유연성 스테인레스와 폴리이미드 기판에서 제조된 CIGS 박막 태양전지의 효율 개선 및 특성 연구

  • Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) 박막 태양전지는 높은 효율과 낮은 제조비용, 높은 신뢰성으로 인해 박막 태양전지 중 가장 각광받고 있다. 특히 유리기판 대신 가볍고 유연한 철강소재나 플라스틱 소재를 이용하여 발전분야 외에 건물일체형, 수송용, 휴대용등 다양한 분야에 적용이 가능하다. 이러한 유연 기판을 이용한 CIGS 태양전지의 개발을 위해서는 기판의 특성에 따른 다양한 공정개발이 선행되어야 한다. 특히 CIGS 태양전지에서는 Na의 역할이 매우 중요한데 유연기판의 경우 이러한 Na이 없을 뿐만 아니라 철강기판의 경우 Fe, Ni, Cr등의 불순물이 확산되어 흡수층의 특성을 저하시켜 효율을 감소시킨다. 따라서 이러한 철강 기판의 경우 불순물의 확산을 방지하는 확산방지막이 필수적이다. 또한 플라스틱기판의 경우 내열성이 낮아 저온에서 공정을 진행해야하는 단점이 있다. 이러한 유연기판의 특성을 고려하여 본 연구에서는 유연기판으로 STS 430 stainless steel과 poly-imide를 이용하여 특성 개선을 진행하였다. 먼저 stainless steel과 Poly-imide, soda-lime glass, coning glass의 기판을 이용하여 기판에 따른 흡수층의 특성을 비교 분석하였으며 stainless steel 기판을 이용하여 확산 방지막의 유무 및 두께에 따른 흡수층 및 소자의 특성을 분석하였다. 이때 확산 방지막은 기존 TCO 공정에서 사용되는 i-ZnO를 사용하였으며 RF sputter를 이용하여 50~200nm로 두께를 달리하며 특성 비교를 실시하였다. 이때 효율은 확산방지막을 적용하지 않았을 때 약 5.9%에서 확산 방지막 적용시 약 10.6%로 증가하였다. 또한 poly-imide 기판을 이용하여 $400^{\circ}C$이하에서 흡수층을 제조하여 특성평가를 진행하였으며 소자 제조 후 효율은 약 12.2%를 달성하였다. 모든 흡수층은 Co-Evaporation 방법을 이용하여 제조하였으며 제조된 흡수층은 SEM, XRF, XRD, GD-OES, PL, Raman등을 이용하여 분석하였으며 그 외 일반적인 방법을 이용하여 Mo, CdS, TCO, Al grid를 제조하였다. AR 코팅은 제외 하였으며 제조된 소자는 솔라 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 효율 특성 분석을 실시하였으며 Q.E. 분석을 실시하였다.

  • 건물일체형 태양전지 (BIPV; building integrated photovoltaics)나 야외 태양광 발전 차양 등의 태양광 발전에는 기존의 유리 기판 태양전지보다 가볍고 유연한 flexible 박막 태양전지가 설치하고 운영하는데 적합하다. 이러한 flexible 박막 태양전지는 자동차나 휴대기기의 전원이나 배터리의 충전기기로도 쓰이며 그 수요가 증가 추세에 있다. 특히, flexible Cu(In, Ga)$Se_2$(CIGS) 박막 태양전지는 기존의 flexible 실리콘 박막 태양전지보다 효율이 높아서 앞으로 성장 잠재력이 매우 높다. 세계적으로도 많은 기업이 상용화를 추진하고 있으며, 2007년부터 시장에 진입하고 있다. 그러나 현재의 flexible CIGS 박막 태양전지는 유리 기판 CIGS 박막 태양전지보다 효율이 낮고 패키지를 유리에서 플라스틱으로 대체하기 때문에 수명이 짧다. 또한, 아직도 완전한 양산 체제로 전환이 이루어지지 않았기 때문에 해결해야 할 문제점이 많이 있다. Flexible 기판으로는 스테인리스 스틸이나 폴리머 기판이 사용되는데, 유리 기판에 비해 저가 태양전지를 제조할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 roll-to-roll 공정을 적용할 수 있어 가격 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있다. 특히, 금속 유연기판을 사용할 경우, 유리 기판에 비해 상대적으로 고온 공정이 가능한 장점이 있다. 그러나, 금속 기판을 사용할 경우 해결해야 할 두 가지 이슈가 있다. 첫째, CIGS 흡수층 형성에 도움을 주는 Na의 공급 문제이다. 유리 기판의 경우 기판에 포함되어 있는 Na이 확산을 통해 공급되지만, 금속 기판의 경우 별도의 Na 공급 방법을 고려해야 한다. 둘째, 불순물 확산 방지막 및 전기 절연층으로 사용되는 유전체 박막의 문제이다. 현재 다양한 금속 산화물 유전체 박막을 사용한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 flexible CIGS 박막 태양전지의 기술적 이슈 및 현재 연구 현황을 살펴보고, 스테인리스 스틸 기판을 이용한 CIGS 박막 태양전지에서 유전체 확산 방지막에 따른 특성을 비교하고자 한다. 스테인리스 스틸 기판의 불순물로부터의 확산을 방지하기 위하여 두 종류(intrinsic ZnO와 SiOx)의 유전체 박막을 각각 Na가 도핑된 Mo층과 스테인리스 스틸 기판 사이에 삽입하여 소자를 제작하였다. 확산 방지막이 없는 경우, SiOx층을 사용한 경우, 그리고 intrinsic ZnO 층을 사용한 경우에, 효율은 각각 7.47, 11.64, and 13.95%로 나타났다. 셀의 크기는 $0.47\;cm^2$이고, 반사방지막은 사용하지 않았다.

Adrenal and Testicular Androgens in Serum of Men after Physical Endurance Training (격심한 운동후 남성 혈청 내 부신 및 정소 Androgen 변화)

  • Recently many studies have reported that total and bioavailable androgens reduced in male and female athletes and that physical exercise reduces the body weight and increases the reproductive abnormalities such as oligomenorrhea, anovulation, inadequate luteal phase, and delayed puberty in women by the inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis . In addition, high mileage endurance 겨nning, psychological stress, and military endurance training in men also reduce the secretion of reproductive hormones. To investigate the efffcts of physical endurance exercise on the secretion of reproductive hormones in men, androgenic hormones from adrenal glands and testis were measured in serum by the conventional radioimmunoassays after long-term (more than3 months), short-term (1 week), and acute (1${sim}$2 hours) physical exercises. Androgenic hormones from adrenal glands and testis such as total testosterone (TT), free testosterone (fT), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and androstenedione (A) decreased after thesestrenuous endurance trainings, whereas ACTH, cortisol, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfetes (DHEAS) increased. Conadotropins (LH and FSH) were not idluenced by the physical exercises. Based upon the present results, we assume that the decrease in adrenal and testicular androgens by physical endurance exercises might be associated with the reproductive abnormalities in athletes by unknown factor(s) in addition to the HPG axis disturbance.

Comparative Analysis on the Invertebrate Biodiversity between Organic and Conventional Agriculture Fields (유기 및 관행농법 농경지의 무척추동물 생물다양성 비교)

  • Although some skeptical views arguing that the impact of organic farming is quite limited to sustainable biodiversity, the organic agriculture has been generally accepted to have positive effects on various properties of soils not only on biophysical and ecological properties but also on biodiversity of the field. Therefore, this field investigation has been conducted to examine the effect of organic farming, relative to conventional agriculture, through a comparative investigations of the two systems for conserving local biodiversity of invertebrate animals. For this research, organic and conventional farming locations matched with both of a paddy field and a upland fields in Goesan-gun province (Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea) were selected to compare the species richness of invertebrate biodiversity as follows: location OP (Organic Paddy field), location OU (Organic Upland field), location CP (Conventional Paddy field), and location CU (Conventional Upland field). Among 249 species collected, the numbers of species collected in the locations practicing organic farming were greater than the locations practicing conventional farming both in paddy fields (104 vs. 84 species) and upland fields (108 vs. 77 species). Changes in species richness can be shown in the selected locations depending on the agriculture system with organic (50 species) or conventional (44 species) farming systems in the paddy fields, similarly with organic (42 species) or conventional (35 species) farming in the upland fields, respectively. Our present research clearly shows that a wide range of taxa, including insects, spiders and other invertebrates, benefit from organic management through increases in abundance or species richness. It has been also identified that four orders (Hemiptera, Diptera, Hynemoptera, and Araneae) that are largely intrinsic to organic paddy field, and another three orders (Hemiptera, Coleoptera, and Araneae) that are particularly beneficial for organic crop field regime.

Oxidative Stress Inhibitory Effects of Low Temperature-Aged Garlic (Allium sativum L.) Extracts through Free Radical Scavenging Activity (저온숙성마늘의 라디칼 소거 활성을 통한 산화스트레스 억제 효과)

  • Garlic has drawn attention as a food material for its anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties as well as for prevention and treatment of cancer. In order to increase efficiency, various aging methods for garlic have been attempted. In particular, thermally processed garlic is known to have higher biological activities due to its various chemical changes during heat treatment. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the anti-oxidative effects of garlic extracts aged at low temperature ($60{\sim}70^{\circ}C$). In the results, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonate) radical scavenging activities and ferric reducing ability of low temperature-aged garlic (LTAG) were similar to those of raw garlic. LTAG also showed decreased lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced production of reactive oxygen species, although there were not significant differences among samples. In addition, xanthine oxidase activity was inhibited by LTAG; the 15 days and $60^{\circ}C$ extract showed outstanding inhibition compared with the others. To understand the molecular mechanisms behind the anti-oxidative activity of LTAG, we performed quantitative real-time PCR analysis. The 30 days and $70^{\circ}C$ extract upregulated mRNA expression of antioxidant enzymes such as Cu/Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD), Mn-SOD, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. This result indicates that LTAG can be a functional food as a nature antioxidant and antioxidant substance.

A Thermodynamic Investigation into the Stabilization of Poly(dA).[poly(dT)]2 Triple Helical DNA by Various Divalent Metal Ions

  • Effects of representative group II and transition metal ions on the stability of the $poly(dA){\cdot}[poly(dT)]_2$ triplex were investigated by the van’t Hoff plot constructed from a thermal melting curve. The transition, $poly(dA){\cdot}[poly(dT)]_2\;{\rightarrow}\;poly(dA){\cdot}poly(dT)\;+\;poly(dT)$, was non-spontaneous with a positive Gibb’s free energy, endothermic (${\Delta}H^{\circ}$ > 0), and had a favorable entropy change (${\Delta}S^{\circ}$ > 0), as seen from the negative slope and positive y-intercept in the van’t Hoff plot. Therefore, the transition is driven by entropy change. The $Mg^{2+}$ ion was the most effective at stabilization of the triplex, with the effect decreasing in the order of $Mg^{2+}\;>\;Ca^{2+}\;>\;Sr^{2+}\;>\;Ba^{2+}$. A similar stabilization effect was found for the duplex to single strand transition: $poly(dA){\cdot}poly(dT)\;+\;poly(dT)\;→\;poly(dA)\;+\;2poly(dT)$, with a larger positive free energy. The transition metal ions, namely $Ni_{2+},\;Cu_{2+},\;and\;Zn_{2+}$, did not exhibit any effect on triplex stabilization, while showing little effect on duplex stabilization. The different effects on triplex stabilization between group II metal ions and the transition metal ions may be attributed to their difference in binding to DNA; transition metals are known to coordinate with DNA components, including phosphate groups, while group II metal ions conceivably bind DNA via electrostatic interactions. The $Cd_{2+}$ ion was an exception, effectively stabilizing the triplex and melting temperature of the third strand dissociation was higher than that observed in the presence of $Mg_{2+}$, even though it is in the same group with $Zn_{2+}$. The detailed behavior of the $Cd_{2+}$ ion is currently under investigation.

Electrochemical Characteristics of LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 Spinel as 5 V Class Cathode Material for Lithium Secondary Batteries (5V급 고전압 양극 LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 Spinel의 제조와 전기화학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, many researches on the high-voltage 5 V class cathode material have focused on $LiNi_{0.5}Mn_{1.5}O_4$, where $Mn^{3+}$ in the existing $LiMn_2O_4 (Li[Mn^{3+}][Mn^{4+}]O_4)$ is replaced by $Ni^{2+}(Li[Ni^{2+}]_{0.5}[Mn^{4+}]_{1.5}O_4)$ in order to utilize $Ni^{2+}/Ni^{4+}$ redox reaction in the 5V region. The partial substitution of Mn in $LiMn_2O_4$ for other transition metal element, $LiM_yMn_{1-y}O_4$(M=Cr, Al, Ni, Fe, Co, Cu, Ga etc) is known as a good solution to overcome the problems associated with $LiMn_2O_4$ like the gradual capacity fading. In this study, we synthesized $LiNi_{0.5}Mn_{1.5}O_4$ through a mechanochemical process and investigated its morphological, crystallographic and electrochemical characteristics. The results showed that 4 V peaks had been found in the cyclic volammograms of the synthesized powders due to the existence of $Mn^{3+}$ from the incomplete substitution of $Ni^{2+}$ for $Mn^{3+}$ implying that the mechanochemical activation alone was not good enough to synthesize an exact stoichiometric compound of $LiNi_{0.5}Mn_{1.5}O_4$. The synthetic condition of mechanochemical process, such as type of starting materials, ball-mill and calcination condition was optimized for the best electrochemical performance.
