This study was carried out to examine the heavy metal concentrations in soils under roadside trees and tree ring layers, and to investigate the relationship between heavy metal concentrations and tree ring growth of roadside trees in Seoul. Soil samples at $0{\sim}20\;cm$ depth and tree line were collected from Platanus occidentalis and Ginkgo biloba at nine streets, and pH and heavy Metal concentrations were analyzed. Soil pH ranged from 6.62 to 8.01 and soil heavy metal concentrations under roadside trees were higher (Zn 109.03, Pb 26.49 and Cu 44.98 mg/kg) compared with those of the referred forest soils. Soils at Cheonggye2ga street showed the highest heavy metal concentrations, and seemed to be related to heavy traffic and dense hardware stores. Tree ring width significantly decreased from 1979 through 2000 for both species. There were positive correlations between Cr, Pb and Cu concentrations in soils and tree ring layers for P. occidentalis and Ni for G. biloba. However, there were negative correlations between Cr concentration in tree ring layers and tree ring width for P. occidentalis, and Ni and Cu for G. biloba. Also there were no significant correlations between climatic factors in Seoul and tree ring width.

Copper Phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films were fabricated on the silicon wafers by plasma activated evaporation method and structural analysis were carried out with various spectroscopies. The CuPc films had dense and smooth morphology and they also showed good mechanical properties and chemical resistance. The main molecular structure of the CuPc, which is the conjugated aromatic heterocyclic ring structure, was maintained even in the plasma process. However, metal-ligand (Cu-N) bands were deformed by the plasma process and the structure became amorphous especially at higher process pressures. Oxygen impurities were incorporated in the film and carboxyl functional groups were formed at the peripheral benzene ring. The structure and morphology of the films were dependent on the process pressure but relatively irrespective of the RF power.
Cu(II) hexaazamacrotricyclic complexes $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2$ and $[(Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$, where L = 1,3,6,9,11,14-hexaazatricyclo$[12.2.1.1^{6,9}]octadecane(L_1)$ or 1,3,6,10,12,15-hexaazatricyclo$[13.3.1.1^{6,10}]eicosane(L_2)$, have been prepared by the simple template condensation reactions of triamines, diethylenetriamine for $L_1$, and N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,3-propanediamine for $L_2$, with formaldehyde in the presence of $Cu(OAc)_2\;or\;CuCl_2$. The Cu(II) complexes of $L_1$ contain two 1,3-diazacyclopentane ring moieties and those of $L_2$ contain two 1,3-diazacyclohexane ring moieties that are fused to the 14-membered macrocyclic framework. Spectra indicate that complexes $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2\;and\;[Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$ have square-planar and square-pyramidal chromophores, respectively. square-planar $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2$ are remarkably stable against ligand dissociation in acidic aqueous solutions. Square-pyramidal $[Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$ complexes dissociate their axial Cl-ligands easily in aqueous solutions to form $[Cu(L)H_2O]^{2+}$ species. Infrared and UV/vis absorption spectra of the Cu(II) complexes reveal that Cu-N interactions and the ligand field strengths are significantly weaker in the complexes of $L_2$ than in the complexes of $L_1$.
Effect of Cd addition on the stress corrosion cracking(SCC) resistance of Al-Cu-Mn cast alloy was investigated by C-ring test and electrical conductivity measurement. With increasing Cd contents, the electrical conductivity and the SCC resistance were increased. The PFZ and coarse precipitates along the grain boundary were observed from TEM micrographs. The fracture made of the alloys was confirmed as intergranular type and showed brittle fracture surface. As a result, it was concluded that the SCC mechanism of these alloys is the anodic dissolution model. The maximum hardness was increased from 127Hv in the Cd-free alloy to 138∼145Hv in the Cd addition alloys.

New nickel(II) and coppr(II) complexes of a saturated pentaaza macrobicyclic ligand $[Ni(D)]^{2+},\;[Cu(D)]^{2+},\;and\;[Cu(D)Cl]^+$, where D is 1,3,6,9,12-pentaazabicyclo[10,2,l]pentadecane, have been prepared by the template condensation reaction of tetraethylenepentamine and formaldehyde in the presence of the metal ion. The complexes contain one imidazolidine ring in the macrobicyclic ligand, D. The complexes $[Ni(D)]^{2+}\;and\;[Cu(D)]^{2+}$ have square planar geometry with 5-5-5-6 chelate ring sequence. The electronic spectra of $[Cu(D)Cl]^+$indicate that the complex has square pyramidal geometry. Synthesis, charactrization, and the spectroscopic and chemical properties of the macrobicyclic nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes are described.
The EPR absorption of furan compounds adsorbed on CuY zeolite was studied. With the adsorption of furan on CuY a new high field having a width of 8 gauss and g-factor of 2.002 appeared in EPR spectrum, while the original signal of Cu(Ⅱ) decreased. When 2-methylfuran was adsorbed on Cu(15)Y a new absorption band with a hyperfine structure appeared. With the increase of the degree of Cu(Ⅱ) ion exchange the resolution of the hyperfine structure became poor. The appearance of the new band was interpreted in terms of the formation of a charge transfer complex between Cu(Ⅱ) ion and the furan ring.
Tetradentate Schiff base ligands derived from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and aliphatic diamine have been synthesized. Cu(Ⅱ) complexes of Schiff base ligands have been synthesized from the free ligands and copper acetate. The mole ratio of ligand to copper was identified to be 1:1 by the result of elemental analysis and Cu(Ⅱ) complexes were in a four-coordinated configuration. The electrochemical redox process of Cu(Ⅱ) complexes in a DMF solution has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry, and controlled potential coulometry. The redox process of Cu(Ⅱ) complexes is one electron transfer process in quasi-reversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. The electrochemical redox potentials and the kinetic parameters of Cu(Ⅱ) complexes are affected by the chelate ring of Schiff base ligands.

Solder bump was electroplated on wafer for flip chip application. The process is as follows. Ti/Cu were sputtered and thick PR was formed by several coating PR layer. Fine pitch vias were opened using via mask and then Cu stud and solder bump were electroplated. Finally solder bump was formed by reflow process. In this paper, we opened 40㎛ vias on 57㎛ thick PR layer and electroplated solder bump with 70㎛ height and 40㎛ diameter. After reflow process, we could form solder bump with 53㎛ height and 43㎛ diameter. In plating process, we improved the plating uniformity within 3% by using ring contact instead of conventional multi-point contact.
Template condensation reaction of diethylenetriamine, ethylenediamine, methylamine, and formaldehyde in the presence of Ni(II) or Cu(II) ion yields new saturated hexaaza macrobicyclic complexes $[Ni(C)]^{2+}\;and\;[Cu(C)]^{2+}$, where C is 8-methyl-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazabicyclo[11,2,1]hexad ecane. The macrobicyclic complexes contain one 1,3-diazacyclopentane ring and one methyl pendant arm in the ligand C and have square planar geometry with 5-6-5-6 chelate ring sequence. Synthesis, characterization, and the properties of the macrobicyclic complexes are described.
