Durability of Co-P-B/Cu Catalyst for NaBH4 Hydrolysis Reaction (NaBH4 가수분해용 Co-P-B/Cu 촉매의 내구성)

  • Sodium borohydride, $NaBH_4$, shows a number of advantages as hydrogen source for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The durability of Co-P-B/Cu catalyst for sodium borohydride hydrolysis reaction was studied. The effect of reaction temperature, $NaBH_4$ concentration, NaOH concentration and calcination temperature of catalyst on the durability of Co-P-B/Cu catalyst were measured. The gel formed during hydrolysis reaction affected the durability of catalyst (loss of catalyst). Formation of gel increased the loss of the catalyst. When $NaBH_4$ concentration was high and reaction temperature was higher than $60^{\circ}C$, loss of catalyst was low because gel was not formed. But under the temperature of $40^{\circ}C$, loss of catalyst increased due to gel formation When $NaBH_4$ concentration was 40 weight % and the reaction temperature was $40^{\circ}C$, the loss of catalyst increased as the NaOH concentration increased. As the calcination temperature of catalyst decreased, the loss of catalyst decreased and the activity of catalyst decreased. Calcination of the catalyst at high temperature enhanced the durability of catalyst but diminished the activity of catalyst.

SUPERSTRUCTURES OF Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O SUPERCONDUTORS (Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O계열 초전도체의 초구조)

  • The x-ray powtler pattern of single phase $Bi_2S_2CaCu_2O_{8+x}$ has been identified and fullyindexed using a pseudotetragonal subcell with a= 5.408, c = 30.83 $\AA$ and an incommensurate supercellwith reciprocal lattice vector, X$q^*$, given by $q^*=0.211b^*-c^*$. The x -ray powder pattern of the Pb-free110K superconductor phase "$Bi_2S_2CaCu_2O_{10+x}$" has many lines which belong t.o an incommensuratesupercell. Using elect.ron d~ffraction pImt.ographs as a indexing guide, an indexing scheme for the powderpattern has been obtained. The unit cell has a geometrically orthorhombic subcell a=5.411, b= 5.420, c=37.29(2) $\AA$. Supercell reflections have indices that are derived from the subcell k, 1 indices by addition uf$\pm q^*$, where $\pm q^*=0.211b^*-0.78c^*$The incommensurate con~ponent In the b dwection, $\delta$, is the same for both phases but on going from2212 to 2223 phase, the superlattic component in the c direction changes from commensurate($\varepsilon$=1) toincommensurate($\varepsilon$=0.78).X>$\varepsilon$=0.78).

  • $Cu_{0.9}Ni_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ has been studied with Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure is found to be a cubic spinel with the lattice constant $a_0=8.386{\AA}$. The Curie temperature is determined to be $T_c=755K$ for a heating rate of 5 K/ min. The Mossbauer spectra consist of two six-line patterns corresponding to $Fe^{3+}$ at the tetrahedral(A) and octahedral(B) sites. Debye temperatures for A and B sites are found to be 568 k and 194 K, respectively. Atomic migration of $Cu_{0.9}Ni_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ begins near 350 K and increases rapidly with increasing temperature such a degree that 71% of the ferric ions as A sites have moved over to the B sites at 550 K.

  • [ $BaO-Sm_2O_3-4TiO_2$ ] 세라믹을 LTCC용 재료로 사용하기 위해 $B_2O_3$와 CuO를 소결조제로 첨가하여 소결온도를 낮추었다. 10.0 mol%의 $B_2O_3$만을 첨가하였을 경우 $1000^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결시 er=72.23, Qf=4,050GHz, ${\tau}f=-0.574ppm/^{\circ}C$의 우수한 유전 특성값을 얻을 수 있었지만, $960^{\circ}C$이하에서는 소결이 잘 이루어지지 않았다. $B_2O_3$와 CuO를 동시에 소결조제로 첨가하였을 경우에는 $900^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결시 10.0 mol% $B_2O_3$, 15.0 mol% CuO의 첨가조성에서 ${\varepsilon}r$=70.09, Qf=4,728GHz의 우수한 유전특성을 보여 고유전율을 가진 저온 동시 소결용 재료로서의 가능성을 보여주었다. 이처럼 BaO-$Sm_2O_3-4TiO_2$ 세라믹의 소결온도를 낮출 수 있었던 요인은 소결온도보다 용융점이 낮은 2차상들이 액상을 형성하여 액상소결이 진행되었기 때문이며 이때 소결에 기여한 이차상들은 결정화되지 못하고 비정질 상태로 남아있는 것으로 추정된다.

  • A known $Hg^{2+}$ selective rhodamine B derivatised probe 1 was reinvestigated as a colorimetric and fluorescent probe for $Cu^{2+}$ through changing the applied solvent media. Probe 1 exhibited good selectivity and sensitivity to $Cu^{2+}$ in $CH_3CN-H_2O$ (7:3, v/v, HEPES 10 mM, pH 7.0) solution with a detection limit of $9.74{\times}10^{-7}$ M. The $Cu^{2+}$ sensing event was proved to be irreversible through hydrolysis of 1 to release rhodamine B.

Structural Study of 90K Superconductor Gd1Ba2Cu3O9-x (90K 초전도체 Gd1Ba2Cu3O9-x의 구조에 관한 연구)

  • Gd1Ba2Cu3O9-x has been found to be a high Tc superconductor with a transitiion onset at 91K and zero resistance achieved at 87K. The structure as determined from x-ray diffraction is orthorhombic, with lattice constants b=3.842$\pm$0.002$\AA$, b=3.895$\pm$0.003$\AA$, and c=11.684$\pm$0.007$\AA$. The structural similarities between the Gd1Ba2Cu3O9-x compound and the well-studied single phase perovskite, Y1Ba2Cu3O9-x are discussed. A correlation between the observed x-ray spectrum and the effect of oxygen deficiencies in several of the unit cell planes is also discussed.

  • The correlation between electrical conduction and dielectric relaxation properties of copper ion conducting glasses is discussed. The glasses were prepared in the system $CuI-Cu_2S-Cu_2O-MoO_3$ using rapid quenching technique. These glasses have high ionic conductivities at room temperature in the range of $10^{\circ}$[S/m], and the conductivities increase with increasing CuI content. The activation energies for conduction are 0.26 - 0.57 eV. The dielectric relaxation times are 1 - 10uS, and the activation energy for ion jumping are 0.18 - 0.41eV. It is shown that the tendency of conduction properties depending on composition of the glass is similar those of dilectric relaxation.
