Mobile environments are evolving the main communication environment as a develops of communication technology. In mobile environments, sensitive information can be compromised on-line, so demand for security has increased. Also, mobile devices that provide various services are in danger from malware and illegal devices, phishing and sniffing etc, and the privacy. Therefore, MTM(Mobile Trusted Module) is developed and promoted by TCG(Trusted Computing Group), which is an industry standard body to enhance the security level in the mobile computing environment. MTM protects user privacy and platform integrity, because it is embedded in the platform, and it is physically secure. However, a security approach is required when secret data is migrated elsewhere, because MTM provides strong security functions. In this paper, we analyze the TCG standard and migration method for cryptographic key, then we propose a secure migration scheme for cryptographic key using key Backup/Recovery method.
Internet of Things (IoT) connects devices with various platforms, computing power, and functions. Due to the diversity of networks and the ubiquity of IoT devices, demands for security and privacy are increasing. Therefore, cryptographic mechanisms must be strong enough to meet these increased requirements, while at the same time effective enough to be implemented in devices with long-range specifications. In this paper, we present the performance and memory limitations of modern cryptographic primitives and schemes for different types of devices that can be used in IoT. In addition, detailed performance evaluation of the performance of the most commonly used encryption algorithms in low-spec devices frequently used in IoT networks is performed. To provide data protection, the binary ring uses encryption asymmetric fully homomorphic encryption and symmetric encryption AES 128-bit. As a result of the experiment, it can be seen that the IoT device had sufficient performance to implement a symmetric encryption, but the performance deteriorated in the asymmetric encryption implementation.

In this paper, the possibility of using a contactless smart card as a cache for geocaching is analyzed. Geocaching is an outdoor game in which players search for hidden boxes, or caches based on geographical coordinates. The problems with this game are the possibility of players cheating and the need to maintain the caches. And then there is the problem of the ignorant public accidentally discovering a cache and considering it an explosive device. This paper proposes a concept for a possible solution to the above problems by replacing the boxes with conventional contactless smart cards. Also, this concept makes geocaching more attractive by using various games. This paper proposes a system architecture as well as the cryptographic protocol required for secure communication between the player's smartphone and the card.

Recently, the number of mobile ransomware types has increased. Moreover, the number of cases of damage caused by mobile ransomware is increasing. Representative damage cases include encrypting files on the victim's smart device or making them unusable, causing financial losses to the victim. This study classifies ransomware apps by analyzing several representative ransomware apps to identify trends in the malicious behavior of ransomware. We present a technique for recovering from the damage, from a digital forensic perspective, using reverse engineering ransomware apps to analyze vulnerabilities in malicious functions applied with various cryptographic technologies. Our study found that ransomware applications are largely divided into three types: locker, crypto, and hybrid. In addition, we presented a method for recovering the damage caused by each type of ransomware app using an actual case. This study is expected to help minimize the damage caused by ransomware apps and respond to new ransomware apps.

In this paper, we describe a hardware design of the SIMECK block cipher algorithm that can be implemented in lightweight hardware with appropriate security strength. To achieve fast encryption and decryption operations, it was designed using two-step method that reduces the number of operation rounds. The designed SIMECK cryptographic core was implemented in Arty S7-50 FPGA device and its hardware operation was verified with a GUI using Python.

This paper describes a dual-standard cryptographic processor that efficiently integrates two block ciphers ARIA and AES into a unified hardware. The ARIA-AES crypto-processor was designed to support 128-b and 256-b key sizes, as well as four modes of operation including ECB, CBC, OFB, and CTR. Based on the common characteristics of ARIA and AES algorithms, our design was optimized by sharing hardware resources in substitution layer and in diffusion layer. It has on-the-fly key scheduler to process consecutive blocks of plaintext/ciphertext without reloading key. The ARIA-AES crypto-processor that was implemented with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library occupies 54,658 gate equivalents (GEs), and it can operate up to 95 MHz clock frequency. The estimated throughputs at 80 MHz clock frequency are 787 Mbps, 602 Mbps for ARIA with key size of 128-b, 256-b, respectively. In AES mode, it has throughputs of 930 Mbps, 682 Mbps for key size of 128-b, 256-b, respectively. The dual-standard crypto-processor was verified by FPGA implementation using Virtex5 device.

In this paper, the block cipher algorithms, 3-DES(Triple Data Encryption Standard), AES(Advanced Encryption Standard), SEED, HASH(SHA-1), which are domestic and international standards, have been implemented as an integrated cryptographic engine for smart card applications. For small area and low power design which are essential requirements for portable devices, arithmetic resources are shared for iteration steps in each algorithm, and a two-level clock gating technique was used to reduce the dynamic power consumption. The integrated cryptographic engine was verified with ALTERA Excalbur EPXA10F1020C device, requiring 7,729 LEs(Logic Elements) and 512 Bytes ROM, and its maximum clock speed was 24.83 MHz. When designed by using Samsung 0.18 um STD130 standard cell library, the engine consisted of 44,452 gates and had up to 50 MHz operation clock speed. It was estimated to consume 2.96 mW, 3.03 mW, 2.63 mW, 7.06 mW power at 3-DES, AES, SEED, SHA-1 modes respectively when operating at 25 MHz clock. We found that it has better area-power optimized structure than other existing designs for smart cards and various embedded security systems.
The existing smart grid device authentication system is concentrated on DCU, meter reading FEP and MDMS, and the authentication system for smart meters is not established. Although some cryptographic chips have been developed at present, it is difficult to complete the PKI authentication scheme because it is at the low level of simple encryption. Unlike existing power grids, smart grids are based on open two-way communication, increasing the risk of accidents as information security vulnerabilities increase. However, PKI is difficult to apply to smart meters, and there is a possibility of accidents such as system shutdown by sending manipulated packets and sending false information to the operating system. Issuing an existing PKI certificate to smart meters with high hardware constraints makes authentication and certificate renewal difficult, so an ultra-lightweight password authentication protocol that can operate even on the poor performance of smart meters (such as non-IP networks, processors, memory, and storage space) was designed and implemented. As a result of the experiment, lightweight cryptographic authentication protocol was able to be executed quickly in the Cortex-M3 environment, and it is expected that it will help to prepare a more secure authentication system in the smart grid industry.

The international standard signature algorithm DSA has been guaranteed its security based on discrete logarithm problem. Recently, the DSA was known to be vulnerable to some fault analysis attacks in which the secret key stored inside of the device can be extracted by occurring some faults when the device performs signature algorithm. After analyzing an existing fault attack presented by Bao et al., this paper proposed a new fault analysis attack by disturbing the random number. Furthermore, we presented a countermeasure to compute DSA signature that has its immunity in the two types of fault attacks. The security and efficiency of the proposed countermeasure were verified by computer simulations.
