to their ability to grow on contaminated soils, alders have repeatedly been used as key species in phytostabilization efforts. Alder ability to grow on contaminated sites stems, in part, from its association with microbial endophytes. This work emphasizes the fungal endophytes populations associated with Alnus incana ssp. rugosa and Alnus alnobetula ssp. crispa (previously A. viridis ssp. crispa) under a phytostabilization angle. Fungal endophytes were isolated from alder trees that were growing on or near disturbed environments; their tolerances to Cu, Ni, Zn, and As, and acidic pH (4.3, 3, and 2) were subsequently assessed. Cryptosporiopsis spp. and Rhizoscyphus spp. were identified as fungal endophytes of Alnus for the first time. When used as inoculants for alder, some isolates promoted plant growth, while others apparently presented antagonistic relationships with the host plant. This study reports the first step in finding the right fungal endophytic partners for two species of alder used in phytostabilization of metal-contaminated mining sites.
We have fabricated good quality superconducting $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ thin films on Hastelloy(Ni-Cr-Mo alloys) metallic substrate with $CeO_2$ and $BaTiO_3$ buffer layers in-situ by pulsed laser deposition in a multi-target processing chamber. We have chosen $CeO_2$ as a buffer layer which has cubic structure of $5.41{\AA}$ lattice parameter and only 0.2% of lattice mismatch with YBCO. $CeO_2$ layer may be helpful for power transmission due to its conducting property. In order to enhance the crystallization of YBCO films on metallic substrates. we deposited $CeO_2$ and $BaTiO_3$ buffer layers at various temperatures. The YBCO superconducting tape fabricated with $BaTiO_3$ and $CeO_2$ buffer layers shows 85K of transition temperature and about $8.4{\times}10^4A/cm^2$ of critical current density at 77K.

Recently, mesoporous metallic materials are becoming more and more important in various applications like catalysts, electrochemical detectors, batteries, and fuel cells because of their high surface area. Among the various methods for manufacturing mesoporous structure, surfactant templating method followed by electroplating has been tried in this study. A mesoporous metallic film was prepared by electrodeposition from electroplating solution mixed with surfactant template. Nonionic type lyotropic liquid crystalline surfactant, Brij56, and nickel acetate based solution were selected as a template material and electroplating solution, respectively. To determine the content of surfactant forming a hexagonal column structure, the phase diagram of electroplating solution and surfactant mixture has been exploited by polarized optical microscopy equipped with heating and cooling stage. Nickel films were electroplated on Cu foil by stepwise potential input method to alleviate the concentration polarization occurred during the electroplating process. TEM and XRD analyses were performed to characterize the size and shape of mesostructures in manufactured nickel films, and electrochemical characterization was also carried out using cyclic voltammetry.

Hybrid solar cells have intensively studied in recent years due to their advantages such as cost effectiveness and possibility of applications in flexible and transparent devices. It is critical to fabricate individual layer composed of organic and inorganic materials in the hybrid solar cell at low cost. Therefore, it is required to manufacture cheaply and enhance the photon-to-electricity conversion efficiency of each layer in the flexible solar cell industry. In this research, we fabricated pure Cu metal mesh electrode prepared by using electroplating and/or electroless plating on the Ni mold which was manufacture through photolithography, electroforming, and polishing process. Copper mesh was formed on the surface of nickel metal working master when pulsed electrolytic copper deposition were performed at various plating parameters such as plating time, current density, and so on. After electrodeposition at 2ASD for 5~30seconds, the line/pitch/thickness of copper mesh sheet was $1.8{\sim}2.0/298/0.5{\mu}m$.

Large-size ceramic/metal bulk FGMs have been fabricated on a recently developed and the world's largest Spark Plasma Sintering(SPS) systems, As a part of the development program for practical production processes and machines for FGMs by SPS, the processes, mechanical properties, dimensional size and shape effects, and production machine systems were investigated. In the past, $ZrO_{2}$/TiAI, $ZrO_{2}$/Ni, $Al_{2}O_{3}$/Ti, WC/Co, WC/Co/Steel, A1/P, Polymide, Cu/Polymide, nano-composites, porous and other combinations of bulk FGMs have already been processed using SPS. However, most of the specimen sizes were small, in a range of 20 to 30mm in diameter. Recently disk-shape sintered compacts with diameters of 100 and 150 mm, and thickness of approximately 15 and 17 mm, $ZrO_{2}$(3Y)/ stainless steel FGMs were homogenous consolidated in a shorter sintering time, while maintaining high quality and repeatability by utilizing a temperature gradient sintering method. The SPS heating up and holding time totaled less than one hour. Therefore, the SPS process in expected to find increased use in the fabrication of large-size FGMs as a new industrial processing technology. This paper introduces SPS systems, the processing principles, features and the characteristies of ceramic/metal bulk FGM.
Shiff Base ligand such as [NOIPH] have been synthesized from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and arometic amine. Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes from the reaction metal salts with Tridentate Schiff Base [NOIPH] were sythesized. The ligand and metal(II) complexes were characterized by the elementary analysis, IR, UV-Vis, NMR spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. Metal(II) complexes in solid state have been shown that the mole raio of Schiff base [NOIPH] as $N_2O$ type to Metal(II) is 2:1 and the metal(II) complexes of $N_2O$ ligand type were four-coordinated configuration.
